I would see people in every match using theirs but the game wouldn’t let me switch to my pistol despite it being there on my HUD next to my ammo, grenade, and equipment.

Awesome, thanks! I’ll keep this in mind for this weekends beta.
The handgun either has to have a damage increase and a lower amount of bullets, or the more amount of bullets. There’s no reason I can’t fight two people with the handgun without having to reload. Also add a slide function. The grenade damage spread is too much. The colors of the enemies have to be brighter or somehow more distinct, players are having s hard time seeing enemies. Also on the bigger maps why are we starting out with BRs rather than the ARs?
Hit Reg issues need to be addressed and controller aim seems very non-user friendly. The Commando is unfortunately nearly unusable, and I am super excited to use it more but I have to pass it up because it just doesn’t have the hit registration and aim working properly. When it does work correctly it’s a very fine weapon. Ghosts pushing flags is a no in my book. Also plz xp after matches, even if it is small. It just doesn’t feel like you are working toward anything if you are boxed out of challenges bc the flight sandbox doesn’t have the ability to complete them.

I would agree that the Assault rifle is strong and may need a slight damage nerf (not quite like the Halo 3 Assault Rifle), but I found it hard to hit long shots with it requiring a lot more input to keep on target than compared to the BR or Commando. All the guns are situational and if you don’t get all head shots with the Pistol, BR, or Commando you’re probably going to lose that medium to close range fight against the AR.
I think the whole “xp is earned via challenges and only challenges” needs to change. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea if they’re were a lot more challenges to complete but I literally finished all of mine within two hours of me starting to play. I feel like there is no further way for me to progress once all of my challenges are done and the sense of completing anything feels lacking. Xp should be earned and rewarded primarily by completing matches and doing well within those matches. Challenges are a good idea but just not by themselves.
If this is the wrong thread to post this in please let me know. I am new to posting feedback but have been playing Halo since I was 4 and I’m 22 now.
Halo is back; Absolutely love it! Will be a lot of fun Friday nights ahead. Just a couple things:
Absolutely love the audio of all of the guns. Seriously; well done! S7 has never felt more satisfying and the BR75 is an absolute dream. Only nitpick here is the warthog sounds a bit anemic. Could use a bit more “grunt” to the engine sound. Maybe the “spooling” up of a turbo to give the mean diesel sound, or more “raspy-ness” in the engine sound in general. Make it feel a tad more “Meaty” - As fun as it is right now, I’m not a fan of the superfast cooldown of the grapple hook. Hoping the cooldown can be increased an additional 1-2 seconds. Seeing a spartan be Spiderman all the way around the map is going to get old. I think it should be something that has 1 - 2 uses max, and could instead be used in “clutch” moments. - In-game medals are too small and come across as unimportant. A triple kill is a great achievement in a play session for someone like me. Increase size of in-game medals by at least 50-75% - Switching seats in the warthog is an absolute dream of a mechanic. thank you! cannot wait for BTB matches. - As ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL LOL as the Skewer is to vehicles, it is often anti-climactic when you shoot a spartan with it. Please give similar amounts of concussive force to a spartan shot by the Skewer as vehicles receive. - Give shock rifle the ability to detonate grenades that are in play by shooting near or close to them. This is a special buff that this gun would have and really set it apart. EXAMPLE: throw a plasma grenade very far, and allow a closely place shock rifle shot (within 1 - 1.5 meters) to set the grenade off. - **You should be able to load a shock grenade into the shock rifle and shoot it farther than you could throw it; kind of like a grenade rail gun.**I’ve played Halo since the beginning (OG Duke controller FTW). This is the most fun I’ve had in a Halo game since Halo 2: Anniversary. Thank you 343. The extra year of dev time clearly paid off!
Like many others, I think the balance of the AR/Sidekick need to be tweaked a tad. Both are pretty nice but just a little bit of pain remains with each. They’re almost there.

> Hi gurs, I feel like the 18m radar is too small - I feel like it should be 25m to allow for players to react to others flanking
Absolutely agree. THANK YOU! Please 343, this is a deal-breaker now, just as it was for H5.
Aiming feels off regardless of input device. The low aim assist and high bloom makes many weapons feel inconsistent and therefore bad.
Radar range of 18-20m is too small. 25m from prior Halo titles would be better.
There should be a way to limit the in-game chatter from AI (as other posters here have noted) - it gets annoying.
The Spartan chatter is extremely ineffective. In Halo 5, they’d call out the enemy weapons and enemy location. In Halo Infinite, there’ll be vague calls such as “enemy above/below us!” - yet when I look around, there’s no enemy above, below, or anywhere nearby. This is annoying.
Melee lunge is incredibly inconsistent.
Pulse rifle is rubbish. I don’t know if this relates to the difficulty aiming in point #1, but getting the bullets to track on the pulse rifle is near impossible.
I want to preface this by saying I’ve been looking forward to whatever this game would be for 3 years. On a positive note, the landscapes and maps are beautiful, and the guns feel very impactful and fun to use. I love being able to aim down sights with the auto rifle and pistol and stay aimed in, it feels excellent and natural. At least, the UNSC guns. I haven’t tried the others much.
Grenades are good, and feel natural to throw and use even on my first game.
But,
I think this feels like a massive step back. Character customization feels so same-y that everyone looks almost identical, even between male and female. (I know this may change down the line as more cosmetics are introduced with the main release.) The game feels like it’s pandering so hard to nostalgia that it’s not gaining anything new. What I loved about halo 5 was how it was fast paced and the thruster pack allowed you to have some maneuverability and skill, other than exactly how well you can aim your gun. In my last game on halo infinite, while chasing an opponent it felt like his sprint speed was only ever so slightly faster than my walking speed… what’s the point of having the sprint if it doesn’t get you places QUICKLY?
Average jogging speed of a human is 4-6 mph, and sprinting speed of athletes is often around 15. I’d think genetically augmented super soldiers, who also have strength enhancing suits, could manage to hurry a bit.
The game feels like a fossil with a beautiful coat of paint on it. People who loved Halo Combat Evolved with no doubt go crazy about it, but I have found it disappointing.
There must be a difference in Pistol accuracy between Controller and Mouse Keyboard. I don’t get how people are calling for a Pistol buff when I’m getting paired up against players that pistol across the map hitting every shot max speed. It doesn’t need a buff, it needs to be working the same across the board.
Just a few thoughts from my playtime, I know some of these things have already been discussed but this is just my list of things.
Aiming on controller definitely feels weird
not a big fan of the reticle bloom on any of the weapons
behemoth slayer can turn into an awful experience super fast if one team controls both snipers. Removing the snipers from the map might make it okay.
ghost pushing the flag should be removed
ar feels a little too overpowered at all ranges
there needs to be a way to mute individual players during game
would be nice to be able to rotate camera during death screen
player collision needs to be added back in with friendly fire as well
grenade and hammer physics need to be added
I find the amount of aim assist and bullet magnetism to be good, just bloom needs to be changed
would prefer the radar from the first flight that doesn’t show you when walking
active camp should remove you from radar when walking if the radar will stay like it is in the second flight
would like to be able to view players in your lobby sort of like how halo 3 did it
would like to see the amount of ar bullets needed to melee kill someone increased, I haven’t counted but it feels like only 3-4 ar shots are needed for a 1 hit melee
a little too many chimes and dings for flag grabs and stronghold captures
would prefer more of Jeff Steitzer’s announcing
between the ai, spartan chatter, game announcements and dings/chimes there just seems to be a lot of audio clutter
would like the hud to have grenades and ammo counter location customizable
would be nice to be able to see how many challenge swaps and xp boosters you currently have
I think it is going to be changed but the medals are very small
I think the ‘score feed’ just to the left of your reticle is unnecessary and visually unappealing. Only the regular killfeed in the bottom left is needed. In fact why do we have a score value at all? Very unnecessary.
due to the visual and audio clutter it can sometimes be hard to even know you are getting shot. Need to tone down everything and just keep it simple
-grav hammer feels weird to use, almost sluggish. Also no alternate melee is very odd as well
Overall I’ve had a fairly positive experience with the flight and mostly enjoy myself. These are just my opinions and some of them are bigger issues than others but just wanted to give my feedback on changes I would like to see.
Edit: I see that it has been confirmed no Jeff Steitzer in BTB and that is just such a disappointment. That’s really what everyone wants and no one really cares about the Spartan Argyna or whatever her name is.
I feel like in BTB the pelican drops should be increase how fast the pelican drops comes in with vehicles as It sucks to not get some games to not be able to use like the scorpion or wraith at all. I would more rather have the Traditional BTB style for vehicle spawning at base vs the pelican drops.
Anybody else run into squads in Social Arena today that absolutely decimated their team to the tune of 50-5? I had multiple encounters like this and the opposing team all ran around in tight bunches like I’ve seen the bots do in the previous flights, and every single shot they took was a dead on head shot. Practically insta-killed every single time I encountered them.
This happened 4 or 5 games during today’s session. For reference, I’m on Xbox

I swear those players are actually max-difficulty bots thrown into the mix, given their accuracy and the way they stick very close together.
I have more but the absolute deal-breaker for me is the radar. 18m is too short. It was in H5 too and it’s the only Halo I couldn’t stick with. Please put it back to 25m, 343. I know I’m not alone and this is immensely important to gameplay.
This game is an unmitigated disaster for many different reasons. I lost interest towards the end of last weekend. In my 2nd game today I lost a cross map encounter wielding the Commando vs AR. Hot trash. Shut it off.

Yeah I played one game like that, they ran in a pack on Live Fire. You can’t team up against them bc you spawn too far away from your teammates & by the time they spot their AR & Sidekicks’s destroy you.
