I played a whole bunch this past weekend. I recently bought a new PC and now have transitioned from Xbox. One thing I did noticed, was the aiming, I’ve seen a lot of people complain about this, but I thought this might have just been me going from Xbox to PC (I used a controller on PC).
Second problem I had was lag. I dont know if this was normal because it was a tech test. But a lot of times when climbing ledges I was lag back down or to a completely different part of the map. It could also be that I have a wireless set up to my router.
I thought overall the game was better than Halo 5.
As someone who is relatively new to social pvp for Halo, my thoughts on the flight are:
The voice acting and AI are neat but I feel almost overwhelmed by the amount of chatter from all sides.
The ability to filter AI quips so only the important callouts like abilities and power weapons spawning would be nice, fun turns repetitive if overused. Spartan chatter that aren’t calling out vehicles and power items should also be rarer; I can see an enemy’s shields are about to pop from the bubble effect, having them call out ‘did some damage’ feels unnecessary. Announcer is perfect as always.Outlines on spartans seems unnecessary, coating system feels vaguely greedy and half-baked.
As someone who never touched the RvB days of halo multiplayer (forge garbage doesn’t count), even I think that RvB for team based games could be reimplemented alongside the armor coating system. Having a warm palette version (red, orange, yellow) and cold palette version (blue, aqua, purple) that apply to your armor coating and camouflage in team based games makes it easier to distinguish who is on your team while retaining the uniqueness of the armor camo pattern applied. Think Rocket League. *(*I know this sounds pedantic and whiney but I cannot stress this enough: RvB might be archaic but with the armor coating/camo system it can be just as good for player expression without screwing with MTX systems.) - On that note, I’d like it if enemies simply lacked the outline and simply had their nametag floating above them.Random gripes
I feel like there’s input lag (?) aiming just feels mildly clunky as of right now, but that could just be me. Looking around with mouse just feels wonky. - Bring back hammer physics, player collision, and reduced friendly fire! - Heatwave is a cool weapon but unless you’re hitting all vertical shots on a spartan, it’s hardly consistent, even with the bounce in a crowded room. Perhaps a mild damage and bounce buff similar to the scattershot (?)Other than these gripes, I really, really think that this 343 made a good and neat introduction to halo multiplayer for someone who’s only played campaign before. I hope that the team irons out the kinks and brings back a strong middleground arena shooter.
The aim in infinite feels really bad, and i dont think that low AA is the only issue. The turn speeds and small movement corrections are very inconsistent despite setting, its almost as if the speed fluctuates. When trying to make small adjustments far away it moves in fast chunky segments, when trying to track a target with long sweeping movements, its too slow. Ive tried every combo of setting in the sensitivity, acceleration and dead zones and nothing felt right. Something is off with its core design and even with a AA bump i think would still feel janky. Maybe its a result of trying to design the aim around both controller and MnK at the same time making them both feel sub par rather than focusing on each individually to make each input method feel as good as possible.
MnK and controller are to vastly different to create a good balance and should stay in separate lobbies in all shooters. even the play style, map traversal and tactics of a game are all effected by the type of input and create different metas. MnK gives high levels off accuracy while maintaining high sensitivity, which is really strong in faster moving lower TTK shooters. While controller gives good fluid left stick movement which is good it higher TTK slower paced strafe battle gun fights. which also effects what players want in the core game design ( i.e. the sprint speeds and ttk high vs low debates). In any game where both are in the same lobby, One input method will always be better. Then u get the debates on AA cheating or MnK near perfect accuracy with insta180 no scope is unfair… ect ect.
343 should just keep them separate and then focus on balancing the aim to make it feel as smooth as possible for both MnK and Controller. That way halo feels great on both and no need for mnk vs controller debates
The flight in general is fun, but there still has to be more polishing and time put in.
Accuracy with shock rifle, skewer, and sniper feels a bit off. Make all three of those weapons more accurate and easy to use, or slow down the projectile speed.
Shields, the shields to me don’t look visible, it hard for me to determine if an enemy is one shot or not. the recharge could also use some work.
3.Radar, I was told that the radar was going to change to the Halo ce - Halo 4 style, but I don’t really see any change.
Sound, the unsc weapons feel to similar and generic, maybe mix these sounds with the more classic sounds.
Explosions, underwhelming, and the visuals look generic.
Spartan, Ai, and Sergant chatter, to much chatter.

> 1. Yeah I felt that the gameplay was a little choppy but I changed the settings from optimise to performance then everything was smooth
> 2. I agree on wanting to use different weapons like custom loadouts
> 3. I was having problems on finding matches as well but it was mostly because there’s scheduled times on when you’re able to play halo infinite’s technical preview
Halo has never truly been about custom loadouts, if thats really what you want then Move to COD but for the true Halo fans who have been playing the seiries all the way through it changes one of the biggest aspects that sets Halo apart from other FPS

>
> This is not a Beta but a technical preview. The general idea of the game is good but a lot of things need to be tweaked and fine-tuned. and the engine needs to be optimized. and the nedcode could be better. getting shot around walls doesn’t feel good. Thanks for your non-existent productive feedback.

> lol this game has a long way to go before can be anywhere near the same level as Halo 3. That’s just facts.

> The Halo 3 Beta from crackdown what lightyears ahead of halo infinite technical preview.
I wasn’t saying it wasn’t without its faults, I liked how it played and said it could be something great, calm down before hopping on someone, yes I get it has problems I was mainly talking about the things game developers wouldn’t want to fix things they have there to make the game the way it is not bugs or getting shot around corners

> Hi gurs, I feel like the 18m radar is too small - I feel like it should be 25m to allow for players to react to others flanking
That or they could move the center of the radar forward a bit so you can see more of what’s behind you.
Plasma pistol needs to emp vehicles plain and simple it has only two uses drop shields and stop vehicles! Gotta fix this been loving the game!
outline/glow only teammates. Enemies should not be outlined, I can’t tell you how many times I seen an enemy because of the outline. Might be good but no because they were sneaking around things, or in front of the trees but was trying to camouflage with the trees. Or trying to ambush me or a teammate. Let them sneak around or blend with the environment. Outline only for teammates!
Aim assist and bullet magnetism! I’ve made tons of forum post because this needs to happen especially when we are gonna have tons of new players! I want this game to revive halo as a whole! And not giving new players a bit of a helping hand is gonna drop the player base in a month or two. Aim assist almost doesn’t exist and bullet magnetism isn’t even in the game. Just a dash of a bump that’s it. And for power weapons like sniper just have very little bullet magnetism.
PLEASE 343i I want this halo to be a big success! This is gonna be a F2P game gotta help the new comers I get it the competitive scene is great and I’ll be the sweaty ones too but there needs to be a more social approach to give this game longevity. I have tons of friends giving this game a go and it’s there first halo, I’ve been playing halo since halo 2 and being a sweat till halo 3-halo 5. That’s it thank you for the flights been killing it at halo infinite and loving it just small adjustments
-will be posting this a lot to because it’s important lol-
thanks :3
Another thing I noticed was a lot of wtf moments of dying well after I turned a corner with zero line of sight. Like 2 or 3 steps after. I’ve read other people noticed it too.
Another issue. Colors are still a problem. If my teammate has red armor in a very quick situation I couldn’t distinguish then from the enemy. The outline system just isn’t good at close distance at all. Red versus blue is ideal. Make outlining an option for people who have issues with colors but make the default the old red versus blue system.
I enjoyed playing infinite even though i was facing challenges trying to get into social games but there was a couple things that stood out. Pros: the game is aesthetically pleasing(besides the weapons), has pretty cool game physics, good bullet detection, maps seemed balanced/good and kind of feels like a classic halo game. Cons: the movement especially when sliding felt rigid and stiff, the guns looked bad and reloads seemed a little too long, the spawns were horrific, the special weapons that drop on the map were very underwhelming especially the skewer(i might have been using it wrong idk but definitely did not enjoy using it lol) and the only weapons i found decent were the battle rifle, spnkr, and the gun that’s like the incineration cannon. I did enjoy playing the game, it feels so good to have a new halo releasing soon! I look forward to the release and seeing how well the game improved from here!
The grapple shot is fun but it’s needs a much longer cool down. This shouldn’t be Titanfall 3 or just cause 5. I’ve watched people stay in the air for as long as they want. That’s pure gimmick and not halo.
So I’m going to mention this again and again cause as an original player who got addicted for this sole reason, I still feel incredibly passionate about this
first off, most everyone’s feedback is pretty much exactly how I feel, a lot of the notes I’ve taken have already been mentioned so I agree with almost everyone else on some of the more tech/gameplay things we’ve all experienced.
when you click “rank help” it shows how the skill ranking is going back to reach/H5 placement ranks but I heavily disagree and feel ranking in general needs to go back to a skill based ranking system similar to halo 3s… meaning max base rank can NOT be obtainable unless you max out your skill rank as well! It doesn’t have to be 1-50, although me and thousands of OG players absolutely wish for that, it needs to be something similar for that addictive quality we miss dearly since halo 3. Arena placement ranks are easily manipulatable and once you figure it out, reaching champion is not too much of a feat (for a skilled player), 1-15 champ is different but that gets affected with play time as well, but I’ve proved that to myself and others with the champs I’ve hit. It’s no where near satisfying as something like maxing out a base rank like in halo 3. I wish for 1-50 ranks (which I’m baffled hasn’t been worked on and perfected yet considering it’s 17 years old) and maybe there could even be something better? Griefing and boosting will ALWAYS happen as we still have people doing that today In not just ranked, but SOCIAL!?? yes social in both MCC And H5 and I think the only way to prevent that is with a harsh ban system like in gears but who knows…
anyways I just want and been wanting for years that addictive trait that got me extremely hooked to halo for life and for me, it was the skill based ranking system in halo 3.
1: rocket animation lagging action. The game seemed to acknowledge the input as when the animation caught up it was on target. Happened multiple time across multiple games.
2: bulldog animation lag. Same as above. Visuals lagged but input recognized and shots hit mark.
3: queuing into follow up match was fairly variable. Most times my match making would hang up at searching and I would need to quit the client and reopen to get it to function again.
4: noticed a fair amount of pop in at mid to long range when turning quickly and ADS.
5:match making in my session seemed spot on after a couple “seeding” rounds. My last 4 games were neck and neck. It’s that feeling that even though we lost it was close and both teams played to their highest. Each game felt the new team mate lull at the start and you could see people gel as the match went on. When teams stuck together from match to match it seemed to recognize that as well and the next game wasn’t hurt for it.
Overall a great improvement to pop in and frame rate/pacing over earlier build! Much more enjoyable to play. Really like what the team has been able to achieve:metal:

i would be okay with a range buff, and a damage buff if they included a reload time nerf.

YES! i am glad someone noticed it too, i found so many times i was running away and died well after i turned a corner. It was super frustration especially when i was on a killstreak.
