This is something that has always bothered me in all halo games and I hope you will change this. Melee range when you are walking forward is much farther then if you are not walking forward. There are countless times when I am strafe shooting someone in front of me who is doing the same and they get close to me to melee. I hit punch but hit nothing and go nowhere while he lunges at me from so far away. All because I was strafing when I hit melee. Or I’ll be backing up to stay away from a guy and he will fly at me from a mile away and anytime I try to melee, I go nowhere. Just make melee lunges consistent based on distance to a target not the state you are walking.
Also I’ve always hated getting descoped when you get shot. I know that how halo does it but it just never feels good to fight like that. All it does is makes fights take longer because when you get descoped, most times you will return to cover. Then you are left waiting for that person to come back out or for yourself to come back out in hopes you descope him first. I just prefer to have the fight as is, without something like that interrupting the flow. I doubt this will change but I really wish it would. I’ve always hated it.
I don’t know if this is a bug or not but when auto clamber is turned off there is no way to clamber. Auto clamber has gotten me killed. I’ve been strafe shooting on top of something and walk off the side but auto clamber will pull me back up and I’ll get killed by the enemy because I’m able to be shot while in the animation. I turned it off and now I can’t clamber at all. Please make it like halo 5 where you hold jump to clamber manually
Random, separate out the ai shape from their voice and also in game they should be referred to by name not shape in subtitles. I use lumu not teardrop and I would like if when she talks to me in game it says lumu is talking to me, not teardrop. And of course people would want to chose a shape they like separate from the ai itself. Also add more colors for them. There’s not a very good red for them. Promethean color is still very orange.
That’s all I can think of now I think. Overall the game feels very good at its core and I like a lot of the design decisions you guys made. But I do think there is work to be done for balancing in general and then balancing for cross play. Also I don’t know if pc-console cross play is mandatory but it should not be. They should be separate by default unless we allow it. And if it does end up mandatory then controller aim assists and bullet magnetism need to be heavily adjusted to feel equal to kb/m. If every match feels bad because I’m losing to people doing split second 180s and having perfect accuracy at long ranges then it’s gonna make playing console halo not fun, not fair and ultimately not worth it. I don’t want that happening. I love halo and I love what this game is, so please make sure they feel even
Encountered a bug today where I entered mid match and the audio would echo and I would hear fights I was not participating in.
Aiming on XSX felt better today.
Battlepass/Challenge system is still complete trash and will continue to be until medal xp, after match exp. etc is added and we take a BIG step back from this challenge only garbage. Additionally we need a spartan rank thats account wide or something.
I’m a big an of the fast strafe acceleration. It makes aiming difficult which will increase the skill gap in the game. Watching pros that will be known for their aim in Infinite will be exciting.
In general, this game is going to be great as an e-sport. Hopefully you don’t undo the great work you did because of some feedback from people who want to feel good all the time.
The vehicles feel amazing especially grappling to get in them/hijack. The repulser also works as expected on vehicles. I’m also surprised the grav hammer launches them a little. But honestly the grav hammer needs to launch vehicles AND players Halo 3 style, it is called the “gravity” hammer for a reason. Also the hammer’s damage area is too big imo!
The warthog turret and ghost reticle is WAY too small, a turret shouldn’t have the reticle of a DMR, it makes it way too accurate! Same with the ghost, it needs to be increased slightly, the trade off for these vehicles w/ weapons should always be that they’re a little bit harder to aim, not pinpoint accurate.
Also the ghost goes way too fast when you move sideways, it’s faster than moving forward normally. I found myself zipping across the map just constantly moving it sideways to the left or right. In all the other games it’s always been slower than moving straight, which makes more sense imo.
On PC (Idk about Xbox) I can’t seem to mute people individually in game, maybe I’m just dumb and can’t figure it out. But if it’s not there then that should definitely be a feature so I can mute annoying people and hear the ones that are actually talking/giving callouts.
Thanks for taking the time to read these! (if you do)
Please remove the invisible walls in maps. Stick to kill-zones where you die after a countdown. There are lots of great places we could make use of the grapple with that are inaccessible due to invisible barriers. Bumping into them takes away the immersion. - The sounds of some weapons still don’t feel quite right (Gravity Hammer, Needler, Plasma Pistol) - The design of the plasma pistol doesn’t feel right to me. It might be the nostalgia talking, but it just looks and feels wrong. - An audio slider to control the volume of the custom AI would be nice. The spartan voices, the announcer and the AI can be overwhelming and I feel like it would be nice for some to be able to disable some or at least lower the volume.Absolutely loving infinite so far. Can’t wait for the launch
The games all end too soon.
Are too fast and furious.
I’m not the best of the best at Halo, but i can hold my own (a 40/50 in old halo rankings), YET… this is making me feel like the worst player of all time.
Cannot seem to find a strategy that works in PvP on 4v4. (maybe that’s just me struggling to get positive kill counts or low ones, for no “apparent reason”)
The maps are tiny and the games are over too quickly, if you are behind you are instantly overrun and outnumbered since your team doesn’t start at the same time.
Plus they then have all the power weapons… >.> just peak and you’re dead.
I’m a BTB player at heart and its making me feel a little disconnected and i hate that, id rather play against the bots… which are way too weak atm and have all the same issues as above for probably the same reasons as above! All games are walkovers.
Pulse Carbine is too powerful, its a two shot from nearly anywhere
Plasma pistol is too weak and never connects to anyone unless you have them completely dead on.
Pistol is too weak
What the hell happened to all the precision weapons and counter weapons.
I used to use all the weapons in the bag with previous Halos, but i am feeling literally non of these weapons. AND I DONT KNOW WHY.
Plus I’m probably going to turn the music and the AI off so i can actually hear the battles and players coming at me…
Hoping that BTB pulls me back into it, because I’m disillusioned and worried right now for it.
Long time Halo veteran here. Love what I’m playing and seeing so far. I have a few things I’d like to mention:
physics: I would really prefer having the collision with team mates and enemies. To me, this is essential for Halo. Grenades and gravity hammer need knock back. - friendly fire: I think friendly fire should be turned on, it makes it feel much more intense and interesting, more grounded and even fun. - camera: being able to turn the camera after you’ve been killed and/or have switched to a team mates’ view. Bring it back, please! - bullet magnetism and auto aim: the BR feels just right, love it. Many other weapons, especially precision weaponry need a slight adjustment in terms of more magnetism and auto aim, in my opinion. - service record: the game would benefit greatly from a “per game XP model” and a detailed rank/service record. - HUD: the HUD is cluttered and isn’t as intuitive as the HUD from previous Halo games, changing grenades is especially cumbersome on controller. - medals: the medals are being revamped, I appreciate that. I do think that the Halo 3 medals were a design pinnacle and I would absolutely adore the option for medal skins from a battle pass, or some kind of option like that. - outline system: it’s already a big improvement from the previous flight, but still needs some work, I would argue. The previous titles made it much clearer what state of damage had been applied to an enemy spartan. Maybe add the option to disable it completely? - post game report: right now you can’t see how everyone did at a glance, I’d love a more comparative view.
There’s other issues/bugs that have been documented well, these are my personal points. Thank you for reading my post and lots of love and a big thank you to everyone who worked on this game during these trying times. Halo is very important and you’re doing a fantastic job! Greetings
I can’t tell whether or not a fully charged Plasma Pistol shot still disables vehicles. I’ve shot a fully charged blast into both a Warthog and a Ghost, but it doesn’t seem to stop the vehicles in their tracks. This might be intended behavior, but I’ve heard from others that they were able to disable vehicle this way. Maybe there could be a weapon drill explaining how to counter vehicles?

> 4. OPTION TO TURN OFF INTRO CAMERA PAN. Watching the cringe animations at the beginning of each match and poses at the end immediately strips these “Spartans” of all credibility that they are professional supersoldiers. Punching the air before a gunfight? The I’m too cool to take this seriously guy?
I think MP matches have lore that they’re all simulations and the spartans are battling each other to hone their skills. Remember halo 5’s stadium type matches and maps? It’s like that, hence why spartans are cocky and having fun before the match starts, they’re humans about to have a super futuristic paintball game and are amped up. Just look at the comradery of the marines in Aliens 2 when they’re introduced for example.
Forgot to mention vehicles
I love how vehicles seems powerful against non-vehicle players. I do think the stun shouldn’t last as long as it does tho. Maybe shorten the stun time by a tiny bit.
Ghost feels so floaty, Halo 5 ghost was probably the best, that’s also coming from my buddy whose a Ghost king since Halo 1.
Vehicle on Vehicle combat seems off. I was unloading on a warthog. They even flipped & got stuck on a rock & I still wasn’t able to kill them. Same was vice-versa with the Warthog gunner, unloading on a Ghost & couldn’t take it down. Wanted to note that both those times I was not being fired at by the other vehicles.
Can’t wait to see how the other vehicles perform, especially the Scorpion tank.
AR is underpowered idk what these guys talking about, u have to connect with the entire clip to get a kill.
then weapon switching is too slow when u empty the clip on someone and they dont die.
the AR has too much range
The radar is pretty much useless at this range im constantly getting killed from flanks and behind not showing up until im pretty much dead.
the BR is UNDERPOWERED, which i believe is what many of us is leading us to think that the ar is op. Its not, by no means. If anything id like Halo 3’s ar strength back.
XP for medals and gameplay please. Challenges are good but whats the point of me even getting killing sprees and triple kills if it doesn’t earn me anything.
IN Conclusion,
The FEELING of Halo is right, FINALLY, but the mechanics are just slightly off. Its looking good. Being an OG Halo fan the button setup and zoom/sprinting etc took a few games to get used to, cuz idk about everyone else but im used to halo 3, 2, and reach. I tried the recon config in the settings but its even more confusing than jus using default. Now, getting the hang of it its not so bad. But, I must say I have friends that refuse to play halo bc they have lost touch of what made halo great. All these abilities and zoom features just drives away long time fans. Its not Call of Halo its Halo, and im glad to see these roots of what made halo sandbox so good in the first place come back. Im so glad to see the game only needs minor tweaks to be a REAL Halo game again. Good Job 343, you guys finally got it right! Ive been here since 08 and even bf. Halo fn for life. Good work on this one! Mad props!
EDIT: Vehicles need more Torque and in game presence. They have no impact, drive too lightly. The warthog feels like im driving a prius.

> no longer good whatsoever

100% agree! I haven’t got anything good to say about the pistol, when shooting long range doesn’t seem to do anything to other players and the clips don’t seem enough. Maybe up the damage rate or clip limit?
Having A.I scan takes away from the need to acquire map knowledge. Instead of nullifying the need for map knowledge by compensating with technology, A.I scan should be taken away so people actually pay attention to where everything can be picked up. Additionally, I memorized most of the pick-up locations by the 4th or 5th time playing a map so I don’t even use the A.I scan and it is basically not serving any function at all. If the scan picked up players and what weapons they were using…now that would be some incentive for people to actually use A.I scan, but as it is now, it’s a bit irrelevant.
Melee. The damage is great, but the range needs a buff. There have been multiple times where I have been fighting someone and they are right in front of my character, but just a few inches away. When I press Melee, instead of lunging forward or reaching forward just a little bit to connect the melee and get the kill, my spartan just punches air and my adversary avoids my melee by being a few centimeters away from me. This doesn’t make any sense because if two Spartans were fighting for whatever reason, I guarantee you that they would both be leaning into their melee attacks and compensating for distance rather than just punching air and missing. So if I am face to face with someone and I melee, I expect my character/player-model to surge forward just a bit or reach or do something to cover that centimeter of space and get that kill because just punching air and dying over something like this will for sure damage the experience at launch.
Maps are extremely barren. 343, although the combat flow is nice, if you have maps like Bastion, you should be able to fit 14 weapons onto the map along with all equipment and grenades. There’s no reason for all your maps to not have all 14 weapons available. This is taking away from the experience because (with no map vote system) players have to wait until a map with the right weapons comes up before successfully completing some of the weapon-specific challenges. Again, 14 weapons should be easily fitted onto maps of this scale. I’ve identified multiple spots that are just blank and could easily be turned into a spawn location for weapons not previously placed onto the map.
Hologram and Evade need to come back as equipment. Hologram should have player outline and gamertag and should attack/defend/move like an easy-difficulty bot so that it is believable and there is incentive to use it and on I think the max capacity for this equipment should be two total uses per equipment. Evade should have 3 charges per equipment and should allow the player to dive-roll to forward, left, right, or backward and should be fast enough for players to easily avoid grenades, vehicles, or other projectiles.
Jetpack needs to come back as an equipment. It should have two full charges and each charge should allow the player to ascend, descend, and remain at a certain altitude for a short time while still being able to throw grenades or fire a weapon.

Would like to echo everything in this. AR is most definitely far too much of a match for the BR or Commando at range and that is not okay. And I too have been attacked from behind or shot above behind all-flight without any useful warnings on my radar. When people are doing anything except crouching/moving-while-crouched (or they have active camo), they should appear and be tracked on my radar. WE NEED ELEVATION INDICATORS. I’m tired of looking at my radar and all the dots seem like they are on the same level of the map as me, so I constantly have to cross-reference the radar with my field of vision and it takes up precious time I could use for fighting if we had up/down arrows attached to the red dots or shallow/moderate/dense red dots to help us identify who is above, below, and on the same level as us. We need the BR to pack a bit more punch if it’s going to spawn as a map weapon. 4 bursts on the head should be a kill if you go up against a fully shielded adversary with normal shields.
Encountered several instances where the lack of collision allowed an enemy player to phase through other players to avoid me damaging them. In one instance, a enemy player ran through me to quickly turn around and get a backsmack before I realized what had happened. While I initially didn’t mind the lack of collision, it has now led to several moments of confusion and frustration while playing, and a few deaths that felt unfair.

yea i forgot to mention that! I agree! I think the range of the AR makes it too much over the BR. I remember in Halo 3 the BR and the AR were evenly match but for different positions. Close range u used AR for long range you used BR. I completely agree. IM shooting across the map and connecting with my AR but the shotgun cant connect at point blank range lol.

Disagree. The pistol is not a ranged weapon. It’s damage, recoil, and range are all suited for mid to close range encounters. True, in previous Halo’s you could get shots off at range with the pistol, but the BR and DMR have always reigned supreme over the pistol at range. They are rifles…against a pistol. They are supposed to perform better at range. If you don’t like that, you should fight opponents at range using a weapon better suited to the distance. I don’t think the pistol needs changes of any sort. I’ve been getting double and triple kills with it in Social Arena all afternoon.
warthog and mongoose are extremely bouncy and go out of control way to easy. Hit a slight bump and your warthog goes flying and flips over. The fish tail hitting the ebrake is too much also, it practically does a 360.
