Infinite Tech Preview – Social Arena

why my xsx will be crash when i quit form the training mode or the mutigame,it even appear the pink snow on my sereen. it happens almost every time, so I want to know if this problem is my special case or a common phenomenon,At the same time, I also want to determine if there is a problem with my hardware.

1.it doesn’t feel smooth on xbox it feels a bit clunky

2.there are many times when you can’t even play social in a social lobby

3.At times a lag spike will ruin the game

Just hoping some the stuttering and fps issues on PC get worked out by launch. I’m not a dev, but visually I don’t see why this game shouldn’t be able to run consistently at a high frame rate. I get drops from 160 fps all the way down to 90 frequently.

Need to be a BR start game type

Thoughts so far with the Flight Test, Good job 343! Gun play feels good , took me a while to get my controller settings dialed in but after the first night of playing the second day went way smoother . Once I was familiarized with the weapon spawns and getting my bearings on the map I was able to focus and start to digest the game play.
The BR75: Close range its tough to beat but once you get to the mid range its starts to fall off as it should but the DPS feels off to ME.
SideKick: Rate of fire is something to get use to but I rather enjoy it for us guys with trigger discipline it can be your best friend up close as it should be, It feels balanced to me as I stated once you get used to it so no complaints from me.
MA40AR: Sheeesh this thing is aggressive but as a standard loadout it needs to be your not always gonna be able to grab a power weapon or any weapon for that fact so for me I dig it.
VK78C: Love Hate relationship lacks DPS! Mid range seems to me is were it shines due to the rate of fire you can really put some rounds on the recoil isn’t to bad so if you can work your trigger speed it seems to do the job but once you try to push the long range shots it lacks to much in my opinion.
Wont be diving into hit boxes or anything like that just because Im still bias to most of that due to such a short period of time playing this is my first Flight so after next weekend ill get a bit more in depth & with the power weapons.

Game Play: No issues as far as latency etc,Im running a Xbox One S well maintained so for me the Flight ran smooth with no issues. Flight seemed good no lags or weird walls the clamber seemed on point along with general movement. Glad the spartan charge is gone personally I never used it so good job there, Thrusters I can live with out because I feel a old school/new school approach to this witch is refreshing wont get to detailed cause as stated my first Flight after next weekend should have a better feel for the gameplay.
Game Modes: Cant speak to much on it just because I only got to play strongholds twice so…
Maps: Cant really speak on them me personally need more time.
Overall Thought Im truly impressed with it so far and feel that 343 has taken the right approach. Thank you 343 for allowing me to be apart the Flight its truly a honor to be able to share any opinion about the development of the game.

don’t know if this is the right group…but i really want/need the ability mute team chatter during the match. TitanFall did this right. Press the menu and you see everyone in the game and who’s got a mic, and who’s speaking, and you can go right to the person and Mute them. In game.
it seems that you can only toggle chat options out of the game, and this isn’t good enough.
I turned off all the chat options because i was streaming, and ppl in the game could hear me talking to my stream…but i couldn’t quickly turn off my chat to the game, during the match.
please add in game chat options to turn off chat and mute others…

Overall, the game is so much fun. I truly missed Halo. I look forward to SWAT. That’s the only game mode I really play steadily. Here are my thoughts so far:

  • MELEE: The melee feels clunky to me. Maybe I’m alone in this but there seems to be no forward thrust when you try to melee. I’d like to see the range for this increased slightly. Tired of getting gut punched because I melee’d .01 seconds too early.

  • EQUIPMENT: Someone mentioned this in another comment, but I’d like to second the idea of being able to choose an equipment to start the game with. This might help close the gap in socials between skill players with weapons and skill players with movement.

  • SLIDING: Again, mentioned earlier, but as it is right now the slide mechanic seems pretty useless to me. I’d like to see the range extended slightly on this as well, with the ability to back out at any time. (Plant your feet in the dirt and stand up by pressing back on the joystick).

  • CUSTOMIZATION: I love the prefilled color combinations, but I’d also like to see the ability to choose custom primary and secondary colors included. It would be really hard for you to include all the different color combinations and I think this would allow players the opportunity to make their Spartan even more their own.

AFTER ACTION REPORT: I second the idea to include a “nemesis” and favorite weapon in the after action report to really bring a rivalry to life. it would be a nice addition to the information you’ve already included.

These are my suggested changes.

Hopefully next flight the servers on both waypoint and the game will be a little more consistent.

For praise, I absolutely love that you can feel the weight of the gravity hammer when you swing it now.
The weapons seem to have a good variety with pros and cons on each to truly make players consider them all. The physics on grenades seemed great. I love the grappleshot. I love the customization options. You’ve all done a great job on the game and I think with a few minor tweaks this could really be one of the best. I look forward to more flight tests. Thanks for the opportunity to play and I look forward to the next go round!

Aim Assist for controller’s too low/ or add Input based matchmaking

To either improve upon the assist, or implement the other because as of right now this game is unplayable. I thought I would see more outcry from my fellow controller players, but to my surprise not nearly as many are up in arms. In fact I think I see more people saying this is true balance. Which I am finding hard to believe.

I’ve been playing halo for over 12 years and of course I have always used a controller. I won’t sit here and brag about being some god tier player, and while I’m sure there’s plenty of people who will argue that aim assist has carried me to where I am. I find it hard to believe I can average a 60%+ accuracy through any of the halo’s, just to have to break my wrist to even achieve 40% in Infinite.

I do not and will not break out a 2,000 page essay on aim assist but please tell me this isn’t the final state of what it has to offer. I understand the argument’s in that it offers a higher skill ceiling as it stands now. I get that you can now be rewarded for your superior aim online as it should be, but in the sake of balance between controller and m&kb you have rendered controller boarder line obsolete for most of us, even if most of us don’t realize it. I get it, I’ve seen the gameplay of some of the best halo players still making it look easy. But they are a small fraction of the controller based populace and for the rest of us this is unplayable. This alone is a major turn off for playing Halo Infinite for me. I simply cannot play as well as I deserve to. (And my stats from the years can justify my opinion)

Touching back on the balance for m&kb vs. controller, as it stands in flight 2 I feel forced to played on m&kb. I would hope that in the final build of the game at the very least an input matchmaking setting will be present and that it was merely not needed to be present for a flight. But I have never considered turning it on even when MCC came to pc I left it be and played along PC players without a problem (Even though they were gods at sniping) It didn’t matter, they had their advantages and I had mine and I thought that was balance.

As for everything else in the flight

343 I think you did a phenomenal job with this halo. As someone who ABSOLUTLEY HATED HALO 4 AND 5. This was a huge breath of fresh air, aside from the bugs/ the delays and everything else. I think Halo Infinite looks and plays amazing aside from my above gripe. And while that one gripe will make or break if I play this game or not, good job on everything else. Unlike your more recent baby Halo 5, THIS halo actually plays and feels like a halo and I’m excited to see the final product come December 8th.

To anyone that may have read my rant thank you, I care so much about this game I could not go without putting my feedback out there even though I feel as if it comes off more as a rant than constructive. But thank you for you’re time and I’ll see you all on release

The game runs really smooth in the RTX 3060. But it takes a huge load on the GPU almost at 95% Which then slows down the rest of my open apps. I can’t really stream it properly because it gives frame drops, not in game but inside the stream.

>
> In its current state it’s too easy to pull off, it makes cqc boring and flat. if it was reworked to be a frame perfect execution thing then yeah I think it would fit fine. BxB Doesn’t require much skill to pull off, unlike in halo 2 where it was a matter of how precise you were with the timing. If it does stay like this then front facing melee should just become a 1 hit kill. I see where you coming from but it’s a bit overpowered at the moment, I had a friend who’d only played halo a few times in his life hop in to the beta, he had learnt how to do it within minutes.

> I do like that your team can’t kill you cuz every time I play Halo 5 online there is a team member trying to kill me this isn’t funny people but I do think that this should be a option in training mode

Totally fair and I’m feel the same way as you :c, but the friendly fire and collision make matches more strategic. A lot of the tech matches (in my case) just become throwing grenades and nuking my team mates and same goes for the enemy team in some cases. We have the kick system for the betrayal stuff, I mean, isn’t perfect, but I think we lose more as a player’s without this two features.

The reticule on the pistol needs some work. The outer ring is very big and makes it seem like shots should be hitting when they aren’t.

Go back to Flight 1 radar. That’s the only criticism I have, as it has severely affected the way people play.

Couple of comments on the game. Overall it’s very fun to play, just a few tweaks below that would make the game more enjoyable/authentic.

  • The pistol is horrible. Fire rate is too fast and it’s not powerful enough. This pathetic pistol is a far cry from the Halo pistols of old, which were one of the most iconic weapons of the game. - Ability to turn off the in-game dialogue or at least scale it back. Way too much and the voice is annoying. If you want to keep so much dialogue use the original Halo voice who says things like Slayer etc. That guy’s voice is iconic. - Either speed up or turn off the before game camera span/animation of each player on the team. It’s cringy and waste of time. If anything just do a quick camera span of the full team standing there so you can see everyone’s custom armor for a split second and then start the game.
  1. Grenades are able to be thrown way too far

  2. The B X B pummel cancel need to be fixed

3.AR is the most powerful gun other than power weapons and makes the BR pretty much useless to grab

4.shock grenades should not follow and if they continue to do so shouldn’t be as good.

This is now my 2nd weekend playing halo infinite. I love the game and how actively the team is working on it. A lot of great improvements from the last flight. Everything runs smooth gameplay wise. I’ve still been getting some glitches here and there.
When grappling I’ll make it up to a platform but when the animation is over I’ll either be on the platform where I want to be or be on the floor right under. This happens about 3/10 times. Moving on to the main glitch/bug. The reload cancel Melee. Essentially you shoot one round of a weapon, find your victim and slam the reload and melee buttons as fast as possible. Killing them in a ridiculously short amount of time. This needs to be fixed ASAP.
Last time halo infinite flight was live. I had spoke about the grav hammer and how the melee is very awkward. If possible I wish there was a different animation for it and it worked a little better.
Love the shock rifle Concept but I feel like it needs a bit of work. a head shot should kill and 2 shots to the body should also kill but trying it out on bots that’s not the case most of the time.
One of the main bugs that’s somewhat irritating is the battle pass. I love the new progression system. But some of the stuff I unlocked in the first flight is locked for me even though I’m a level 25 in the season pass currently. Some of the armor pieces are locked and even the paint I was using from the last flight is locked so when I changed paints I couldn’t go back to it. Y’all have a bit to work on the game until it comes out so I’m sure everything will be great at launch.

The game overall feels good, nice and nostalgic a bit more like reach or halo 3 and further from the likes of halo five which I like. My only negative would be skilled unlocks like unlocking customisation via leveling up and gaining exp rather than only from a battle pass paid for or otherwise.

  1. Please give us the option to turn off the A.I., or at least reduce how often they quip during a fight. It is subjective whether they are funny or not I suppose but to me the available ones are really jarring and out of place. I’d really prefer to just hear the announcer instead of ‘SLAY THEM HARDER’. Or even better, maybe a few A.I. options that aren’t programmed by Marvel writers. Cortana was always quippy, but she had her moments of complete seriousness, and thats what I’d want out of an A.I. in Infinite. Instead of ‘Time to slaaaaaaaaaaay’, maybe they could say ‘You’ve been training for this, Spartan. Good luck.’

  2. Equipment needs to be rebalanced. The drop shield in particular is worthless. I think the individual panels need to be tougher, and in exchange take longer to repair/recharge/whatever. I feel like I’m wasting time using it when I could be firing, the enemy just breaks it immediately and shoots me through the hole. The active camo seems to last a bit long, and the overshield is crazy strong. Maybe change it so that it pops instantly on pickup, lasts a little less/isn’t as strong, and if you die immediately after picking it up, someone else can grab it off your body.

  3. The most important by far: the motion sensor needs to be buffed. It is really really short, to the point where people obviously have stopped using it because it doesn’t show enemies unless you are right on top of them. You can sprint right up behind people and melee them to death while they shoot at someone else because their motion sensors don’t work. Please, please buff the range a bit. Doesn’t have to be crazy, just a bit more.

  4. I really enjoy the weapon balance. The tight map design feels great for 4v4.

  5. I really think the sliding animations need to be worked on. Less lag at the beginning, less at the end, and less speed reduction. At the moment it is merely a gimmick, but if buffed properly could be a decent niche mechanic. Sidestepping the argument about whether it should be in the game at all, if it IS going to be in the game, please make it useful.

· The Assault Rifle it’s way too strong, beeing a weapon that can kill players almost as good as a BR in medium to close range, witch is something that doens’t happens normally in Halo + I think the game it’s more fun with an automatic weapon beeing not that OP. I think it should have it’s range efficiency decrease and maybe nerf the damage just a little bit.

· The game should have player collision physics! It’s a mechanic that have been in Halo since forever and it’s AWESOME, to make jumps, and just to don’t make the game awkward with players inside each other, that can be unfair depending on the situation.

· The game should have more physics in general, like when you kill a spartan with a rocket launcher or gravity hammer, he will fly a little bit with the impact, the same to the objects near it! Becauae it juat fells strange and not cool how the environment and spartans works with stuff like ecplosives and the hammer!
The player that uses the hammer, especially if he is in the air, should fly backwards a little bit with the punch of the weapon, this would be such an AWESOME detail that would make so many cool and fun plays possible!

· Aim assist on the game still feels not good enough, i think it should be a little stronger, at least for controller! Aiming right now is way harder compared to other Halos, and i think the main reason for that is aim assist.

I also think you guys should add the Spring Jump mechanic to the game! Will make the movimentation of the game way more fun and more competitive just by adding it!

> Halo 5 is my favorite video game of all time. I am very disappointed so far in Halo Infinite. The AR is way too powerful. The pistol sucks and has no range. Removing thrusters is helping to enable grenade spam. Players should not regen health while sprinting. Overall this game feels like it was watered down to please casuals who refuse to move on from Halo 3.

it’s a shame you never played Halo 3. You have no idea what you are talking about. The fact you can put Halo 3 and the word causal in the same sentence is mind-blowing.
