Infinite Tech Preview – Social Arena

Halo 5 is my favorite video game of all time. I am very disappointed so far in Halo Infinite. The AR is way too powerful. The pistol sucks and has no range. Removing thrusters is helping to enable grenade spam. Players should not regen health while sprinting. Overall this game feels like it was watered down to please casuals who refuse to move on from Halo 3.

Just some general things:

  • Player collision needs to come back. I’ve been running through people when trying to melee them expecting to bump into them. Teammates can walk through you and mess up shots. I think this is a pretty big issue - Also, where’d my legs go! Should be something when I look down. - I like friendly fire; feels part of Halo. Makes grenades more strategic (don’t blow up your friends). - I can’t mute people!! Some people really need better mics. Need the ability to mute from the scoreboard (or just turn off all team chat?) - Need something signifying who’s talking. Lots of people saying “power weapon on my corpse” and I have no idea who’s talking - Would be nice to have a toggle setting for the scoreboard. I’m used to holding select to show it, not pressing to toggle it. - The AR needs tuning. It’s way too general and OP. The commando feels pointless with the AR there. Like, other non-power weapons have their specific use case but the AR is just really good at everything. Can kill from across the map, annihilates in close-quarters, really good mid-range. I mean, I get that it was always the joke weapon and you guys wanted to make it better, but it’s too good. Makes the other weapons not as noteworthy. I find whenever I go for the BR I just get killed by the AR anyways. - Aim assist (and just aiming in general) feels a bit off. I might be wrong in this, and maybe it’s just because the AR is so good long range, but things like the BR don’t feel as good as they used to. I need to play some SWAT to get a better idea, but I think there’s some tuning to be done here. Just make things like Reach and I’ll be happy :stuck_out_tongue:I’m sure there’s more, but that’s all I can think of for now. I said this in another post but I am enjoying the game and it does feel like Halo, so good job!

So far the game feels pretty solid and way better than the last 2 halos but there is still a few tweaks that I feel would improve the overall experience.

  1. The aiming just feels a bit sluggish and like it only operates in absolutes, like the middle ground between looking straight ahead and turning to the side is a little muddy. It seems to either not turn at all then suddenly I’m facing completely to my side.
  2. I feel as though the AR is a little strong in most cases, I enjoyed back in like halo 3 where it was a plait of a pea shooter that challenged you to get better with precision weapons.
  3. The melee has a very strong thrust that I just feel like takes any skill out of the melee it’s just a super easy cop out for when you aren’t finding success with your gun skill.
  4. The time to kill is a bit fast for a halo title, shields don’t feel like shields maybe if you Increased shield strength just a tad to slow down the ttk it would make it way more reminiscent of the other titles in the series.
  5. All of the unnecessary ai call outs are distracting and interfere with communication they also point out all power weapon spawns which takes a bit of the skill away, I’m ok with something like this in social matchmaking but if there are ranked modes I think they need to be tuned a bit for those experiences.

All in all it’s a solid game but I feel like with these tweaks it could be a great game. But overal I think 343 did a decent job blening the two eras of halo into a single unified experience.

hello, good for this 2nd test evening I had a little more fun than Friday. but there are still things that bothers me. firstly the fact that we know when the weapons appear on the map or that we see them, I prefer when we do not know anything which forces players to check and therefore favors movement. bug level I noticed that when we press pose in training to adjust the game parameters, we end up having the character who can only move the head, feet, jump etc are blocked, I noticed some bugs teleportation yesterday but only on one game. I have bugs to pick up the grenades. otherwise on the whole I’m fine … I can’t wait to test the big team battel.

WEAPONS:

  • MK50 SIDEKICK: I am very happy with the nerf of the magnum. I hated Halo 5 and was hoping they would return to using rifles as a primary weapon.

  • MA40 ASSAULT RIFLE: don’t listen to anyone who says it’s OP. it is balanced against other automatic weapons. If you nerf AR then you have to nerf also needler, commando, and go back to the Halo 2/3 sandbox.

  • BR75 BATTLE RIFLE: It Is perfect. It must be the primary weapon in competitive games.

  • VK78 COMMANDO, I like it very much, but imho it need more AIM assist and time to kill higher than BR.

  • PULSE CARABINE, i don’t like it. I wish it was like the covenant carbine, only with Promethean bullets.

PHYSIC
Basic speed, sprint and gravity are perfect. The speed of throwing grenades and reload weapons is aligned with the flow of the game. Now It is frantic, more than H5 and, thanks to the removal of thrusters and spartan charge, it’s also less crazy and more reasoned.

EQUIPMENTS & GAME MODES
I don’t know if the social arena mode has been called that because there will also be another even more competitive arena (Arena Hardcore, HCS settings?)

I have to admit, though, that I had a lot of fun training with infinite ammo. Being able to use the grappleshot all the time is -Yoinking!- frenetic and adrenaline-pumping, it feels like playing quake.

Drop wall is too slow to activate.

Overall, I would like to see more space for equipments in social modes. It wouldn’t hurt to have them right from the start by selecting the loadout, with infinite use and a little recharge time. In addition to the starting equip, you can always change it to those on the map.
I would give the possibility to take classic powerups on the map (overshield, camo) without having to discard equips, simply by passing over without having to press any buttons, as in the past.

For competitive modes (HCS), equipments “off” is fine. I would like also BR as primary weapon.

GRENADES: Reduce range of dynamos.
MELEE: I’m very happy for the return of the BXB. Adds depth and skill to close combat.
RADAR: Increase to 25 mt.

Las armas las veo un poco descompensadas, pero no una exageración que no se pueda arreglar en una semana
La pipa y la comando a veces dan la impresión de matar muy arbitrariamente, parece que a veces matas por aim y otras que le das en la cabeza sin escudo y no lo matas por la dispersión lo matas de otra bala que no iba a la cabeza, eso lo detesto.
El movimiento esta bien, pesado, quizás lo pondría mas ligero, pero va fluido es lo importante.
El sprint lo dejaría así, casi es lo mismo que andar pero es halo, esta bien, en competi le añadiría el thruster ese, el dash del h5 para los lados, al menos con 3 o 5 veces de uso, para todos obviamente.
La sniper definitivamente le quitaba la dispersión esa de -Yoink!- desde la cadera.
El salto esta bien
El gancho estupendo pero pa sociales, pa clasificado no lo pondría, demasiao over.
Los mapas mejorables tanto estética como jugablemente, pero no me parecen basura tampoco, anteriores halo eran mejores mapas todos que este. Además incitan a campear
La sensación de quitarle vida a un spartan no se tiene, eso me da pena, deberías notar que le estas arrancando la vida con cada disparo, el sonido es maravilloso de las armas, el mejor halo en eso, pero es contraproducente cuando disparas y escuchas ese sonido y no sientes nada.
El ar es ridí-Yoink!- que no tenga dispersión alguna, que le añadan dispersión y listo.
El gunplay es lo que he comentado antes, no es malo pero sientes que le disparas a muñecos en vez de a gente viva
Las power arms no las he probado todas y tampoco mucho, pero las he visto normales.

  • S7 Sniper Rifle - I feel like the S7 Sniper is missing a aggression factor to the reload. In my opinion, there should be more of a slam sound and animation when reloading the weapon. Right now it feels too tame and quiet, taking away from the satisfaction of using the sniper. - Shock Rifle - The Shock rifle has a very satisfying reload animation! But i can’t seem to get over the quiet sound the reload produces. Same as the Sniper, i feel like it should produce a louder slam sound when inserting the battery.

In its current state it’s too easy to pull off, if it was reworked to be a frame perfect execution thing then yeah I think it could stay.

The one thing I find weird about the technical preview is that the sensitivity feels off. I don’t know if it’s with all the new control settings or what but even with make sensitivity I still turn really slow but my accuracy is piss poor. Does anyone have some tips to fix this? I know the preview ends today but I still want to get some time in once I get off work.

Live Fire is a fantastic map. I don’t mind Bazaar either. But Recharge. Something feels off about that map. It’s really not enjoyable.
I don’t really know what I was expecting but I’d prefer to always have the grapple. Perhaps map it to the up on the d-pad or something. Or have overshield and active camo function the way they did in Halo 3 and remove the other equipment that doesn’t enhance gameplay.

Hey all. Noy sure if this is the right spot but I wanted to report that on starting 25.09 I have been unable to play multiplayer. I select the multiplayer option on the main menu however I am met with infinite (no pun intended) loading. Other than this, in my time of playing, Ive been really haply with the game and its been an honour. Keep up the good work.

Strongholds is probably the least fun version of a capture point game mode I’ve ever played in an FPS. The fact that only the team with 2 points captured gains score and only if neither point is contested at all is awful. It makes the game feel incredibly slow, to the point I nearly started quitting whenever it came up.

Please, just use the standard method for scoring in a game mode like this. Both teams gaining score based on how many points they have captured per tick.

I think that maybe the team with only one stronghold should still score but gain points a little slower than the team that has two

I do like that your team can’t kill you cuz every time I play Halo 5 online there is a team member trying to kill me this isn’t funny people but I do think that this should be a option in training mode

I think the weapon respawn time is well balanced. I am hoping in later previews we will be able to change our starting loadouts though. For example, starting with a VK78 Commando/ Assault Rifle as primary/secondary with a preselected ability. Much like how it is in Halo Reach. Keeping it in its current state does bring back classic Halo roots and I do enjoy that for this game mode. Just hoping loadout selection is a feature in other game modes.

I saw some comments of frame rate issues on Xbox. Playing on PC, I also noticed drops in frame rate and an almost “sluggish” response time when mounting ledges or sprinting. This was most noticeable when using the grapple hook and when trying to throw grenades. I’m definitely not the best Halo player around, but I found it much more difficult to stick a plasma grenade on an enemy player in this game. While in Reach and Halo 4, minimal effort was needed. A little rebalancing here would be beneficial.

I enjoyed the team showcase animations at the start of the match. I look forward to the ability to chose from multiple animations as seeing the same 4 repeatedly every match would get a little annoying after awhile.

Overall, had a lot of fun and look forward to Big Team Battle next week!

I doubt it’s unintended. BxR and BxB is a classic mechanic dating back to halo 2. With 343’s philosophy of combining all halos, they are surely aware of this one and most likely consciously put it in the game. However thats not really the point here - the point is that u dont want it regardless of the intent behind its inclusion.
