Infinite Tech Preview – Social Arena

I’m finding the game totally unplayable due to armor colors. I’m on the red team, half my team is blue, half the other team is red.

I understand the company wants to make money by selling armor to people, but red and blue should be banned. This isn’t a minor annoyance, this is unplayable to me. I’m not going to math it out in my head every enemy I see, you need to react in a split second to red or blue.

Revert the radar changes. Classic radar rewards camping and punishes movement. The game played fine I’m the first flight.

bug where melee animation, sound, and lunge will activate but no damage is done to player

all weapons seem to have an occasional bug where the projectile will fire with no animation or sound effect

The game is incredibly fun so far. can’t wait to play more

I still haven’t finished a match. It crashes every single time.

It takes exactly 1:43 of black screen on startup before I get to the splash. The splash lasts about 1 second.
The log in time from the title screen could be a few seconds or a full minute.
When finding a match it occasionally just sits there forever because I’m logged out for no reason but the game doesn’t seem to know it.
When I finally get into a match, it crashes my graphics card driver at exactly the same point in every match. About 3/4 through. Every single time. I’ve tried lowering the graphics settings but that does nothing. It’s like the game is on a timer or something.

The store works perfectly, though. So you know, the important part is fine.

  1. I can’t hear footsteps very well on dynamic range with astro a50
  2. Radar bring back halo 3 the Rader is useless I allwayskeep a eye on my radar but I don’t even look at it on arena it’s ether a hit or miss. I don’t see the one guy sneaking around me not crouch (keep the, if u crouch therefore u stay off radar) or seeing the whole team around me.
  3. the map size on bazaar and live fire is too small needs to be bigger by a bit by the time your radar pick the guy up his behind you and shooting you and the spawn, you flip so many time it really really bugs me can’t even hold a single stronghold for more then a min because of the spawn flip at times
  4. For odd reason when ever I finish a match and click a on the after match message my screen bugout and get multicolor pixels on whole screen for just a sec.
    5 the melee after u hit someone the first time has too short of a cooldown I had them rapid press it and was down, they were running at me hit me once then sec later was able to hit me again

That is my two cents right now

I want to preface this, saying “This is my criticisms of the flight”

Overall the Social Arenas are fun, obviously there are some things that need work, but I understand it is a flight, not a beta or the full game, so things are subject to change.

  1. With this Halo being like a collision of: Reach, 4, and a pinch of 5; Having played each myself, the playstyles of each differed greatly, with passive-aggressive to fast action into over the top action respectively. So, when being matchmade in a game, that feels like a Call of Duty lobby rather than a Halo one was a shell-shocker. Biggest thing I can say is the Arena mode is fun, especially with friends. The problem lies in matchmaking, personally I think maybe add a Classic Social Arena, for the people who want a Classic feel to the game, rather than being a victim to opponents rushing/chasing you down with no end.

  2. The maps flowed great, with the spawns being off every once and awhile.

In terms of arenas, this is the only feedback I have so far.

Bring back 25 meter radar. 18 is too small

This game is honestly so close to perfection, there are a few key issues that are holding it back so far. I am loving what I am seeing so far, this game is fantastic. There’s just a few things that kinda ruin it when they’re abused in social.

  1. BxB.
    If this is a bug, then I’ll let it slide, but if this was intentional, it needs to be retuned or removed before next weekend or the next flight. It’s unbelievably unfair to be essentially 1 hit melee’d the second you come into a close quarters combat fight with them.

  2. Grenades.
    In their current state, they are impossible to avoid. They can be thrown way to far and can bounce for so long. On top of that the blast radius is ridiculous, these could do with some major tweaking before next weekend or flight

  3. Lobby balancing.
    I don’t know if it’s even active during the flights but the games I’m playing feel way too unbalanced. I find myself getting stomped by people trying way too hard in a BETA! Each game I feel as if the lobby’s get harder to play against.

4.Sidekick.
I love this weapon as a close quarters hot swap weapon or as a quick back up to swap to, to finish up a kill. However, it’s range needs to be dialled back. I’ve been cross mapped countless times over the past 2 days by it and its almost impossible to outgun.

  1. controller aiming
    i don’t what was changed with it since the last flight but it doesn’t feel right anymore. It felt perfect in the first flight but now it feels kinda clunky and a bit janky.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this as I believe these are some issues that could potentially ruin the multiplayer for a lot of people and put them off from playing it. I had a hard time enjoying myself today as I felt like I had to play like a professional in the finals of a tournament just to win that one game. It’s left a slightly sour taste in my mouth but I’ll most likely get over it by the morning. This could be a drawback of having a smaller player pool due to the flight being a closed/ invite only beta, but it does still feel as if the games are too hard to play against. I hate to be a negative Nancy about this as this game is honestly a diamond in the rough, it’s an absolute gem and I think the team has done a phenomenal job with it. The game is near perfection right now, and I think if these were to be resolved, the experience would be more pleasant for a lot more people.

-Remove BXB.
-The rocket launcher ocassionaly the first shot has no sound.
-The assault rifle deals too much damage, makes trying to use the pistol pointless to aim for headshots.
-The BR rate of fire is very slow, makes no point to use it over pistol.
-Cant find a purpose to use the comando, is really bad long range, close range makes no sense.

Please increase the maximum controller sensitivity to at least 20, having just 10 feels too slow.

We need to see a Sidekick nerf. It’s become the Protagonist (aka, main character).

Rate of fire and range both need to be dialed back - it renders the AR completely useless.

Theres a button combo that allows u to double melee instantly. Its called BxB and its intentionally in the game. That guy wasnt cheating

My multiplayer games selection isn’t loading, not sure what happened. Is the game down?

Cons
BR RPM seems a tad slow
AR definitely overpowered. Not much reason to pick up the BR when the AR is easier and just as effective.
Commando needs an aim assist buff–Not sure if AA is bugged currently or not.
Sidekick could use a buff.
Hammer range is too long.
Sprint continues automatically after sprinting–Not sure if this is intentional. Sliding in general feels a bit useless
Grenade hit markers are unnecessary
Friendly fire should be on, I think
Too much chatter–Even with spartan chatter turned off. AIs talk too much. Theres no need for it to alert me that I picked up the weapon I intended to pick up. Hope this can be turned down/off.
Bro intros are as “cringe” as they were in the H5 beta.
In game suspense music is just meh–Would like an off feature.
Stronghold capture sound sounds too much like PC input detected notification.
Overshield screen effect is too much–I havent messed with video issues to know if this is changeable
I dont think automatic detecting when sprinting with flag is a good mechanic. Would also prefer RT to drop flag rather than melee.
Clambering feels inconsistent

Sprint in this game is ok,
Game looks great, overall
Equipment is well balanced and fun to use
Please keep BXB lol

I am flighting for the PC. Here are some negatives in this flight. This flight is worse than the first flight, and this is one of the worst fps I’ve ever played. you guys need to fix the sprint glitches. it is not smooth at all. if you tab out to respond to streams or discord you cant sprint or crouch the next game. you need to remove sprinting while carrying an objective item. also while sprinting the camera gets extremely blurry and bounces. ask yourself these questions does your view bounce and shake and get blurry when you are sprinting in real life. no so the camera and shouldn’t shake or blur while sprinting in game. there also needs to be a cool down on the sprint. there should be no reason you can sprint the entire game. there’s an issue with balancing with the sniper and the side arm. please completely redesign the sniper it zooms in too far with these small maps. the rocket launcher has zero splash damage and the grenades have 5 to 10 times mores splash damage than rocket launcher. you have to direct hit people with the rockets. the sidearm needs to be buffed to a 6 shot kill. the sniper is complete -Yoink- there shouldn’t and be that much bloom on a sniper. two body shots should be a kill and one headshot should be a kill. hitting the shoulder of your enemy while the reticle is is dead center on the head is -Yoink-. the sniper should be the most accurate weapon in the game. the splash damage on the new gun reaver should be increased and buffed just like the rockets. you shouldn’t have to direct hit someone to kill them when grenades a wider splash damage range. the AR is also significantly weaker than the first flight. The shotguns and the sidearm also need to be buffed. Essentially the power weapons have no power to them and you shouldn’t lose a battle when having a power weapon especially when you have the first shot on them. also what happened to the assassination feature? i havent been able to assassinate anyone in this flight but was able to in the first flight. Also these maps suck as well especially for objective gameplay they are too small especially when sprinting has zero cooldown. the reload speed on BR, Rockets, sniper, and AR, are way too slow and it feels unbalanced. shot registration is inconsistent between bot matches and PVP matches. PVP has some lag or instances when there ghost shots. creating parties using the in game friend list does not work at all. unable to join party using the in game friend list. cross platform play might have huge issues regarding party forming and joining other players. also i think the overshield is too week and burns too quickly. need to buff the OS. I have not been able to join a BTB game on PC. its always slayer or flag on bazaar. map rotation needs to be better.

Here are the positives of this flight. the BR is perfect don’t change it. the plasma pistol is perfect. The melees work this flight when they were not consistent last flight. the connection to the server in PVP is great. I am constantly getting 60 FPS and no input lag. maps are decent for slayer game type horrible for competitive or objective game types. I like how objective melee with flag or ball is now instant kill. I like the range on the AR but it still takes a full magazine to finish the kill if you miss a shot you aren’t winning the battle. The weapon spawns off the wall are way more consistent than the previous flight as in the first flight they were random. player movement regarding everything except sprint is significantly better than the first flight (jumping crouching normal movement turning lunging melee). inviting friends through steam and creating parties through stream is great and works the first time same platform. Radar is significantly better this flight compared to the first flight. all movement should show up on radar. radar was completely broken the first flight. there should be a no radar and no sprint competitive game mode in the PVP playlist.

I tried to download the halo channel app but it did load anything it just freezes on the yellow screen.

I should also add that i mean the classic 25 meter radar, where you appear on it while doing anything except crouching and standing still.

Played a few games, the feel from running and jumping feels way better. Honestly feels really good no complaints at all

Just remove bloom entirely and balance weapons appropriately. each gun feels awkward and different with bloom not equal and makes the sniper really hard to use. Also the sniper is inaccurate from the hip and having some RNG determine the accuracy of my perfect no-scope makes me not ever want to snipe. This ruins the weapon that has been the most challenging gun since combat evolved. Please if you do anything just revert the sniper to accurate from the hip.

If its intentional in the game, it needs to be removed.
