Infinite Tech Preview – PC Specific Feedback

Ryzen 7 2700x
STRIX GTX 1080
16GB RAM
Lowest possible settings
Resolution scale is set to 55% of 2560x1440 so effectively 1408x792

And I BARELY get 60fps. I hope this is symptom of it being a technical preview, and not even a BETA, nevermind the finished product.

Mouse scroll is too sensitive, I always get the same weapon when using it.

The game only runs off of my cpu only I checked task manager after seeing it was super blurry and had low frames on ultra and even medium settings and discovered my gpu isnt being used at all.

Now that I have gotten over the FPS issues, I’ve had some games and I’m ready to offer some more in-depth feedback.

Audio:
The audio in the game is top notch, sound design is great and I have had relatively no issues with popping, distortion, or washed out audio. One thing that did happen that threw me off was the announcer. When I died, the announcer announced ‘Skewer Available!’ 7 times in a row, back to back. That dude has some impressive lung capacity!

Controls:

Coming straight from playing Halo: MCC a few hours before, the new control scheme for Halo: Infinite… I hate it. Zoom doesn’t belong on LT on Halo, it belongs on RS (yes, I play controller on PC because it’s what I’m used to). I know you can change the scheme, which is good, I just don’t think the default is great. Another point about the controls is the sensitivity - It is very sluggish and slow, even with aim acceleration up to 5 and the Horizontal/Vertical both jacked up to max.

Visuals:

Visually, I like the game. I have the feeling of both old and new being molded together and having a sort of strange love-child, it’s great. So far I have noticed very few visual glitches, apart from my nameplate in the lobby turning a very fluorescent pink and flickering, but it’s only a flight, so that’s likely to be found and snipped.

Gameplay:

The gameplay loop is good, the weapons feel well designed and feel like they have their own identity. I hated your Halo 4 Sniper Rifle, but I can dig this S7 variant. One nice addition is the bots. Since it’s all we get to play at the moment, I don’t mind them, but I hope you don’t consider adding them into normal games when the game goes live. Leave it to the other players to jump in.

In Conclusion:

So far I am pleasantly surprised with what the game entails for the futute of Halo. I’ll admit, some of the design/gameplay changes and decisions with 4&5 did not give me the highest of hopes for 343s latest venture, but I have a newfound hope, I’m just itching for the release to see what you’ve got cooked up for the Campain.

Thanks for inviting us to the flight, it has been fun so far.

Found a bot on my team in Marine Bot Slayer, was not highlighted as a friendly and had a Bot type name in the Lobby leaderboard. Audio bug with muffled noise is also prevalent. Game Version was 199229.21.07.20.0001.fit002int. Unlisted YouTube link for detailed video here: Halo Infinite Bug Report (Bot on Player Team) - YouTube

Tune the mouse scroll for switching weapons its to inconsistent.

Waiting on black screen with 3 dots can take a while sometimes but always pulls through to title screen now. Hope this helps someone)

> Thanks,

Thank you! You definitely helped me out

Some bugs I’ve found so far;

  • If you are aiming in on the sniper when the game ends, you see it on the end screen
  • My GTX 1080 only has 20% utilisation on ultra, but is only reaching 30-40fps (I know that they said that there was no optimisation in the livestream, but shouldn’t it be utilising more of the card to make the fps higher?)
  • When I join a match that is in progress, the sound is muffled, and I hear the map sounds, like the birds over everything else
  • When trying to view guns in the shop at low settings, they appear very blurry and won’t load in fully
  • I’m not sure if this was due to lag, or another sound issue, but in one game I shot the sniper, and the final 2 bullets didn’t make a sound whatsoever, leading me to believe that they hadn’t fired
  • When the game is running at 200% resolution on the GTX 1080, the utilisation gets even worse, 9% for 25fps.

I know everyone Is reporting frame rate issues In this tech demo. I can’t stress this enough but I hope the team that does the PC optimizations understand that we need at least 3x the amount****of performance at launch for this game to be a hit to the PC community. Me personally can not play this tech demo and give feedback on gameplay at this time, I am too distracted at poor performance to even notice gameplay. Hopefully when the next demo/beta rolls around we see progress into the performance side of things. Also have noticed that some graphic settings don’t do anything when you change them. Glad to see a tech demo being rolled out this far away from launch great to see it!

Happy bug fixing team (:

I can only get as far as hearing the Halo music come on for a second before the game crashes. Updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest update and am waiting on an optional Windows update just in case that fixes it.

playing with a 9600K (OC’ed) and 1080 GTX @ 1080p ultra with 50-70 fps.
besides the fact that they already said performance will be bad, i think this game is really CPU heavy.

On weapon drills stars remains emtpy even if challenge is completed with 3 stars score.

Game keeps crashing when trying to edit key binds

I have not been able to play a single multiplayer game yet. I have been able to test weapons in the Academy, which has been great. However, every time I try to enter a bot match, it either says I lost connection to the server or it just sends me to the main menu. The Academy is great, but I would like the chance to play against the bots as well.

EDIT:
I was finally able to play a few matches. I did try a couple things, but I am not sure if they affected my situation in any way. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and I also updated my drivers. Again, not sure if that is what solved the problem, but just happy I was able to play a few matches. Looking good so far!

The flight always crashes when I press ‘‘Shift+Alt’’

Actually loving the feel of the moment to moment combat, slower than 4 & 5. I really didnt like the speed of those two. Less ways to just run away it seems and it prompts slower and more interesting combat IMO.

That being said, currently playing on a RTX3080, 10700k, with an ultrawide monitor at 3440x1440p 144hz and with all low settings I am getting around 90fps. I understand drivers havent really be optimized for this game yet ect and yes I am sure it will be improved upon but just wanted to feed that back. I have seen this before in other pre release software it seems settings dont seem to change anything very much. The only way I found to improve FPS was to ensure 144fps was minimum targeted frame rate but this TANKED the resolution to near unplayable level.

Also in some games (But not all) the combat felt slightly “Delayed”. I read that bots tax their servers more so may be an issue with latency from using the bots which is fine. Again just small things.

Never been a huge fan of fighting bots for very long and it gets a bit tedious when you just crush them so hope they up the skill curve soon.

Flight crashes if I try to edit my “Push-to-Talk” keybind.

Yeah, as everyone else has said the optimization needs serious work. Using a 3080 and i9-9900k and getting like 40fps. If this isn’t addressed by launch, game will 100% flop on PC
