I to wanted this. Most games have this now I hope at launch they can get this feature out I put a support ticket out for this.

I’ve been getting 40-60 FPS on 2560x1440P on Full screen with Ultra settings using the latest drivers. I turned it down to the lowest setting on everything at 720p to get a ok FPS of 80-100.

System specs are:
GPU: NVDIA RTX 3090
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X
Memory: 32GB 3200MHz
Motherboard: X570
PSU: 850W
Monitor: 2560x1440P 165Hz

> PERFORMANCE ISSUES - I have an RTX 2080 super and I am running the game on ultra with 80-90 fps. Even when I change the settings to high, medium, low etc It doesn’t affect the FPS I get.Personally, I would like at least 100 and the image sharpening tool in replacement for DLSS seems lackluster, clunky, and oddly blurry.

> - No option for Fullscreen just Borderless - Vsync option is capped below monitor refresh rate (mine is 144hz) - Loading screen times are very long, both to get into the game from launching and a match - On the rare occasion, players have spawned in before me cause I am still loading in.

> Overall definitely a stepping stone but needs optimization for PC for both AMD and even NVIDIA Cards. For PC gamers the lack of flexibility in changing options and seeing the FPS counter go up will cripple the number of people who can play a F2P title.

Well put together this really is the pc issue I have since I am running a 2070 super and got barely 50-60 frames at times with the presets really doing nothing at all.

Obviously PC performance was a sore point for most people. I am in the same position with everyone else when I say that I am hopeful that optimizations will help.

Big positive feedback regarding the PC settings menu and sheer volume of options available to players to customize performance, visuals, and accessibility settings. Less positive feedback around the PC navigation. The menu feels fine on Xbox but on PC it is less optimized. I would like to see better mouse navigation support with more to click on screen at once. The customization menus are a sore spot with very little visible at once and a lot of scrolling through options that will likely get worse with time as more and more content is introduced.

It will likely be a while down the road as well but a more unique pain point for me was the navigation to Challenges and the Battle Pass often felt inconsistent. On certain menus R would pull it up and other menus it would not. A dedicated key on the menu just for the Battle Pass would be preferred, that way it always one click away since it will drive the most consistent engagement.

Kills/Objectives in game should also progress the Battle Pass. Even if it is kept at 1 point per kill ratio that would still be several hundred kills for a full level. Weighting objectives slightly higher at 2-5 points per objective would help incentivize play in those areas as well as reward teams for playing around them instead of just farming kills in KOTH or Assault.

Selfish feature request: This is Microsoft’s biggest title to launch simultaneously on PC with both Steam and Game Pass support and a core multiplayer focus with free-to-play meaning more engagement than ever. This is a chance not just to drive people into Halo, but into Microsoft services. Game Bar is often fine, but just fine. Please consider a Halo Widget to add into Game Bar. The new Halo Waypoint app on Android is fantastic, but if I don’t want to check my phone for the Battle Pass and Challenges while loading into the next Slayer match I would love to just hit Win+G and pull it up there. Ghost Overlay for Game bar is a fantastic version of this for Destiny and even lets me pin it with transparency to check bounties as I play. If I could pull up or pin the Daily/Weekly Challenges for either Infinite or even MCC that would be brilliant. At very least, an open API for third party developers to make their own version would benefit the community and help attract people to Game Bar.

This probably is something that would fit under the bug technical support but now that the test is over I’ll just mention it here.

After the first patch or so I had an issue where the game didn’t save my keybindings after I quit the game. Every time I’d log back in I’d jump into a match and suddenly Q wasn’t melee and right click wasn’t grenade and I’d have to go hide in a corner and remap everything (fortunately the AI would ignore you if you weren’t directly in their line of sight and not moving). I’m sure this was a fluke of the temporary nature of the flight but since it’s certainly a PC issue I figured I’d post it here.

Aside from generic bugs, my biggest concern is how bad controller gameplay felt. Compared to all other Halos, the aim assist and bullet magnetism feel as if they dont exist at all, and the gameplay just becomes really frustrating at that point. I’m worried that if this isn’t rebalanced, then a lot of casual players will be very turned off by the game. Plenty of people have their own personal reasons for using controllers instead of mouse and keyboard, and making tracking your target so difficult (as it was in this preview) simply makes decent gameplay impossible for a lot of people. If players want to maximize their performance and be sweaty and competitive, they will play mouse and keyboard anyway, so the controller experience should be inviting and more casual, at LEAST for social matchmaking and campaign. The sound design was superb, the maps felt fresh and unique and fun, the weapons look and feel great, but it will be very hard for a lot of people to really appreciate how good the game is when they are struggling to land a headshot when they never struggled with it in any other Halo game.

I have a GTX 1660, Ryzen 5 3600, 16gb RAM and I can´t reach the 60FPS even with the graphical settings in low. Hope get a better performance for future flights.
Thank you and have nice tests.

The performance on PC was not great even with a 2080 super and I7 9700k. I would only get like 70 FPS when having the Minimal FPS set at 144. Doing this would also make the game look considerably bad due to the downscale of the resolution but it was the only way I could get a somewhat playable FPS as changing graphic settings seem to do nothing. I really hope that the PC version of the game will get a lot more love in the optimisation department.

When entering matches in the four dots screen, if i left my controller alone while any mode loaded, it would kick me out for being inactive, like i get it, but i got nothing to do while matches were loading

・Sometimes the key bindings cannot be changed.
・crashes when switching from US keyboard to Japanese keyboard.
(The key bindings can be changed if i change to a US keyboard)
・There was one game where the Pad’s Aim Assist didn’t work at all.

I think more and more people will be using PCs in the future, so please fix this.
thank you 4 reading & Good Luck From Japanese Spartan:)

AMD needs to update the drivers for this. I have a Ryzen 9 500 CPU and a 6800XT GPU with 64 GBS of 3200mhz ram on a samsung 980 pro m.2 SSD, i was barely getting 25 fps in full screen mode. I had to change the change to window mode at 1 percent difference my screen resolution and had to run the game at Make FPS in the Mid range and High Range just to reach 70 fps and even with that i had the game at medium settings.

Technical Feedback on PC

  • Overall, performance was okay but not great, but I am sure this is due to it being a technical preview, so I will not belabor that it could use optimizing - When entering a match in progress music audio is missing - When entering a match in progress I was stuck under the stage and killing myself did not fix the issue - The motion blur was way too strong by default. - The running bob is too strong for my tastes - Controller input felt a bit slow or clunky compared to Halo 5 - Controller aim correction felt weak compared to past Halo games, though this could be intentional. Overall it was not an issue. - Bots seemed unable to figure out how to attack me or reach me when I was on the tower on the one map. - Bots occasionally looked at the ground as if confused at who to aim at - When bots did lock on they were deadly accurate. - Early when playing against ODST bots they were doing a lot of ducking and strafing and then later matches they seemed to stop this behavior and the Spartan bots didn’t do it either.Weapon Feedback

  • I like the pistol. The clip feels too small, but this could be intentional to encourage weapon switching. - The AR is nicely balanced I think - The sniper feels like it fires a hair too slow between shots for my liking - I like the BR feel, but it is under powered, this could be intentional, but it doesn’t feel like it really has a niche especially when considering… - The VK78 Commando. It has a huge effective range and is perhaps too good at all ranges. - The Rocket launcher area of effect splash damage feels large, but I would have to see how it plays out.

Hello to whoever might or will read this,

Overall, the game has a lot of potential and the time that I had with it was pretty entertaining. For the most part, I really enjoyed the maps, bots and the “feel” of the game. In the following section, I would like to detail the aspects of the game that I liked, disliked and what could possibly be worked on to improve the game for the most part.

Bots:

  • The bots’ ability to replicate the fidelity of a PvP combat or match is very similar to the ‘real deal’ - The bots are formidable and are able to shoot assigned targets accurately - They are able to replicate the strafes that are used by various well-versed players - The downside is that they always try to run for power-ups. Maybe try to assign another variable to them that they can take priority, as it seems to me that the power-ups variable is the highest priority at the beginning of the match. This makes it too easy to get kills in the game. Gameplay:

  • The weapons sandbox offers new weapons that have never been seen in the past halo games, which is great and the training range would help out the newer players. - The abilities are great especially the grapple shot and the seeker. However, I noticed that there are no counters for these abilities. All over games, including previous halo games, have had counter abilities or ‘agents’ that could counter their own abilities. What I would suggest is to include damage that can be inflicted on these objects. Like let’s say the seeker can be shot down to prevent further leakage of a team’s location or the grapple can be shot and cuts the player from traversing to another location quickly. In particular, the grapple, because players can get a free out-of-jail ticket if they were low and want to get out of a firefight. - So far, the gunfights and gunplay are good and are reminiscent of the older or classic halo games. However, there was one thing I noticed is the heavy input delay with the mouse and keyboard. For some weird reason there is that issue, so make the aim as close to or the same as MCC. MCC had the best cursor movement, in terms of response and the smoothness of the movement. - The innate movement of the players is great, they do not obscure the gunplay and suit right in the sandbox. But maybe try to increase the sprint and slide speed for a bit. We do not want something that is redundant in the game. I found myself hardly ever using the slide because of the lack of momentum to get me to places. Bugs and issues:

  • Equipping both the Battle rifle and the heatwave (in vertical mode) and switching them out causes a replicable bug that briefly shows the ADS of the BR when pressing the FF combo (on mnk) or YY (on the controller). - There are many visual artifacts that are on the menu and there is blurring on the menu screen (with the standing spartan on the helo pad) when the effects quality are turned above low. My PC specs are down below in the next section. - There were times that the crate that gives you the weapon on the training range does not retract and obscures vision on the range. - Other times, the game settings i.e. controller, mnk, video, etc. did not save upon quitting the game. - There were issues with clambering correctly up on a ledge. - Issues with joining friends on the game. If I were to spam the join button on my friend’s profile, it would somehow launch mcc on my computer. This used to happen but after the hotfix, it seemed to have fixed it (unsure as I did not try it enough after the hotfix). - Lots of physics bugs in the game like death animations and the body of the spartan stuck on objects. - sticky aim on mnk, unsure about the controller. - Lack of stability and optimisation of the game. I expect something that is running with a mid-range card to be running on medium to high settings at 1080 60fps. There are no excuses in the final release, as APEX Legends and Fortnite run on high settings in the range of 60-90 fps. I am confident this will be fixed. PC specifications:

  • OS: Windows 10 Home; 21H1; 19043.1110; 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor - CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor; 3.40 GHz (base clock); 3.90 GHz (boost clock) - RAM: 8.00 GB patriot viper; 3200 MHz; CL: 16 ms - GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 1650 super Galax; 4GB VRAM - Motherboard: AsRock B450 steel legend - Storage: SSD; 500 GB crucial P1; HDD; 1TB WD; 7200 RPM I would like to express my appreciation for inviting me to this flight. This was a first step in the right direction for the game. Hope this game is a good game when the final product releases! Once again thank you for inviting me to partake in this flight.

Seems AMD GPU related. Is your graphics card AMD?

Edit: looking through your posts, you have the same card as me, AMD RX 5700XT.

Hey below I am going to post weird bugs/issues, things I liked, and my own suggestions. Overall, I had a ton of fun and have been excited since the initial E3 reveal. Can’t wait until the open beta!

Bugs/Issues:

  • When I would tab in or join in a match late the sound would be significantly quieter however, when Map 2 was added during this flight it seemed to occur very rarely
  • Weird visual blocks either in the menu or in game. Very rare to happen but literally bright red or yellow squares would appear and I could not seem to purposely replicate it
  • On 100% scaling and low settings the game looks kinda blurry from 60%-100% sharpening. Increasing the resolution did help but I have this problem only with this flight
  • I have other things to include but they will be included further below for the Suggestions section

Things I liked:

  • The confirmation of crossplatform/cross-input for competitive scene is freaking awesome and the best decision for the competitive life for the game at least initially. After a full year of testing adjustments will be made accordingly but for now I am excited to compete on M&KB!
  • How sprint and the radar works now. It is clear sprint and the radar are balanced in a great spot, keep it as is
  • The latter two maps were awesome and have me excited to see more of the map pool
  • The lobby system is awesome and can’t wait to fill it up with my friends
  • The drills implementation is something I have been wanting for years so thanks for that
  • The audio design is just chef’s kiss
  • The bullet magnetism and aim assist balance seems to be pretty solid but we will so moving forward, it is not as crazy as H5/Halo Reach
  • Inclusion of bots is dope
  • The inclusion of scanning/pinging is cool and I am glad it is easier to learn maps
  • The change to the outline system is also one of the best decisions going forward for Infinite
  • The feel of the game is also perfect and a fantastic balance of a old/new halo. Very hyped!
  • The art direction/design of armor, environments, weapons, and literally everything is fantastic. Good stuff to the teams involved!
  • This game has the best battlepass system of each one never expiring
  • The settings menu is extensive and detailed, it really impressed me the options for accessibility/customization.

Suggestions:

  • Across the board, we can all agree performance and the visual clairity needs to be improved for release. I understand this is a preview of two month old build but I want to stress it is pertinent the game needs to feel smooth with low latency/input lag to have a successful initial trajectory for release. This is the number one thing why my friends did not bother with the preview after one hour even after troubleshooting.

  • The UI is a bit of a mess on PC since it is horizontal and feels like the MCC menu where it is laggy. I have seen some concept designs on the halo subreddit where it lays things out vertically when viewing armor customization. Moreover, to access the store feels awkward on PC and you need to access the battlepass through the store to view your rewards, it was really strange. In addition, we need to be able to customize our UI! For example, moving the kill feed, text chat, spartan weapons/equipment. Moreover, the ability to toggle medals on/off and even pick which ones we want displayed.

  • The battlepass system you have in place is awesome for a live service game but I do hope progression is tied with match xp against players and not just completing challenges.

  • The scan I think needs to be disabled for ranked/competitive play. You can see where weapons exactly are and guess where enemies are based on that info.

  • Speaking of competitive, ranked needs to have the same settings as HCS. What I mean by this other than modes and settings is crossplat/input matchmaking, it is a must.

  • The pistol needs either a buff in capacity in damage, it should reward two perfect kills.

  • The new power weapons I genuinely do like but they need better feedback/clarity when shooting them.

  • The outline system is awesome and I know you guys are working on it but yes the visual damage you do to an enemy needs to be clear at least when they are half shield, shield about to break, and a broken shield.

  • The first map available needs to be touched up a bit I think, it feels a little too generic, especially compared to the other two, but maybe over time I will come around.

  • The gravity hammer feedback feels weird and the sound sounds a bit strange. If it had more oomph but not as loud as the Halo 3 grav hammer then it would be perfect.

Hopeful for optimization in the coming months. I was barely able to get above 50 fps on all low settings with the following specs:
CPU: R5 2600X
GPU: GTX 1650 SUPER
RAM: 16 GB

I’m hoping that for a F2P multiplayer experience that wants to gain back its competitive audience, the game will be significantly more optimized on launch.

-RTX 3090 and a Ryzen 5800X all settings on low felt super un-optimized.
-FPS said 70-80 but the stutter was felt.
-Got better after update to fix said stutter.
-Stutter returned for the 2 hour PVP portion but went away again during BOT slayer.

Bugs:

  1. When restarting/quitting the game back to desktop windows, the game does not save controller settings, weapon settings, and video settings.
  2. The toggle/hold to see score during gameplay, automatically is toggle. I had mine on hold and it would remain open.
  3. When running/jumping/t-bagging, looking down you can see inside of your Spartan.
  4. The first second of over shield deployed when your shields are depleted, it does not register and keeps you one shot.
  5. There we’re several times I did not have audio during gameplay.
  6. When bringing up the menu during gameplay, sometimes my screen would flicker white and black in the background.

Input/feedback:

  1. Hold to zoom (on/off) setting; This setting through me off. Halo 5 allows the player to have both options. For example, I can hold my zoom button and the zoom will de-zoom once released. If I need to scope to 10x zoom, I have the option to toggle. Please consider having both options.
  2. Playing PC with controller, there is a slight input delay. 10 sensitivity feels like 7 sensitivity on MCC/H5. Please considered adjusting the sensitivity, or adding 15 sensitivity option,
  3. I personally think the slide is a bit stretched out.
  4. The medals in gameplay are too small.
  5. Put the grenades/weapon ammo, etc, back to the top of the screen, or allow there to be an option.
  6. Allow players to earn XP from individual score.

Positive:
-I liked the guns they were really fun to shoot
-Bots were actually somewhat difficult at times
-Training range is super cool although I wish there was a bigger space to just run around in and get used to everything
-Most of the equipment was pretty cool except for the drop wall, that one seemed kinda useless
-I actually like that the ar is pretty good but I wish it was a bit harder to use
-Bazaar is a super cool map and i liked recharge a lot as well
-Outlines are way better than rvb to me even though it isn’t “classic”

Negative:
-Aiming with the mouse had a super weird feeling, it wasnt as smooth as other games I play like apex, warzone, or even splitgate
-Slide felt a bit clunky to use, I think you should be able to steer it a bit and the start of the slide should just be pretty much instant, I think it should also speed you up more than it does (yeah i know this is all apex stuff but it would make the slide much more fun to use and it would even make it more useful)
-Melee lunge is way too far, it locks on much more than it should, and it just does too much damage imo
-Bullet magnetism is still too high for me, but I don’t really see this getting changed because Halo needs a lot of bullet magnetism for whatever reason even though it makes the guns too easy to shoot imo. But at least for the competitive playlists, it’d be pretty cool for the bullet magnetism to get turned down some.
-The mouse magnetism setting should not exist as an option or as a default mechanic no matter how much it helps, most kbm players don’t want help when aiming they want raw input, if you added it to balance both inputs just nerf controller. Adding aim assist to mouse is just a completely terrible idea.
-The ar should be harder to use than it is especially if its going to be good
-I think the base movement speed should be a bit faster

Out of the negative stuff probably the most important things for me are: aiming with a mouse should be more responsive and better feeling, melee lunge should be nerfed and maybe damage, and the bullet magnetism should be lowered a lot still.
