Infinite Tech Preview – PC Specific Feedback

PC Specs:

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 19043)
Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (16 CPUs), ~2.9GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER
Display Memory: 16102 MB
Dedicated Memory: 8010 MB
3840x1080 32:9 super ultra wide monitor

Constant crashes if I put the settings on anything above Low. It did not matter if I was in windowed or full screen, it would just crash. All drivers were up to date. Was monitoring my PC performance with task manager, and nothing was being pushed hard enough to cause these crashes. I would be lucky if I was able to finish a game. Performance would be around 50-60fps, with a consistent 55-58 in both windowed and full-screen.

Also, there was a setting in which you can adjust the position of the HUD. If you used this setting at all, it would cause the targeting reticle to disappear.
Another problem was how customizing your spartan would mean that I could never see the helmet due to it being cut off since the camera was not tuned for my monitor size. This same problem would occur during the opening animations at the start of a slayer match too. I would have screenshots, but I forgot to take any before the flight closed.

Only real issue I encountered was the following

-Muffled sound until I relauched the game (I think it only happenned after joining an in progress game)
-I had visual glitch were my guns would double in movement

Played with 5600x 32gb 3080
Ultra settings 90-100 fps 1080p
Low settings 100-110 fps 1080p
both with 120 fov.

My windows crashed a few times while writing a detailed feedback.

Bots are smarter but they sometimes tries to kill you with nades if they don’t have direct view at the player.
Needler can melt players at 1.5 seconds but supercombine effects are not special.
Bots sometimes ignore the player if a drop wall is between them, even at melee range if you are standing still. A bot just walked near me (1 meter) and ignored me.
If you are standing still (afk at menu) the bots will take longer to kill you (worse aim)
Bodies clipping at Livefire overcharge.
Livefire tower allows control of both shield and power weapon

Overwall gameplay was really good, I love the movement and equipment in this game

Only problem is that Optimization is terrible as others say. so it makes it a little hard to talk about weapon balance with poor performance

No audio in weapon drills, only subtitles. This was not a problem during my first session of testing, but has since then occurred in every other session.

Changing keyboard language on PC (through hotkey Alt+Shift) seems to crash the game every single time. I tried it three times in a row in different settings (multiplayer, weapon drill and main menu after loads) and it immediately freezes and will not respond afterwards.

Customization was buggy at times, sometimes it didn’t allow me to equip items such as visors or helmets I had unlocked (there was no “F to Equip” function until I went out of the menu and back). Additionally, most of the prostheses settings also didn’t seem to work, when switching to prosthetic arms/legs it would either not switch back or would switch the wrong bodypart (e.g. changing left leg prosthetic actually changed right leg/right arm.) After repetitively trying to see the pattern of what changed what, the game eventually crashed upon changing prostheses.

You’ve already heard this a million times I know, but this game runs so poorly for no reason. Had to play on 1080p low just to struggle for 60 fps. I have a RX 5700xt graphics card, overclocked, a Ryzen 7 3800x, also overclocked, and 32 GB of 3200MHz RAM, with the game downloaded onto an NVME ssd. Get this game optimized and I will love it.

Double tap protection on mouse wheel weapon scroll please - as it is the default option.

In general it was a really good tech preview. I really enjoyed the gameplay, but,
Like other said, the only thing that I noticed was the optimization.

PC Specs:
OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit, most recent updates
Processor: i7-9700k @ 5.0 GHz
Memory: 32GB
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB (Driver version 471.41)
Primary Display: Dell SG2716DG @ 1440p native & 144hz

Like others, I was seeing lackluster performance on this test build with my machine that is more than capable. I did as requested and set my minimum FPS to 32(?) and my max to my native refresh rate, which was 144. I averaged about 60 fps but it varied from as low as 50 and as high as 75 or 80. This was on the High settings preset as well, not even Ultra.

I played with a 1660ti and the game couldnt go more than 40 fps in the lowest settings and was using 100% of te cpu

not a huge computer expert but I will say that I could run the game on any settings and the framerate never exceeded 60 fps, which is strange considering I run almost anything else at 144fps at 1440p. all of my bug complaints are in my other responses so I wont repeat myself here.

Running with an i9-9900k, rtx 2070super, 32gb ram, game on an nvme.

Was seeing around 100fps on all high settings while streaming at 60fps. Was rather impressed for it being a tech preview.
Ran into a couple issues no different from others,

  1. Random crashes (about 4 in total)
  2. Settings re-verting after closing/launching game
  3. Having audio come in at a low volume.
  4. A few games getting kicked out, having party members kicked.

Side note: used both controller and m/kb - controller felt… off? I couldnt aim to save my life ( i play a crap load of RL on controller), k/bm felt buttery smooth and will likely play that the majority of the time.

Overall very solid fun experience. Cannot wait to play again.

Hello everyone,

I figured since this is supposed to be feed back on the game I’d post my entire experience.

The flight started off incredibly rough, it took me approximately 6 hours to get my steam key because Waypoint just kept crashing over and over. I know this is due to a high volume of people all trying to do the same but it was a grueling experience where I had 4 windows open refreshing every 5 minutes to finally get there.

Once the download was finished I launched the game and for some reason it wouldn’t connect online, a simple restart solved the problem but this happened on multiple occasions where I would attempt to join and lobby and it just wouldn’t start the search.

Throughout the UI as a whole I feel as though it was not aimed towards the PC community. Prime example when I went to the weapon drills for the first time I didn’t know what the weapons were because they have never had these names before. I hover over them and the image doesn’t change so I can see it, but if I click on it then I get put into the drill even though I just wanted to see what the weapon was. Another example is with the battle pass as you hover over the items it doesn’t say what they are you have to click them which brings you to a completely separate page, which is just cumbersome. I feel like the UI as a whole had a lot of unnecessary actions needed to navigate it, the customization is a great example. When I hover over a piece of armor and click it I feel like that should equip it, but no it takes me to another screen and then still even if I click it nothing happens I have to press f or hit the equip button. I know this is a small thing but as a PC player I found it super annoying, and seemed very clunky.

The shop as a whole seemed empty as there were supposed to be daily items that would change but never did, and the same items remained available the entire flight. That being said I’m sure at launch that will be dramatically different, even so you only had access to 4 items in the shop for customization to purchase that either needs to rotate fast or there needs to be more in my opinion.

Customization in this game is pretty awesome but I have one gripe; in EVERY halo prior to now we’ve been able to use our own color schemes, why are you limiting that now? I don’t think the palettes are a bad idea but I do think that we should be able to use a basic palette with basic colors if we choose to, and make the color palettes we earn be really cool and dramatically better or just different from what we can choose in our basic little palette. Another thing to note I wasn’t a fan of the Maltese weapon skins they just seemed so basic, loved the red though. Last thing and I’ll move on I didn’t really feel the presence of my AI all that much maybe I wasn’t doing something right but I just feel like I barely heard my AI for that customization to even matter.

Gameplay. Man… for the most part y’all nailed the game play. I had two friends come over and they asked to play; one of them a long time halo fan (knows the whole halo timeline by heart including the offshoot games) and one who thought the older games weren’t fun (blasphemous I know). BOTH of them thoroughly enjoyed the game, and were impressed with the overall gameplay. I will note that they both played with controller on my PC and two things spawned from this; 1. It reset my key binds on mouse and keyboard (I ended up spending a whole match almost afk trying to fix it), and 2. they felt that the sensitivity and general over all feel of playing on controller via PC felt mushy or clunky. I don’t know I never played on controller. The only complaints I have are

  • Sidekick feels too weak, it takes like two mags to kill someone. - The Commando rifle (I think that’s right), also WAY too weak takes almost a full mag up close to kill someone, and even with headshots. - Grav Hammer feels awful, I literally had a bot kill me before I could swing down to kill it, and there’s like no lunge whatsoever. - Sprinting feels bad, it just doesn’t feel like you are moving hardly any faster at all its only good for sliding. - The newly added map (Can’t remember the name) made the Bulldog and AR feel really bad because the map felt like it was setup for long range engagement. - The open mic thing, but I’m sure that’s gonna get a fixThat’s it.

Overall while there were some frustrating bits for the most part I had a lot of fun. Your ODST bots murder. The game feels good. I look forward to hopefully flighting again in the future.

EDIT: I forgot to mention a bug I found, if you set the scoreboard key to a key and then press it it caused me to crash. I tested it 3 times in a row to verify it was repeatable and it was.

Due to IRL stuff I only got in about 5 hours in the test this weekend. It was definitely a learning experience for me being new to PC.

Most importantly though, I had a lot of fun. Everything felt really good, and is what I have been imagining what a new Halo should play like in terms of MP. The guns felt good, the new guns were so much fun, especially the skewer! I didn’t get as much time messing around with the grappling hook as I had hoped, but still super cool. Speaking of the grappling hook, I was a little sad that it had limited uses, but I suppose that makes sense for balancing purposes so that really good players don’t have a continuous advantage. I can’t wait to see more of Halo Infinite MP and I hope that I get invited again for future flights!

Here is my feedback for the Halo infinite tech preview. I will break it up between two categories; performance and cosmetic.

PC Specs:

  • NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super - 32 GB RAM - i9-9900k - 1TB M.2 SSDPerformance:

  • Guns shoot very well and overall fairly balanced with the exception of the snipe rifle. The sniper reticle seems to be off from where you are actually shooting and the zoom in scope looks terrible. - Movement felt good overall. - FPS could not get over 90 FPS and that seems to be an issue on the side of the beta and could very well just be limited based on the scope of the test. - Noticed a good amount of screen tearing.Cosmetic:

  • Medals look very bland. Most of the colors seem to be the same or similar, specifically the multi-kill and spree medals. I would love to see them cleaned up and polished for the release. - The map Bazaar seems very dark and bland, would love to see more color in the maps.

PC specs:

  • Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 19042) - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER - 16GB RAM - Intel(R) Core ™ i5-9600K CPU @ 3.70GHz (6 CPUs), ~3.7GHz
The Infinite Tech Preview was overall very good, with the graphics maxed to ultra I had no frame drops and was averaging around 59 fps with the maximum set at 60.
Putting the server problems aside, I face a couple of bugs:

  • Audio cut when joining an ongoing game. - Armor color change wasn’t working most of the time, the same goes for the limbs. - Key bindings going back to default (it only appends once) and most frustrating the FOV setting resetting almost every time I launch the game. - Game crashing when pressing ALT will using SHIFT. - The network statistics setting wasn’t working and always at 0. - Long black screen at the start of the game.
Putting aside the burst carbine, which I didn’t really like, most of the weapons were good. I was eager to test the newly added weapons and they fill great, shame that they weren’t any vehicle to test the Skewer on, it wasn’t that useful during this preview.
The mechanics, overall, are feeling great, I was sceptic about the friend or foe system, but I had no real problem, it can still be improved a bit to make it more visible so you don’t shoot your teammates, movement is awesome, gadgets are good and the sprint was well balanced.

A very good first impression of the game, but you fill that it needs some polishing in some area:

  • The ability to mute someone. - The post-game stats menu doesn’t fill that great. - No way to distinguish the body types or change the voice. - No ray-tracing - The XP consumables shouldn’t count down when you aren’t in a game or 30 minutes is just too short. - In game shop pricing is right when you compare the cost of the season pass with the weapons skin’s bundles. - The gap between Spartan and ODST bots might need some improvements
Most of the problems are from the fact that it’s still a WIP, but I still add a blast playing and cannot wait to play again.
Thanks 343 for letting me play the game.

This is late feedback, but thought I should say nonetheless. I run a 3600x with an rx 5700xt, but only pull 80 fps with all settings on low and dynamic resolution. On top of that, i’m seeing weird artifacts that almost look like orbs of the in game lighting. I wish I captured the phenomenon in a video but unfortunately not. it looks like a bunch of different coloured lens flares along the bottom of the screen.

I was running the game on a 1080, and after doing so many things I got the game to run at 60fps at 1080p. I think the game needs better optimization, but there’s still time to fix that, so I won’t worry about that.

I love the game so far, but the speed of it is a bit too fast. Feels like other fps and I know halo for being a bit slower paced, but I can live with it. My one little concern is the spread on the AR, if I can get long shots with it, what’s the point of using my pistol? So it’s honestly more of balancing issue with, maybe slow the game a bit and increase the spread of the AR to what it was in the original halos.

Performance would be around 50-60fps. no matter if i change it to low or high etc Im using amd ryzen 9 3900x. AMD rx 6800 xt 16 gb ram @4400mhz windows 11. 1080p resolution
