FEEDBACK:

Really solid, its really not that buggy

  • 60 % GPU utilization - Bazaar = 2560 x 1440p Ultra, 0% CAS 60fps+ - Live Fire = 1920 x 1080p Upscaled , Low, 0% CAS, 60fps+ - Recharge = 1920 x 1080p Upscaled , Low, 0% CAS, 60fps+ - Reason for low settings on Live Fire and Recharge is due to texture popping. Forged maps? When going from static to in motion texture quality pops back and forth (most notably terrain textures) and poorly optimised. - Early in the flight the sound would occasionally bug and the music would be gone. - On Bazaar when jumping to the middle of the map from either side the picture would cut out intermittently for a second. - Customization wouldn’t save early in the flight but has since stopped. - When the FOV is below 90, the movement seems to judder the screen, I imagine its the walking/sprinting mechanics but its not fluid and a little disorientating. - Maps feel solid, would like the inclusion of longer lines of sight. - No issues with the Vault/Grappling Hook mechanics. - Would love to see the inclusion of more precision weapon spawn points. - If the carbine could have the inclusion of a single shot as trying to finish an unshielded opponent with the burst feels like pure luck, it might take 1 burst, it might take 3. - The sniper feels quite clunky, I don’t know if its just the reload time but I actively avoid it. - I think you’ve nailed the BR and Skewer (Reload time warranted due to it being a one shot) - The Commando could have a bit more kick due to its lack of precision and also the bulldog and heatwave seem a little weak. Also the grenades feel weak, the damage radius seems too small/ time to from throwing to equipping your weapon a little long. - Its not very intuitive to find the weapons spawn points, when scanning could you increase the duration of the highlighted spawn points and perhaps give an indication of what is spawning there? - The pistol in the hands of the AI is so deadly, it could be my proficiency with it but is seems more powerful. - Again it could be my proficiency but I’ve gotten a few running riots/ rampage/ perfections etc, when an opponents shield is broken, finishing them seems the luck off the draw, it might take one headshot but sometimes it seems to be multiple, especially with the pistol / carbine. The gameplay overall is great, its fun, the map design is ok (its a little one dimensional) maps like Construct/ Lockout/ Prisoner come to mind where there were strongholds on the maps and ways to navigate to get to those strongholds but it came with risk e.g grav lifting, traversing exposed areas, sneaky jumps. I think you get a little bit of that with the maps in infinite but no where near as much, I think mainly because of the size of the maps and sprint.

Loving the flight so far, playing through Steam, i9-9900K and Radeon 5700.

– My biggest issue is performance is much lower than expected. barely 60fps on “ultra” 1080p, even lowering to “low” 720p only yields ~10fps. Hopefully this is just an optimization issue I feel this set up should run ~100-120fps on medium settings. Also, fullscreen should be an option, not just borderless windowed.

– Aim on controller feels slightly wonky. I have played on the same sens and accel setting for years on older Halos but it just doesn’t feel the same here. Needs some fine tuning.

– UI is a bit unintuitive but overall not bad. Text chat should be a click on the stick like in MCC rather than holding down start. There should be a button to bring up the consumables menu at all times, not just while in the carnage report. Equipping different armor and coatings to your spartan should just be another A press, having to press X is a bit confusing.

– Having X and Y both bring up a different challenge/battlepass screen is redundant and confusing, make one of the screens show your consumables instead, similar to how Y brought up the Req menu in H5.

– Rotating items in the store are FOMO, and should not be in the game.

– Shields should not recharge while sprinting, and sprint should only be unlimited in campaign.

– The pistol starts are good for social and bot arena, but competitive playlist should have BR starts.

– Competitive playlists should also be plain red vs blue, but the new system is cool for social games.

– BR TTK seems slightly too slow, the rate of fire feels sluggish and it doesn’t feel like the main “utility” weapon it should be. I am loving all the other weapons, sidekick and bulldog are a surprising welcome to the sandbox.

– Map design and balance all seem awesome so far, although I hope there will still be some symmetrical maps.

– Bring back the “Hold to Clamber” setting auto clamber can be unpredictable at times, and pressing the jump button twice feels unnatural.

– Pressing Y should always descope you even when you don’t have a second weapon equipped. This made the sniper academy really hard for me as thats how I normally unzoom.

I wonder how this comes in my Xbox one. I will however play on PC to enjoy more frames or until I but my XSX.

With the graphics settings in “ultra” at 1080p the game goes between 55-75 fps. All good so far, the problem is that when changing the graphic settings to “high, medium or low” there is not a big increase in fps.It would not be bad to include AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution or NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 to increase the fps.

When i go to the halo insider tab I don’t see my key, i followed the instructions in the other replies and on the Halowaypoint site, but still cant find my key. I’ve seen some people say the key is in an additional info tab, but I don’t see that either.

Controller on PC feels kinda off. I think maybe somewhat is that there appears to be almost zero aim assist. While I do agree decreasing aim assist is healthy for halo to bring the gap closer in MnK vs controller, what happening in infinite right now feels a bit excessive?

Thanks! Keep up the great work

I’m hoping that full-screen becomes an option in the final produc vs the borderless window option we have now.

Hey guys,

So far I’m loving this tech preview. Only one minor issue I’ve found: my Nvidia Instant Replay option for capping clips won’t record in Halo Infinite. I can take screenshots, but not perform screen caps.

Thanks!

I think this is the correct thread to report this bug because I found it only in the PC version.

Setting the controller input to Custom sets the switch grenade button to nothing while giving you no indication of the fact. Setting the button back to its default (which is now unbounded) crashed the game to my desktop.

Overall very fun to play but my main complaints that NEED to be addressed before launch are:

  • Performance on a 5900X + RTX 3090 is atrocious. Not only is the framerate low, but the frame timings are all over the place leading to a stuttering mess, even with all settings on lowest. The performance difference between Ultra and Low seems minor. The game should not be performing this badly for how mediocre it looks. Apex Legends dances circles around this game from a performance and beauty aspect. - Please please PLEASE let us turn off the TAA and give chromatic abberration its own toggle, they are awful and make the game look really blurry and bad. I love having CAS sharpening in-game, but even at 100% it can’t clear up the TAA blurriness. - All of the guns sound… really boring to be honest, especially the AR and Needler, even grenades and powerups sound pretty boring. Bungie’s Halo games had really iconic sound design, and 343 has consistently struggled to make their sound stand out. Honestly every gun needs another audio pass to make them feel more “fun” and “Halo-y”. They all sound like uninspired Call of Duty knockoffs. I understand 343 wants their own identity and to evolve the gun sounds, but there’s no reason to disrespect the Halo history so much. The needler is by far the worst offender with absolutely 0 fun in the supercombine explosion.Common bugs I ran into and I’m sure will be addressed are:

  • Failing to connect to a match - Buying the Battle Pass kind of failed to register initially - In one of my matches, all of the audio dropped by a significant level except for the music and AI helper - Bot AI frequently freaks out and stands still

Lmao, I hope they don’t listen to feedback like this. BR starts RUINED previous games, I could literally write a book as to why. BR in Infinite from what I’ve seen looks balanced, it’s meant to be a mid-long range engagement device, it’s going to lose out to weapons like the sidekick in close quarters because they have different damage falloffs. There are videos on youtube showcasing this and why that’s a good thing. Stop trying to make the BR the end-all-be-all god weapon. It makes the games boring and ruins the sandbox, and is just plain annoying.

The game is nearly unplayable using a Vega 56 and Ryzen 1600. I’m also on 144hz monitor but switching over to an old 75hz monitor made little difference, mouse movement feels incredibly choppy right now, the series x controller didn’t help that much either. I got 35 to 40ish frames on medium graphics on the first two maps of the flight, Baazar seems to dip below 30 in the middle of the map. I hope that optimization is a top priority right now.

Bazaar was a great example of how fun and exciting physics based objects can be in Halo

Seeing stuff fly around makes the match more interesting and action packed.

-More of these destructible and physics based items should be added in other maps (some feel very empty and have no life in them), for graphical customization there can be a toggle in Video settings to choose how many you want the game to load, People with higher end graphics cards can add a ton more and have -Yoink- flying around everywhere with cinematic glory.

-The Covenant weapons bullet impacts need to be changed, they look like Pidegon Poop.

-UNSC muzzle Flares need to be revamped, they do not look good at all.

  • Cannot see Teammate Gamertags

-Animations after and before a match are slow and janky, they should pop in much quicker.

My primary issue is frames. I have a Ryzen 2600X paired with 16gb of RAM and a GTX 1070. In-game averages around 50 fps, but it feels worse. Not sure if there’s a frame time issue or what.

When i have tried to change the keybind for push to talk, it crashes the game every time.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
RAM: 32GB
GPU: GTX 1080 Ti
GPU Driver: 471.41 (30.0.14.7141)
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Version: 21H1
OS build 19043.1110
Monitor: 2560x1440, 165Hz

GPU usage sits at ~14% in-game, temps are barely above idle. Poor frame-timing, framerate is atrocious for the level of graphical detail/fidelity on display. Seems like a lot of people are having low GPU usage issues.

Actually playing on a low-end configuration (Ryzen 5 1500X, RX580 8Gb, 16Gb RAM), currently at 35-40fps on low-medium at 1920*1080.
Weapons feel good but they need some accuracy tweaks (the Sidekick is fine). Don’t change the sounds, they feel perfect. Recoil mechanics are great and bring a new dimension to Halo gunplay. Bulldog needs a buff though, it’s good but not as deadly as a shotgun should be.
Grapple hook needs a bit more range, not a lot but maybe 5 meters should do it. Just enough so we can grab higher ridges more easily.
You should add an astigmatic mode for the settings menu, or at least allow us to change the colours of the menu (I have some difficulties reading bright white over black screens, some others may have the same issue).
We need an option to turn down the enemy’s damage sounds (when you hit/kill an enemy) without turning down your own damage sounds (when you recieve damage).
Music is great but I miss some more classic-styled Halo musics (those ones are rocky).
Sprint needs a bit more speed. I understand it’s mostly to balance between anti-sprints and those who like it, but we need to have a real reason for sprinting other than using sliding.
Bots are great and pose a serious challenge, can’t wait to try on the Spartan bots.
The game is visually stunning (though I can’t appreciate it at its full due to my rig), hats off to the team for that. The designs are great and feel classic.
About bugs, I have encountered some crashing issues here and there but nothing serious. Had to change the “Switch grenade” control from ‘Alt’ to ‘X’, as I did crash a few times when switching grenades while holding ‘Shift’ for sprinting.
Map design is awesome, I love the verticality of Recharge. Only issue is that bots tend to be predictable in the first minute as they always take the same path.

I may add more to this feedback as the flight goes on.

The guns feel phenomenal but the recoil on the Commando seems inconsistent.

Bloom on incoming Pulse Carbine projectiles is aggressively blinding in many cases and could be tweaked or tuned down a little bit.

Reticle bloom on the MA40 AR doesn’t feel like it captures the inaccuracy of prolonged firing very well.

While I haven’t tested it yet, I’ve heard and seen the Gravity Hammer not having any Gravity to it. No knockback, explosives feel the same way. No weight to the explosions or force from impacts.

Sprint could be marginally faster as we’ve seen and tested that basic walking speed is maybe less than a handful of percentages slower than sprinting. By no means am I asking for Halo 5 levels, but maybe another couple percentages faster.

The Customization for spartan prosthetics is all sorts of messed up. Changing leg prosthetics arbitrarily changes Arm prosthetics and vice versa. Transhumeral prosthetics have non prosthetic elbows that clip.

Butlr AI for me maintains the physical model but is just made up of Red squares, likely texture errors?

Bots are, in most cases, very well done but I have seen several instances of them staring at the ceiling and spinning while I was shooting them.

I have to mute voice communication for lobby, party, and match every time I start the technical test. Some settings are not saved. Music volume, while set to 3 will still play as if it was at 10 on some occasions on launch.

> Been trying for 3 hours to get into a game and everytime it finds me a server it tries to load me in but it takes me straight back to the menu, if anyone has any fixes or solutions let me know. Been a wack testing so far!!

Yeah I have been having the same issue since day 1 of the testing. Tried everyday for 1 hour but can’t get into a game. It kick me out to menu when loading the match.

Ryzen 9 5900x, rtx 2070 SUPER, averaging around 70-90 fps on all low 50-60 on high. Not sure if this is the expecting results but I thought it seemed a bit low.
