Infinite Tech Preview – PC Specific Feedback

Im running: Ryzen 7 3700x with a RTX 3080TI and memory 32 GB RAM…my display is 2560x1440 144hz

with that said my frame rate was set to no lower then 144 and highest to 240 and my graphics in game were set to the ultra everything but my fps started at somewhere around 80 and sat there most of the time… however my render latency was 19.3 ms and my cpu utilization was 45% same with Gpu. it looks good i understand your BOTS but i REALLY WANT SOME PVP so please tell the community what we need to gather for you to open the PVP

I have downloaded the Tech Preview and I am able to launch the game. When I hit play I am brought to the black screen with the three dots. But I am unable to get into a game because when I am on that black screen I am booted to the home screen. I know this is a bug but on the Halo Support site it says this is a rare occurrence for me it has happened every single time I try to join a game and I’ve tried for hours. I go to the Halo Support site to submit my ticket about my problem to help them but whenever I submit (which is three times now) an “agent” tells me to submit my ticket under the Tech Preview so it can go to the right people. Only problem is that I can’t find the submit a ticket page for the Tech Preview and no “Agent” will help me. My friends were also invited to the Tech Preview and the same thing happens to them to. They get to the black loading screen with three dots waiting to get into a game and then they are booted to the home screen every single time just like me. Don’t know if it helps at all but me and my friends all live on the East Coast. Is this happening to anyone else on the East Coast? How can I submit my ticket under the tech preview? Can anyone help me with this? Hope this reaches someone who can help.

So I’ve noticed that the audio issue only happens to me when I joint a game that’s already started. Doesn’t happen every time but it only happens when I’m filling in, anyone else noticed this?

CHAT BOX.
Hello if your going to have chat box in the PC version you should do it like Battlefield. Have the ability to “Hide”, When Active" and “Show”. Also have it so it shows at least 3 messages show new on the bottom. Right now I have no idea if a new message is on the screen.

MINI MAP.
In my opinion the mini map should either be movable or at the top left. Having it on the bottom left feels like weird and out of place.

SCORESCREEN.
On the scorescreen you should have the ability to use cursor, Tab then right click mouse, to either mute, report and other things for other players.

> Anyone else simply not able to get into a match right now? I’ve had issues before but right now it’s been about 30 minutes of it loading to a match only to send me back to the main menu or crash entirely. I know it’s an issue but I’ve usually been able to join at least 1 match by now.

This is happening to me but on a much greater scale. I haven’t been able to get into a single game yet and Halo Support won’t take my ticket. So I am kinda lost as to what to do or who to message.

As of July 31 pre 7gb patch and 60mb hotfix.
Consistent crashes on start up after initial install. The following are the trouble shooting attempts and success.
Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB GPU - Geforce Version 466.27
Anti Virus - Windows Defender
VPN - NordVPN - closed/program ended via task manager prior to trouble shooting.

After first install:

Game will load up to a black screen, have 3 dots in the top left, then close. No music is heard. No title screen or image is shown. Game crashes with no reports
or information.
-Potential work arounds:
–Restarting Steam - bug continues
–Validating in steam - bug continues
–Validate/restart - bug continues.
–Restart PC - bug continues, Task Manager now shows ‘game release’ seperate from steam rather than being a sub program under steam.
*during testing it was discovered that the steam overlap still works.
–Nvidia drivers updated to version 471.41 - fail.
– update windows 10 and restart - fail
*noticed windows defender CPU usage spikes on launch.
–Disabling windows defender - fail
–Set game release to run as admin - fail
–Change compatability of GPU to low - fail

–Change install from External HDD to internal SSD / Main Drive - Success

Upon successful launch:

Weapon range works perfectly, tested first challenge for most UNSC weapons. Recoil feels low on mouse and keyboard for some weapons [BR75 and Assault Rifle]

In the body+AI customization, when altering prostheses, player must select none to reset the augments then select a new augment. Going from Augment Transhumeral
to Trans-radial leaves the appearance as trans-humeral [does not change appearance].
Unknown if bug or missing cosmetic but changing the hand from none to ‘hand’ changes nothing. [when altering left or right arm in prostheses].

in Spartan vs bots, a semi cloaked invulnerable spartan is found near a regular spawn point. Invincible spartan same as player colour, potentially a Player’s failure to load?

Grenade throws feel short/limp throwing arm.Aiming directly forward results in the grenade going 3-4 meters which feels like an underhand pass rather than a throw.

After buying the season pass the button continues to say buy the season pass, but does nothing.
Reward screen for battle pass unlock shows blank squares [Aviator and Challenge swap].

Game is running nice after update not janky like it was.

Aiming on MnK feels horrendous, please look into it if there is a chance. Anyone else feel the same?

Ok so I have a found a very annoying new bug in halo infinite that I don’t know has been found yet. so anyway IF YOU ACTIVATE AN XP BOOSTER IT CRASHES YOUR GAME UNTILL THE BOOSTER RUNS OUT OF TIME.

Absolutely loving the preview… however aside from the general UI bugs and things like that, aiming on mouse and keyboard feels… odd? Doesn’t feel consistent, might be due to the fact that the game itself doesn’t feel smooth. G-sync probably isn’t working. I have to lower render resolution and all settings to low just to get MOSTLY over 60 fps which is disappointing (and even then it doesn’t ever feel “smooth” like my other games at 60 fps do), though I fully understand this is an early build. I am just begging for this to be much more optimized as we go along. Processor is Ryzen 5 3600, 32 GB RAM, 1660 Super graphics card, Windows 10.

i feel you. You gotta run on low settings too aye?

First, I’d like to say this has been a great preview so far. I have many criticisms that I believe prevents this game from being great.

First, I will start with some bugs.

  • The controller sensitivity is not saved when playing on PC - Screen tearing happens a lot - FPS is low even with higher end graphics cards - The game sounds are low but the voice sound is high - You can’t mute other players - When using controller on PC it sometimes still only gives you the keyboard options/hints - Sliding camera goes through player modelGame mechanics

  • The items you find in the map feel weak. Weaker than your basic load out which is terrible. If I have to fight for a field weapon it should be better than base weapons but I’ve only experienced weak weapons that get me killed more easily. - The equipment deploy time is way too long. I want to hold onto my shield until I need it however, it take like 3 seconds to deploy which means it is almost useless. I am dead before I can deploy it. - Aim assist in controller mode on PC is a must. I noticed it was missing and it makes the PC experience less enjoyable when using a controller - Sliding is slower than running and most of the time I see no reason to do it unless I want to get killed - The AI voice sucks, bring back Cortana - It is hard to tell who is an enemy and who is on your team sometimes because of the color of their armor. - It is hard to tell when you have broken someone’s shields. - The maps in the preview are too small. Reminder of the Halo 3 days where there was a good mix of large and medium sized maps. - Getting shot while aiming with some weapons makes takes you away from your aim. This makes some guns like the br and sniper harder and less fun to use which should not be the case. - Enemies need to show up on radar when walking.

Yup! I know 1660 Super isn’t a top of the line GPU but it runs every other game so far with ease, and with Infinite being able to run on OG Xbox One I would expect pretty strong results from this graphics card. However I’m not panicking too hard yet, again I know PC optimization is something that will probably ramp up as we get closer to launch! Just a concern, for sure.

yeah i think so too just wondering how they are going to optimise the xbox one. It makes me laugh coz I played on it and it is potato LMAOO

The hotfix has fixed my stuttering, played for the 2 hours and only had a few. 1080TI, I7-7700k, 32 GB, ssd, V-sync off in game forced on in nvidia. With a mix of high, medium and low settings I get 65-72 fps while being capped at 74. Uncapped goes up to 100 fps but jumps around a lot.

  • High - texture, geometry, effects, animation and terrain - Medium - AA, texture filtering, dynamic lighting, fog, decorator and decals - Low - ambient occlusion, reflections, depth of field, shadow, sky, dynamic wind, simulation, flocks and shaderalso have async compute on.

steam updated the game with a 60 mb.

Here’s a list of suggestions I’ve gathered from playing the past few days regarding gameplay and interaction with multiple elements. I’m playing on PC with a controller.

  • Current weapon reload sounds are a bit quiet, some sounds are almost non existent. Mag reloading sounds and charging handle sounds are very soft. Could use a bit more chunk/ weight to them. For example the VK 78 Commando has very light, unrealistic reload noises compared to its very heavy firing sound. - Red and blue outlines for teammates and enemy’s is distracting and hides the unique armor detail that the dev team has worked hard creating. Please offer a toggle for enemy and teammate outlines to be toggled off. - Teammate spartan outlines showing through walls and terrain is a bit distracting, please offer a toggle option for on/off - Blue dots above friendly teammates are not noticeable enough. An option to replace the dot with a players emblem/ tag with an arrow would be appreciated. - Reticle bloom and hit markers are a bit distracting, please offer an option to toggle both on/off - Medals and text shown on the left of the reticule take up too much of the screen. A reposition to the bottom left above radar or an option to reposition would be appreciated. - Player vs Player red/blue text above the radar feels out of place. An option to change colors, edit opacity or set colors to white/ grey would be appreciated. - Radar feels a bit under scaled. A re-scale or option to adjust radar size would be great. - Weapon/ grenade/ equipment counter in lower right feels out of place. An option to reposition to the top right would be appreciated. - UNSC/ human grenade trails feel out of place. Instead of a line, a smoke trail would be much more appealing and set them apart from plasma grenades. - Brute spike grenade trails feel out of place. Instead of a line, a smoke trail would be much more appealing and set them apart from other grenades. - Enemy and friendly shields being red/ blue feels out of place. An option to select friendly and enemy shield colors that are not tied to outlines/ team colors would be appreciated. White/ light blue would be perfect. - The time between shots on the Battle Rifle feels too slow/ long. The shot time between each bullet could be closer together giving a more traditional Battle rifle feel. - The base walking speed is a bit too fast and the sprint speed isn’t much faster than walking. Lowering the base walking speed would help a bit with the overall feel of the game. - UI is cumbersome and the design isn’t very intuitive. Horizontal scrolling for armor coating, weapons etc. is unnecessarily tedious. Having these as vertical selections would make the menus feel a bit less repetitive and allow for you to have more of the options visible instead of side scrolling one by one. - Commando could have slightly less recoil along with a slightly increased reticule size. - Bullet magnetism/ aim assist feels a bit weak. could be adjusted slightly for a better controller feel. - Radar range could use a boost to range as it feels a tad too short.
