- I9-9900k - MSI VENTUS 2060 - 32 gb DDR4 Ram
I downloaded the Tech Preview on Thursday night. The game ran pretty well the first night, but all day yesterday and most of the day today, the game has been stuttering so badly it’s difficult to play and it honestly makes me sick. Changing settings from low to ultra don’t seem to actually do anything to help with performance.
Infinite does not seem to utilize my gpu at all either. Looking at an overlay, my gpu was barely getting 40% utilization. I did manage to mostly fix the stuttering and low fps by overclocking my cpu to 5ghz, so if anyone has a cpu that can be overclocked, please try this option instead of messing with the in game settings.
The voice audio cuts in and out.
Despite the performance issues, the game is incredibly fun. The guns sound snappy and they are satisfying to use. Playing against bots is also more fun than I thought it would be. I hope the bots stay in the game because it’s nice to learn the maps in a low pressure environment.
Bot Slayer
- So far, “Marine” and “ODST” bots feel fine to fight against, their ability to replicate several actions that most players use is quite effective. I’d Assume “Spartan” bots can utilise the game’s movement system to it’s fullest to make for a challenging opponent.
Weapon Drills
- All the weapon drills except for the plasma pistol and bulldog feel good to play with. The bots that move all the way to the back of the range feel a bit frustrating to kill as they move well beyond each weapons effective range, which doesn’t quite give a good demonstration into how the weapon functions.
UI / Battle Pass / Customization
- For the most part, the menu UI is a significant improvement coming from H5 and MCC. While easier to navigate, there are some difficulties in trying to find where you are in the menu as all the only distinction between buttons is their name, so perhaps some color-coded buttons can be helpful (i.e. a green colored “Play” button).
- I’m sure this has already been reported, but there are cases where the images of battle-pass loot don’t show up.
-Items that have two components to them (e.g. shoulder pads) shouldn’t be separated by tiers, as it feels very unnecessary to break them up like that.
- When in the Armor Hall, players should see a more distinct indication for armor attachments, as it isn’t particularly easy to find the attachments tab at the moment.
Other
- The current optimization for PC is unfortunately quite terrible at the moment. Even with the CPU focused optimization, the game still fails to perform well on 6-core and 8-core systems (I pray for those with 4-cores). The game desperately needs better optimization for GPUs, if it still intends to launch in the holiday season this year.
- The loading screens could use better visuals as the “Black void with 3 dots at the top” isn’t particularly the nicest thing to look at while loading into a game.
- In the game start/end screen, there are a few visual errors to note; Lighting on Spartans can occasionally be extremely bright and flicker, player cards can sometimes flicker to a single color (e.g. completely green or purple), players in both start and end screens can be looking in completely different directions to the rest of their team & sometimes the entire post game screen is skipped entirely and goes completely black.
- Slide does not feel very good to use at the moment, as the only effective way to use it is when going down declines for a speed boost, compared to other games such as Titanfall 2 or Apex Legends where even when sliding on a flat surface, you can gain a slight speed boost.
- While I understand that sprint and slide have been significantly toned down from Reach, 4 and 5 to cater for the fans of the original trilogy’s movement, the movement bonus you gain from them is so underwhelming they may as well not be in the game at all. Even the slightest boost from 5-10% faster speed while performing these actions would be enough to make them feel actually useful in the sandbox.
- Options to customize where things are on the HUD would be a very welcome addition (e.g. where medals/points appear, where your weapons are, etc.) alongside the ability to change how your HUD looks in general.
- All the guns feel extremely satisfying to use, though I do wish there were damage numbers alongside hit markers to better convey damage dealt. This has worked very well for Splitgate, which is very much a game that draws its influence from Halo, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work in Halo either.
- Disabling the “Spartan Chatter” in options doesn’t seem to do anything as the funny and quirky Spartans still refuse to shut up in-game.
- Map design is top notch here, excellent work, 343.
- The Gravity Hammer needs it’s gravity back ~ Meaning, we need funny ragdolls back
Overall as the game currently stands, I’m very happy with how the game plays with a bit of give or take, on the other hand, how it performs is very much a disappointment. Given that the multiplayer is meant to be a free-to-play experience set to release on Steam aside XBOX, I don’t think many PC players will stick to the game if they can’t run it well. I’m confident that 343 will be able to deliver an excellent product on release and I wish them nothing but good luck from here on out.

> you are not the only one man. Like personally I’ve had visual artifacts and hiccups on my system too, whereas on apex I’m able to run everything on high settings and that is a heavier game than halo. This means that the game is still in development and is fairly normal. Another thing is the heavy aim, which you will notice if you compare the cursor movement from halo: the master chief collection to the latest build of halo infinite.
I mean the stutter I get is insane, lag all over the place , like if I had an rtx 970 ahahaha
Please have better mixing of the audio, footsteps are not that audible, the reloads on some weapons are really low, the voices are really loud compared to everything else, and the most important; The sound of being shot is REALLY low. Although I will say the distant gunshots sound really nice and accurate.

dude it isn’t just the performance side of things too. The animations of the clamber is not that great too and there are issues with heavy aim that you would experience if you were to compare it to halo mcc. I don’t know if you have experienced this, but I have.

bro i feel bad for you man. It worries me since 343 has only a couple of months before they release the game and right now they are not very far on optimising the game. It runs like the game is running on a potato pc HAHAH
Pretty regularly having an issue with controller on PC. Sometimes a direction on the analog simply doesn’t register. Can’t move forward, but can move back and strafe left and right. Or sometimes can move forward and back but cannot strafe in one direction.
Edit: Happening every game now, sometimes it’ll work for a second or two. Tried disconnecting/reconnecting controller. Not sure what the issue is but my controller works just fine with every other game I’ve played and was working fine in this flight until Friday evening.
I’m loving the game from what I have played of it so far, but there have been a few minor issues I have:
- The inability to turn anti-aliasing off completely, making the game’s visuals blurry - The screen shake when reloading the skewer is a bit too much. - Not being able to change our crosshair color is a bit annoying. - The plasma pistol’s firing sounds are a bit weak outside of overcharging it.
3600x and rtx2070 super, utilization around 40% for both…, all low settings with force min framerate setting to 120, still only getting 70-80 fps but constant frame stuttering and input delay. Nearly unplayable right now.
I pray and hope the new builds have addressed this and optimized performance

this is exactly whats happening to me
First off my PC specs:

RAM: 32G 3200mhz g.skill
Cooling: custom water
Latest drivers and windows 10 version installed

I noticed the load times are a bit long. I am running this off a sata III SSD but the load times should not be that long. I don’t know if this is part of the final build or if the beta build is still a bit cut down so much some features are not there but it really takes a long time. MCC loads a ton faster.
-
I know it is already known but the fact that every time I leave the game then come back to it all my settings have changed from my mouse sensitivity to my keybinds and same for graphic settings and controller settings. This really does not make me want to flight this game… Also the bots are lame…
-
There is the weird flashing the UI does when you are in a match and adjusting your settings because you forget the afore mentioned settings get reset every time you start playing so you spend the first minute of the match putting all your settings back to the way they were…
-
The armor customizer doesn’t always show the change. I have seen where the demo for the colors do not change after equipped and same for the prosthetics.
-
The stats for the firing range do not save and the stars do not fill in after completion. Every time you exit the game and come back on the stats reset to 0 points.
-
I am not sure if it is intentional or not but the enemy does not have the red glow at distances. I don’t know if the graphics are just lagging or if that is an intentional mechanic but it is really annoying not knowing if it is an enemy or friendly before opening fire. That has gotten me killed by the bots numerous times. It’s sort of funny that all the other games had a simple concept of red and blue and you can see that from very far away. The 30th the armor changed colors but today the 31st now the armor is your custom color when in matchmaking. I am not sure what is going on with all that. That whole system is a bit weird.
That is what I have noticed so far. This flight is probably the worst one I have been part of. I couldn’t even get my code the first day because the website was overrun. My brother didn’t even get the steam code only the xbox update though he is opted in on the PC insider which makes me not want to play the flight by myself…
The game looks pretty good. It feels pretty good. I wouldn’t say it looks next gen, but I would say the frame rate bump on PC sure is nice. I can’t tell how the bullet magnetism or cursor magnetism is working on controller, honestly I haven’t been playing it that much because I have no one to play with, the bots are boring, and having to reset all my settings every time I log in is a total turn off…
I just want this to be good 343. Please don’t Cyberpunk 2077 me.
hi i couldn’t play halo infinite because of the following problem: microsoft basic render driver was chosen as graphics device. I do not understand why if I do not have amd and apart I have my updated graphics and directx 12, if you could guide me it would be very helpful, thank you.
Everytime I bind my Push to talk key my game crashes.
So I could be an odd case but I was getting really inconsistent frame rates and stuttering. I thought it was my pc being unable to keep up so I dropped video setting to medium. When that didn’t work, dropped to low.
However, I noticed that there seemed to just be a lot of really odd things going on, so I decided to just crank my settings as high as they can go. And the game runs perfectly. The in-game FPS tracker is wrong I think, it’s clocking me at 30 frames, but from experience with other games I have to be getting AT LEAST 90-100 frames. I cranked my max/min frame rates to 300 and all setting to Ultra, and it runs WAY better than it did on low settings. I don’t get it.
btw I have RTX 2060 and I7 w/ 16gb ram
I think the motion tracker should indicate whether or not an enemy is above or below you like it did in past halo games. Oftentimes I will be waiting for an enemy to run around a corner only to realize they are above or below me on a different path.
When game starts up ‘move backward’ is unbound, with ‘s’ being bound to ‘pan down’. When I try to update ‘move backward’ the game crashes. Also key bindings and fov don’t alway stay saved when I exit the game and restart.
Often when trying to alter my settings in my menu, they will randomize to alternative non-desired settings. For example, If I am trying to change my sensitivity to 1.3, it will change it to 2 or 2.9.
Was going to upgrade my Pc (aiming for a 5950x and a RX 6800XT to get good performance on Metal Gear Online 2 on Rpcs3) but when I see the performance people are getting with that Halo preview on both YouTube and here (barely 40-45 Fps with some pretty heavy hardware) I simply don’t know what to do…
I ll have to make a choice:
buying an xbox SX to be able to play Halo Infinite with a decent framerate…or buying an expensive (due to shortages) Pc to play everything else I want to play in the best conditions… what a dilemna really… (can’t afford both unfortunately… I have a son…)
(I dont expect Halo Infinite on Pc to improve regarding performance issues… Halo 5 multiplayer is still unplayable on my i7 4790k and r9 290x despite being a beast of a Pc back in 2014 when Halo 5 was available…)
Please 343 make me wrong…
Got an invite for xbox flight when i got invited to pc, any way to change this?
Unable to join a Slayer match, sometimes it lets me in for Live Fire Slayer match after 15 tries but I have been unable to join a single round for Recharge
Tried reinstalling twice and cleared credentials but still boots me back to the main menu after the loading screen.
