Running a 3090 with a 3900X on a 4k, 144hz monitor.
With Ultra settings I think I’ve seen my frames go up to about 65… Will keep testing though as I havent played around with setting yet.
Hello,
During the first night of the Flight i was able to run the game in 4k at 60-90 FPS, however yesterday during my playtests I had to switch everything to medium and 1440 to get even decent framerate.
My Current hardware is as follows:
Intel i9 9900k
EVGA 3090 FTW 3
64 gb DDR4 3600 Ram
These factors I think are the most important for determining the FPS so I wanted to make you aware of this.
Ryzen 9 3900x, Gigabyte RTX 3070 Aorus Master GPU, 32gb 3600mhz RAM, ASRock Extreme4 Wifi ax motherboard, game is installed to an m.2 NVME SSD.
Absolutely horrendous performance on the most recent update compared to the previous build. Had a locked 90fps before, now it’s a stuttering mess and is nearing the point of unplayable.
Also, field of view doesn’t save and needs to be changed every time the game is launched. Audio now also no longer saves, shows the correct values in the settings but actually plays at full volume until adjusted again.
Not sure what happened, but something massively broke performance in this update.
Also noticing a lot of binds make the game crash, also controller settings never save. Pressing alt to switch grenades has crashed it too.
If you set your field of view at 120 °, and look at your feet, it is possible to see that only the lower part of the body is modeled.
settings seem to have a tendency to reset after crashes.
using sliding in-game causes crashes.
I want to keep testing today but i have work early tomorrow and the load times are killing me and with the constant crashes its making that all the more prominent
haven’t been able to get into a single multiplayer match for the 2 days the flight has been out. i don’t know if this is pc specific but i just want help
With the new update more stuttering and worst performance.

The performance is very bad, but i think its a pre-alpha version.
Controllers are still way more consistent than M&K
On m&k im getting overall 40% accuracy
controller 50%+ accuracy
After I updated the game I tried to run it on steam but every time I try the game kicks me back to my stream library. Is anyone else having similar issues?
After Update the game crashed 3 times in 30min. Before the update i got no crash in 3h testing. Anyone else reconised this?
I apologize for not putting everything in the specific threads but it was just easier for me to take notes like this. That being said, these are my initial and unedited reactions to just about anything in the game. I hope this can be helpful and will gladly answer questions when I can, although I’m just a fan of Halo and not in the industry in any way.
So far not sure how i feel about Halo Infinite (yes I understand this is the first time the game has been playable by the public) after about 4 hours of gameplay, all subjective (obviously) and ill update my notes if anything changes:
-TECH PREVIEW HAS MONETIZATION >:(
-Gunplay feels kinda sloppy (I could just be bad)
-Mouse magnetism is bad. PC does not need this to attract a casual audience
-Feels like theres delay between trigger pull and weapon fire for a lot of guns
-Overall game feels like a slower version of H5 (not the return to H3 that people seem to want you to believe)
-Sprint, Slide, Clamber, and ADS arent a big deal to me but dont feel necessary
-Hud doesnt feel useful, ex: hard to tell shield state in the middle of a fight
-Shield flair is obvious enough that it makes me question why there are hit markers
-Hard to tell when and how much damage youre taking
-Definitely not optimized (3080,5900x,1440p, getting <100fps on High settings)
-Sounds just arent quite right
– Shields are fine
– Guns are punchy but all sound the same, except power weapons
-There is WAY TO MUCH talking going on between the announcer, spartans and personal A.I, heavily takes away from the game for me
-Theres 1 track that ive heard that sounds “Halo”, the rest don’t feel like they fit
-Animations for using most weapons are unimpressive, boring and not satisfying (ie not a lot of visual feedback when using the AR)
-I dont like the intro animations, Titanfall did it right. This just feels like a waste of 30sec, just start the match…
-Graphics/Art Style look a bit off to me
-Colors seem very dull
-Armor looks bad (could just be the early stuff but the first helmet in Reach is one of my favorites, for example)
-Why change the color of the shields? Red team being red and Blue team being blue has been just fine for the last 20 years…
–ie no one asked for it and it makes target acquisition unnecessarily difficult
–if you want to see your custom color on your dead spartan then play FFA or Customs
As much as I have to criticize, I am having fun playing and its all from the heart. I really hope this game does amazing and thank you for the invite.
These are my friend’s opinions (sharing it because I don’t think he will), his favorite is Halo 3 and he’s much more critical:
-advanced movement is just dumbing down movement for casuals, grenade and brute shot jumps > hold A lol
-ADS is still in
-motion tracker doesn’t track motion anymore (only tracks sprint and gunfire)
-overwatch outlines
-constant voice lines, game can’t shut the f*** up
-looks like s*** artistically and graphically
-runs like s***
-battlepass
-MTXes
+on PC
Aiming feels weird for me on PC.
To describe it, it reminds me of a bad translation on my XIM4.
The game will not let me draw a perfect circle with my crosshair (using a gaming mouse). It feels like it’s trying to follow either X ↔ or Y
but never a combination of both.
Like classic aiming on Halo MCC.
I’ve tried playing with the sensitivity options to no avail.
So far have not been able to load into a single game of Multiplayer. Academy works just fine. I search for the match, find one, and load the map and mode before going to the black 3-dot loading screen, after about a minute or two it kicks me back to main menu. I don’t believe it is my connection or my specs. I am playing on low settings at the moment too, thinking that would help but no luck.
Specs: i7 10700K, RTX 2060, 32GB RAM, running in 2k from an SSD on low settings.
I have problems with framerate, I have the latest AMD driver but most of the time i play around 30 fps, sometimes 50fps. Ive turned down all visual settings to low and disabled motion blur.
My PC specs:
CPU: R9 5900x
GPU: Radeon 6900XT
RAM: 32 gb
Playing at 1440p resolution
Keep getting PVP daily challenger and I am all out of swaps. Can’t progress because no XP earned just from playing. What the hell am I supposed to do? Just sit back and deal with not being able to progress? Why is challenges the only way to progress through the battlepass, I am all out of Weeklys already and don’t have any credits left.

Yeah its prealpha but its litterally in a unplayable state. its clearly not ready for the public at all in any capacity. and with a whole year delay and its still in this state? yikes. to even get 60+fps you have to turn the settings to low even on high end systems. and then have to do the trick where you set your min AND max fps to your refresh rate to get a bump in frames. im running a 3070 and ryzen 7 3800x. i should be able to max this game out easy at 1440 with high fps. it shouldnt be chugging and stuttering and i shouldnt have to turn it to soupy soup textures to get 60. and even above 60 like you said. today after patch theres major stuttering issues. even at higher frames.
My overall experience so far:
Home Screen:
When you first load into the game, if you move your mouse around it moves the screen too. This definitely shouldn’t be a thing as it causes dizziness and should be static (objects/spartans moving within a static background is ok, the whole screen moving isn’t). Even though I set my resolution to 100% on a 1920x1080 monitor, everything was extremely blurry/choppy. I realized I could change this by setting resolution target to 200%. This issue wasn’t as pronounced on my 2560x1440 monitor but bumping the resolution made the game look the way it was probably intended.
UI:
It can definitely use some improvements. For example, I did not know I can swap out challenges until I read up on some forums. XP boosts are a bit difficult to find. I appreciate the ability to customize a lot of settings so that is a plus for me but know it can be difficult for others. It might be worth hiding some elements behind an ‘advanced’ dropdown. An auto calibration button would also be wonderful as many people don’t like messing with the settings. Overall, it feels new and fresh and I think most complaints will go away once everyone understands the new layout.
Bots:
The bots on the first day are terribly easy to kill. The bots tend to go to the same location every start so randomizing that would be much more helpful. I do like that they double team when together. The addition of the ODST bots seems like there was an improvement in their gameplay (unless I am just trash at playing today). I do like the ramp up and am seeing improvements in their gameplay and general outcome of games. They still are getting obliterated though. I believe it was mentioned they will get more difficult so this could change by the end of the flight.
Gameplay:
The game feels great for me. The weapons see to have a nice feel to them and feel balanced although there could probably be some slight adjustments to the range on some weapons. TTK is good and don’t really feel like I am dying too fast or slow. Sprinting feels good and people that think there shouldn’t be I feel are still stuck on Halo 3 days. Games are getting quicker and sprinting gives the ability to escape but not over powered where everyone is running from death successfully. This adds different aspects to the game that make it interesting. The biggest complaint I have is visual indicators when shooting at enemies. It’s hard to tell when I am really hitting them and roughly when I think they will die. This causes me to hesitate to push when I could have a bot with 1 shot health. I also think when receiving damage it is a bit odd. I find myself looking at my health bar instead of knowing off instinct. The first few shots into my Spartan shouldn’t feel the same as the last few, it takes away from the flow of combat. First few shots should feel like I can absorb those hits and as my shields deplete, the indicators should become more pronounced. In other Halo games, there was not a single question whether you broke a shield or if you need to shoot another burst to then break the shield. This is huge in my opinion and is a make or break for combat scenarios.
Optimization:
I won’t really complain much here. I understand it’s a flight and the team is testing mechanics over everything else. I will mention my struggles in case it does matter. My GPU is a 3090 and generally have a pretty solid PC ( I assume you have access to my setup). It struggles with FPS and I can feel the heat coming from my PC on how hard it is working. It’s acceptable for now but Halo is not built with maps the size of a battle royal map. I should be hitting max fps with very little issues if any. If you want this to be as competitive as games like Valorant, it needs to be optimized so mediocre systems can hit their monitors native refresh rate. My 1920x1080 is 240fps and I get around 140 on there and my 2560x1440 monitor gets roughly 100fps. This is going to be something that will really urk players if it is not optimized by release (or even beta if you want to avoid the complainers from being too loud). I also find that it feels like I am having some sort of choppiness/lag during the game and not as fluid as I am used to. This could be because of the flight but is definitely a concern and can make playing less enjoyable. The 2nd map released seems to have this more than the 1st map but the 2nd map gets better FPS than the first map. I will also add that I play everything on ‘high’ settings but this should not really be a factor with the power of this GPU.
Customization:
There is a lot here and the more there is, the happier everyone is. I think the way to apply colors is a bit confusing and the UI here can probably be simplified a bit or made a bit clearer. Maybe just offer the colors within each body part instead of having its own category.
Final words on this:
This is Halo. This is what I grew up playing and you could probably release hot garbage and I will love it. In all honesty the game is going in a good direction. It has a modern feel and while some players are trying to chase nostalgia, I understand the feelings I had when I was young are not going to be the same as now. This game is fun! The pace is not fast where it feels like Apex or COD but it’s not Battlefield slow either. It’s a good mix of both. I think the sacrifices you have to make to speed up (grapple, sprinting) are a solid balance and better than that of Halo 5. This game is very solid so far and is meeting all the high expectation that were set. I am excited for the next few days and look forward to whatever else is going to be offered during this flight! Thank you to everyone on the entire 343 team!
Stuttering issues after the latest patch. This has been reported several times in this thread, in other threads on the same forum, Twitter and 10+ threads on the subreddit. Please acknowledge this soon.
My System specifications are as follows:

BaseBoard Manufacturer : ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
BaseBoard Product: PRIME B450M-A
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) : 32.0 GB

Feedback for PC after the first day of playing:
- PC optimization could potentially use some work: my rig could not handle the game on ultra at a framerate above 60 fps. While perhaps an unreasonable target as my PC’s specifications are not as high as an xbox series X, other games with expansive environments and high speed multiplayer at a similar or higher visual fidelity run better on the highest settings.
- UI does not seem well optimized for keyboard and mouse, for example: whenever I click on a weapon drill, it goes into the drill selection menu instead of simply selecting the weapon to view its description while browsing the menu via keyboard commands or gamepad. - Difficult to swap out armour pieces/customization because it’s not clear whether or not a new item is selected or equipped. Example: there’s a checkmark but when I tab out of the menu to equip the armour piece, the change is not actually reflected on my spartan.
- To solve this I initially resorted to mashing through the menus and double clicking until it worked. - I later found that you need to press f to equip a given cosmetic. While not bad in and of itself, making that more clear or improving the mouse functionality on PC would be great for the full release or the next test flight should UI adjustments be included.
- Weapon drill difficulties were a BIT too easy, at least the ones available during a test flight. I think some additional difficulties and challenges would be very welcome to go further in mastering each gun. However, I found that it was useful for learning how each weapon functions on a basic level so they did their job there and did not detract from the fun of practicing with the weapon. - Several graphics options seemed vague and I was not exactly sure what flipping one on and off would entail, for example:
- In the options menu, “simulation quality” is a setting with a vague tooltip, something more descriptive would be nice there. - Not sure what async compute even is as I have never seen that setting in any other PC game I have played. - Infinite loading screen when loading into a match on occasion. - Source engine missing texture pink player tags appear for both me and the AI bots. For me it happens occasionally however that only appears for the bots which initially lead me to believe it was intentional.
