Infinite Tech Preview – PC Specific Feedback

Hello! I’ve been enjoying the flight testing for Halo Infinite Multiplayer but the only thing that hasn’t been working for me is the customization tab and was wondering if there’s a way to fix the issue. Thank you

My controller preferences are not kept if I leave the game and come back in. This is the only repeatable problem that I have found. Obviously there are some random connectivity/framerate issues, but as of writing this post, I played most of the evening without issue. The bots are pretty weak right now, but I’m sure their difficulty is going to be scalable? I love that the AR is actually usable and not just a weapon you drop immediately. Overall balance of weapons seems good. Not unimpressed with the menu/backdrop tunes, just sound pretty stock, not very Halo-like. Maybe this is still a work in progress? Looking forward to some PVP before this is over!

Crashes on ALT grendae swap

When I try to rebind more than 4-5 keybinds, it stops accepting keypresses for more rebinds. It’ll open up the “Press a new keybind” window, but when I press any button it doesn’t change, or recognize a new button has been pressed.

For some reason, the scoreboard got unbound for me, and I cannot rebind that without my game crashing.

I have an amd ryzen 5700XT
I have tried two different monitors, one 1080 and one 4k and am encountering an odd issue with a rainbow flickering effect.
additionally I had some (albeit expected) issues with the 4k optimization. I was getting sub 30 fps on all preset levels of graphics(vsync both on and off).

Been playing Halo casually and competitively since Halo 2 and here is a list of thoughts so far.

Live Fire is a great map. I like the mini three lane asymmetrical design.
Recharge is terrible. It reminds me of a bad combination of Adrift from H4 and Condemned from Reach. Corridor maps don’t work with Halo’s gameplay imo.
Most guns need more aim assist. The pistol had a 12 round clip, but without aim assist, you’re lucky to get 1 kill with those 12 rounds. Compared to the AR, there’s no reason to switch to it. The BR has enough aim assist imo, but it clings way too hard when trying to aim from one enemy to another.
The VK78 Commando is a terribly weak gun for a 20 round mag.
Movement speed makes sprint redundant. I recommend removing it all together and maybe adding a speed boost equipment.
Power weapons are way to weak compared to the AR and BR, probably due to the aim assist issue.
The equipment themselves are boring/weak. I hope the team is considering adding in more outrageous OP meme generating equipment down the line. I need a reason to possibly grab that instead of the sniper.

Other than that and optimization issues (I’ve already sent a report), it’s way better than I thought it would be. Remove sprint, tweak aim assist across the board, and we got ourselves a game that could bring us back to the days of 1,000,000+ people online.

-Crashes on rebinding Push to Talk *(any key)
-Crashes on rebinding Show Scoreboard *(any key)
-Audio Resets to default when pressing ‘Start’ in the main menu (Gets loud but stays same setting in options, moving slider changes back to prev audio setting)
-Setting menu tabs turn into greyboxes
-Add a binding to Primary/Secondary (Weapon 1,2) i.e Primary to Key 1[!] and secondary to Key 2[@] (cause as far as we know Next/Prev swapping in archaic and not really good/consistent)
-Add option to remove mappings entireley like “Hold ESC to clear binding” or something

I’ve got a 3080, and 5900x, and the performance is terrible. Kind of embarrassing really.

I’ve noticed Sometimes, particularly when performing a maneuver such as clambering, when players die, their bodies do not ragdoll and just freeze in their animation.

The frag grenade explosions could look way cooler. They just don’t seem intimating for how powerful they are.

msi 2080 getting about 75 frames (its jittering at 75 drops to about 60 when stressed) on medium settings 1440P

I tried a controller out and the controller kept timing out (Xbox Elite series 2 via Bluetooth) with a noticeable game freeze where I had to switch back to mouse and keyboard for 30 seconds, then I could use the controller again for a couple minutes before its happened again.

CPU and GPU utilization only reaches 50-60% This and no exclusive fullscreen is destroying FPS. So much performance left on the table.

10 minutes to find a game… unable to join, not enough players (really? they are bots!) to join the game.

Second try… another 10 minutes… joining game… and back to main menu.

2 hours ingame and cannot join a single game yet. Very anxious looking forward to buy your game.

The ragdoll physics seem terrible compared to Halo 5 in in that regard it’s almost making the game feel very dated to Halo 5 in comparison.

If I shoot someone dead with an Assault Rifle I expect them to just kinda go limp and fall backwards??

But instead of this we get the same animation every single time and it was an animation that was used way back in Halo 4. You couldn’t have even bothered to make new death animations?

Why not just have physics based deaths like in Halo 5? It’s so much more realistic.

I don’t want to watch a Spartan do that little flappy arm dance animation they do before dropping to the ground EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Honestly, I can’t stress this enough… getting rid of death animations is how you stop a shooting game from feeling repetitive.
It makes no sense for you guys to have gone backwards from Halo 5 on this. It was perfect in Halo 5… why ruin it?

Infinite is off to a decent start, but there a few things that I wanted to report and suggest

• Half the time, I get no audio queues that I’m being shot at or that a grenade was thrown. Please fix this!
• Every time I try to rebind push to talk, my game crashes. Now, there’s no button bound to PTT, so my voice chat is straight up broken. Fix that too.
• Add assist count as kill! It’s frustrating to have almost killed an enemy, then some random guy on your team comes and cleans up the kill.
• Framerate is low despite being on good hardware and having the minimum FPS set to 60.

Controller on pc is definitely gonna need a bit of aim assist. Performance is a problem and the battle pass system will be a hit although I’m not sure if xp through only challenges is a test thing or if that’s how it’ll be in the main game. if it is I think that should be rethought of. Luv ya 343 you guys are great

Performance is not as expected.

I’m running the game on a: nvidia RTX 3080, intel i7-10700, 16gb of ram, and the game is downloaded on an NVME (ALIENWARE AURORA R12)
At 4K on Ultra setting I’m getting sub 60 fps with frequent major fps stutters, and long loading screens. (Xbox 360 Skyrim long) At 55% resolution, I’m getting above 100 fps, which is great btw, but I do believe with my build I should easily be able to run the game at a stable 4k 60fps. Just my general PC performance feedback, I don’t doubt that the full release will be more optimized than the tech preview.

msi mpeg Z590
I7 11700 @4.7
32g ram
Evga gtx 1080tisc no oc
All systems up to date Game runs well for me
cpu %30 +- 45c water cooled
gpu %70 +- 61c all graphic settings to low.
80 fps +-
The mouse feels a lot better today than yesterday. Maybe it
was one of the settings, yesterday it felt delayed like something
you might get from a controller. UI between matches is a bit difficult
to tell which type of game your selecting.
And when I try to check my stats in the insider /Waypoint it puts me on Halo five and does
not show any of my stats from Tech Infinite, preview games I’ve played.
I haven’t played Halo in over a decade so there aren’t any stats from the other games it’s showing me.

Thank you see yaz out thar tommorow

Adding a small QOL change to sprint on KBM would be very nice. The ability to stop mid sprint by pressing sprint key again would be amazing. Currently you have to either choose hold to sprint or stop holding W to cancel sprint.

PC Feedback:
Hope to see massive leaps in terms of optimization. Getting 60-70 on medium settings. It’s definitely more difficult to play @ less than 120 fps. I’m used to 120+ on Max setting in Destiny 2. GPU: Nvidia GTX1070ti CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X

Other than performance and bugs, the game looks, feels, and sounds great. Weapon balance feels like you hit the nail on the head 343.
