Firstly after playing the Infinite Tech Preview all weekend I can safely say I am genuinely excited and have high hopes for Halo Infinite. This is a small list of things I loved and what I think need adjusted.

Movement**.** I didn’t much care for they way Halo 5 played despite playing it a lot, maybe it was the booster or something else, it just didn’t feel right. However with Infinite everything seemed to blend so smoothly together. For example I had the grapple on Bazaar and immediately after a fight grappled up to a ledge, picked up the BR and proceeded to shoot a bot to deplete their shield, then used the grapple on it to pull myself in and get the melee kill. From all of that there wasn’t one point where the movement felt clunky or bad.

Equipment and power-ups. I’ve already mentioned the grappling hook but man is it fun. If there was a down point where no fighting was going on I would find myself just flying around the map until it ran out. The drop shield for how little I used it is decent. I like the small advantage it gives while also not needing much to break it, however I did find myself barely using it so I can’t say a great deal about it. Now we have the standard Overshield and Active Camo powerups. Nothing to say about these 2 that hasn’t been said over the years expect I enjoy that they let you walk around while being fully invisible again. I do love the fact that you can apply the power-up at any moment, so in the middle of a fight someone could just go around a corner then pop back out a second later with the Overshield and give you something to fear, or disappear entirely with the camo.

Weapons. I only really played with the Assault Rifle, Battle Rifle and pistol but I did get to use every weapons and honestly other than the Ravager full charge shot not working I didn’t have a problem with them. I’ll try and go over some of the weapons that I liked. The Needler I used a few times (died to it many) and i liked the speed of the needles and how good they tracked making it great at close range and easy to dodge further away. The Heatwave I loved, being able to change the projectile pattern and ricochet the projectiles of walls made it a blast to use. Trying to hit people round corners definitely got me killed more times that it helped but still so much fun. The sniper I used only once for a very good reason as when I picked it up proceeded to miss every shot I fired until I died. I had much more luck with the Skewer as I actually managed to actually get a kill with this even if I died shortly afterwards. The Pulse Carbine I thought was very balanced and loved the way it worked. Doing enough damage in one burst to pop someone’s shield but also very easy to dodge. The BR and Pistol being their usual self and just all round great. The Rocket Launcher is well… a Rocket Launcher, the only thing I would say about it is a but more splash damage but not sure if that would make it insanely OP or not. I just noticed at times I thought I would get a double kill for the second person to only lose shield.
Now the one weapon I do have a problem with surprisingly is the Assault Rifle. To me it’s damage is just slightly high, to where in both bot games and when they had PVP I outgunned and was outgunned in long range situations where it should never have won. One moment I remember because it heavily annoyed me was when I had half shield and broke a bots shield with the pistol from far away and they turned 180, sprayed and killed me. It blew my mind that the AR from quite far away was able to kill me so fast. There were also many times I treated the AR and piston combo exactly like the noob combo and it was just as effective. I feel that the AR should have a slight damage decrease so it’s not as easy to just spray and most likely win but that might just be me.

Maps. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed each map. Live Fire I loved and looking like a standard 3 lane setup played nothing like that thanks to the underground patch that had 4 entrances/exits. Surprisingly despite it being the 1st map released I never got tired of it. Recharge was probably my least favourite but only because I found myself not using parts of it unless spawning there, and getting confused over on the bridge side because of the 3 layers so kept dying in PVP thinking the player was below me only to get shot from the doorway to my side. Bazaar is by far my favourite, I love the way it looks, and loved the long range fights across the upper walkways. I think this map also has the best power-up and weapon spawn where they are easy to see but also can get cover quickly when picked up. I’m looking forward to seeing the bigger maps and how they will function especially when vehicles are introduced.

Extra. I don’t like the change to the radar where you don’t show up from normal movement. One of the things that made Halo for me was the way the radar worked and how you had to crouch around or move slowly to not reveal yourself, instead of what happens now where unless you are shooting or sprinting you can move freely without worry of being seen on the radar. I also really like the way aim assist is. I’m someone that despises aim assist (I play console to clarify) I have always hated it, however I really like the way it is where there is some but not a lot. Plus I would have loved to test the K&M on my console but the game only detected my keyboard and not the mouse.
Overall I am very pleased with the game so far and have high hopes for the future. Can’t wait to test out vehicles and bigger maps.
Now I shouldn’t have to say this but this is all my opinion and if people disagree can we please keep it civil and have a pleasant conversation.
