Pt.2 of Feedback by ALPHAorWALLE
Audio Design & Feedback:
Weapon Audio Feedback - The Weapon and Sound Design is amazing for this build and the entirety of Halo Infinite. Though I do have a concern with a glitch or bug that I’ve encountered a lot throughout the Tech Previews release and that being some weapons sounds not registering during matches against both Bots and Players alike. Sometimes I’ll fire and the weapon sound nor the fire that comes out of the weapon will be heard or shown. That’s all actually, everything else is good and fine in my opinion.
Gameplay:
Shooting & Reloading Weapons - The Gameplay from this Tech Preview feels nice, almost every weapon feels great to shoot and the audio feedback we get when reloading feels satisfying to hear, just like Halo 5’s but even better in both sound and even animation including to say that the melee and ragdoll physics are all just satisfying.
Feedback when landing shots - Landing shots sounds great but the feedback we get is even better. I think you, 343, outdid yourselves on this part. Similar to Halo 5’s sound feedback we get from landing headshots to shooting from the hip and even hearing our Spartans movement and body toward the maps in the game feel all the more satisfying to hear in this Tech Preview. All in all, this is amazing from anything I’ve ever seen or played since Halo 5.
Sprinting & Sliding - Though many might not like sprinting in Halo, I’d have to argue that this was a good edition to this build as it’s not at all unbalanced as it is in Halo 5 and balanced enough that everybody will be on equal ground in Halo Infinites launch. Though, that is not the case with Sliding in this game. Yes, it is a nice edition to have as it allows you to cover more ground, but it does have a bit of issues like the sliding cutting off mid slide or even just doing the animation and not sliding at all. I’ve encountered this a couple of times both in my Bot and PvP experience while partaking in this Flight. Everything else is good besides the Slides’ little glitch in my opinion.
Bots:
Difficulty and Challenge - I do love each difficulty we were able to experience during the duration of this Build and with what we got. The Marine Difficulty is not much of a Challenge, as expected and only there for the new players of the Halo franchise. The ODST difficulty is much more of a challenge when the Bots are both by themselves and in a group, similar to a casual or even competitive player in Halo which is a very nice and a bit scary addition to this build as it allows us to go against bots that match a players skill in the game or even beyond that. As for the Spartan difficulty, it feels more like a smaller upgrade to the ODST Bot difficulty, the only exception is that they’re more aggressive in their approach but the odd behavior about these Bots is that they jump alot and I mean alot likewise to their crouching too, it’s almost like they’re teabagging during combat or just crouching a lot once they’ve entered combat or see you, they do one or both of these actions alot actually and can’t ever seem to stop doing them unless killed or once the player is dead and they’re out of combat. Even together, the Spartan bots seem like a 50/50 challenge compared to the ODST Bots, they can sometimes be a challenge or act completely dull at times when grouped up or alone which is a bit funny as in one of my playthroughs, a Spartan Bot was jumping and trying to kill me but ended up jumping off the map instead. This isn’t a bad review for the Spartan Bots, it’s only just an odd review writing this because I’d never think that a Bot would crouch that much as if they’re teabagging and even have those behaviors either. It feels like I’m going up against ‘try-hards’ for the Spartan difficulty, though that may just be me. All in all, these Bots are amazing.
XP and Challenges:
XP from Matches or Challenges - I’ve had a couple issues regarding how XP is obtained for the BattlePass. For starters, the only way we were able to obtain XP is only through the BattlePass’s Challenges alone and not the Match itself. Even though the Challenges were similar to the objectives for any basic Match, it still is an issue as we should be able to obtain XP not from completing a Challenge but from just finishing a Win or Lost Match alone. I see this as an issue as my experience during this build was a bit confusing as I saw I was able to only get XP from just completing challenges alone. This should definitely be changed to where we gain XP just like in previous Halo Titles from both Win or Loss Matches and the Challenges add as additional if completed or not for both ranking up individually and as well as for the BattlePass.
Challenges not Returning - I do love how we’re able to swap our Challenges for a new Challenge incase we don’t want to or even feel like doing that particular challenge one or if we just want to find a better one for the Matches we’re going to pursue for either the day or week. The only problem that I’ve experienced with this is that when you ‘swap’ a challenge out for a new one, the one you discarded does not come back nor does it ever come back, it’s just lost in the mits of time and even reality for that matter. A fix that I’d suggest is to not have a system that deletes the challenge the player ‘swapped’ out instead, just to have it come back later or even after that challenge is done, not just delete it and say that all the challenges are complete when the ones we discarded are not.
OVERALL REVIEW:
- Overall, I’m grateful that me and a lot of others were able to test this amazing build, it’s fun and feels a little or alot like some of the previous OG Halo titles we’ve come to love and cherish, not to say with how they brought back that old halo feel with the design and aesthetic of the game from what we’ve seen already compared to previous games and books. I hope that more people are allowed to be a part of the next flight and the upcoming ones, as well as the Insiders who were part of this flight included, it’d be better to get more testers so that this game can be as close to polished as it is now. I’d love to provide more feedback from new content you, 343, will be sharing in the next Flights and seeing how all of the Insiders’ hard work and feedback pay off to bring back the franchise some of us have shared experience with from our childhood, teenage, and even adult lives. See you around fellow Spartans, let’s make this game an even ‘better’ one for the Old Halo Players and Future Halo Players alike.
