Infinite Tech Preview – Big Team Battle

Dropping vehicles in the center of the map and the fact that you rarely get anything but ghosts ruins vehicle play. The scale of combat actually feels SMALLER than old BTB because vehicles are just not as much of a factor. This also weirdly makes the map feel too big for 24 players. Vehicle handling is also really strange, especially the Warthog and Banshee.
On top of this AR starts in BTB has never been and never will be a good idea.

This probably isn’t going to be a popular take, but the more I’m playing BTB, the more I dislike it, particularly when solo queuing. There is little to no actual team play on CTF or slayer. Most of the time I feel like there is nothing I can do that actually matters to the team. You can’t get to your team mates without getting farmed by a camper. Most of the weapons are horribly ineffective. Player highlights mean you constantly take tick damage from people miles away. Most players just get farmed by a few god tier players every match.

Compared to old 8v8 BTB or Warzone, this feels like a directionless mess.

Yeah I’m wondering if 8v8 would be a major improvement, right now these spawn camping dominated little to no vehicle matches aren’t very fun. The more I play the less I like anything but slayer

WE NEED JEFF STEITZER’S ANNOUNCER VOICE IN BTB!

Physics feel too fast and it especially feels too fast for the vehicles. Halo 5 was my favorite speed and controls but this feels like halo 5 on drugs. The vehicles feel like they turn too fast, fall too fast, and everything else physics based. I notice that if you run off a very short ledge it feels like you immediately hit the ground as if you are forced onto the ground by more than gravity.

Not sure if anyone else has this issue, but me and my group of friends were unable to join, just said we timed out and wouldn’t find a BTB match

I have an Xbox One X. I was able to play fine today with bots but as soon as i tried to play with my friend with a series S my game would crash. I no longer can play the game becuase i have been banned. I also have not received a code for my PC to play on that. Please address both of these issues.

My game crashes when in the process of matchmaking.

And I get server disconnect issues too.

Also has anyone actually seen a Scorpion or Wraith drop yet?

I agree it feels like there is so much map and yet everyone is evenly spread across it doing their own thing, in a very futile way. the player highlights dont help, some people seem to gravitate toward a couple points and camp them the entire game. I was also getting farmed by the better players and in the chaos of no one cooperating, there was little i could do.

It did feel strangely small for such a big map.

I am definitely having fun when capturing all the points on the map but man do I not like capture the flag at all. Not to mention the battle rifle that needs a slight buff not to its firing speed but its damage output to the head from medium to long distances.

Other than these critiques I think Halo infinite is going in the right direction.

There’s a huge problem with fireteams currently. I made a fireteam with three of my friends, yet in BTB, half the team is on it lol. What’s the point of that? I want to quickly be able to tell where my fireteam is, not my fireteam + 3 other randos.

Please fix this 343. The fireteam colours should be limited to my fireteam only; not half my entire team lol.

Game play is really solid for BTB. I would recommend setting radar somewhere between 22-25m since it isn’t very useful at the moment. Also that lack of Jeff Steitzer is a massive issue as not having him call out medals make certain moments feel very hollow.

I saw a scorpion once, never saw a wraith.

My thoughts so far on BTB

Pros:
-Love the map. Great art and feel.
-Interesting and neat change of Strongholds to Total Control.
-The Skewer is nasty and I love it.
-I like the deep thunder/sound effect. Very immersive.

Cons:
-Something is off with the radar. I can be tracking a vehicle on it and suddenly there are multiple individual enemies on me that aren’t on the radar and it isn’t because of crouching.
-Assists still feel off. I can work 2-3 shots into an enemy and a teammate kills them and I get no points for an assist.
-Drop walls are too weak and seem pointless in this mode.
-Load screen can over repeat like its stuck.
-When ghosts damage the trees it appears in the same red as the enemy team’s outlines and makes it look like an enemy is there.
-Vehicles aren’t powerful enough and are too weak damage wise. I tried to take a stronghold with a brand new ghost and was killed in less than 3 seconds by 2-3 enemies with ARs. The guns/shots also don’t feel strong enough on the vehicles.
-Only being able to have 2 types of grenades.

Things I’d like to see
-Be able to spin camera after dying
-Please have a BR start. The sidekick is too weak for BTB (and other modes really).
-Permanent vehicles. I love the weapons drops but the vehicle drops don’t seem to result in the vehicles lasting very long.

Thing is, I don’t have anything against Spartan Agryna. She is similar to the Colonel Holland and Elite Commander voice lines in Reach’s Invasion and that was able to still retain Steitzer for announcing medals. I don’t know why we can’t still have him in Infinite’s BTB.

Just drove the scorpion for the first time, I think it might be worse than Halo 5. The actual shooting is fine although the same splash damage issues that apply to the rockets apply here as well (it really shouldn’t be two explosives to kill a warthog) but the turning is insanely clunky.

It turns independently of where you’re facing and leads to the same 7 point turn maneuvering Halo 5 ended up being plagued with
