Infinite Tech Preview – Big Team Battle

Overall impressions of the BTB mode or very positive so far. Fragmentation is a superb map and I love what you folks have done with the vehicle spawns. Having heavy vehicle spawns delayed by a bit helps the match pacing significantly, IMO.

Main suggestion I’d give is to increase the indication range for when a loot room becomes available for unlock by another 10-20 meters.

Big problem with this method is the battle over who gets the vehicle. Everyone wants to try and it ends up going to whoever’s latency wins. in prior games it was whoever spawned closest that wanted it, which honestly (and weirdly?) felt more fair, and over the course of a play session meant pretty much everyone got a chance.

Vehicle drops are giving very rarely the powerful vehicles.

A lot more trouble connecting this time around. Either wont load multiplayer menu or says I’m not the fireteam leader.

Crashed twice on Xbox Series X. Once from entering the loot cave.

Joining mid match I was killed while still in the loading screen. Kind of annoying.

Exiting vehicles takes too long to get out before they explode.

Would rather the entire team show up at the victory screen. Like in halo 5.

Why are there no female spartans in the multiplayer? No voice choice and just a body type choice? No chatter from them on the battlefield either. More masculine and feminine body types should be added as well to make sure it feels like we are the spartans.

AI… Love the concept, but they need more varied lines and to not tell me I’m running low on ammo every 3 seconds. I don’t mind the introduction of AI and Agryna as the commander. It’s kind of like Palmer from five and makes sense. But we all want and NEED Steitzer!

Not happy about the reduction to medals. The weapon specific sprees and such would be nice. Also here I feel like the AI is trespassing on Steitzer territory. Haha.

Its (maybe) too easy to spot people who are hiding because of the outline system.

Other than that, I hope there is a lot more weapons, vehicles and equipment that we haven’t seen yet. What we have now is nice but doesn’t feel quite as varied as previous games. Curious to know if the Assault game mode returns as well.

A lot more fun with BTB imo. Just enough chaos to get hectic and just enough space for shenanigans. Hope more open and vehicle focused maps are in the making. Like Sandtrap from H3.

Decreasing the threshold for these types of vehicles to spawn would be cool, so we can see more of it all. - On the subject of loot caves, how is the actual loot decided? I’ve opened several of them and every single time it seems to be a gravity hammer, spike grenades, and an overshield. Confirmation of some variety/randomness would be nice.

Update: Played throughout the entire first window, still have not seen tanks or any more air vehicles. Also, can confirm that there are other RNG spawns in loot caves.

I think that BTB shows some of the flaws the game still has a lot more than arena. They, in my eye, are the short radar range and the highlighting of enemy players, as you will always be seen, even when standing outside of the action. With this the scope flare also has the same effect. You have no chance to react or kill anyone if you’re getting shot at just seconds after you peeked. Also the AR not being descoped when shot at, but ranged weapons do, is making this even worse - the AR sometimes kills faster than the commando in mid-far range.

Wonderful job on BTB 343i! It feels amazing to experience even as a player whose not entirely into BTB in the past games. It’s genuinely amazing.

Feedback:

  • Ravager alt fire does not work. - A temporary notification of where ordinance drops would be nice as it’s difficult to know where they are. - Game timer should be increased from 15 minutes to around 30 minutes, games feel a bit too short and doesn’t allow for good vehicle drops to happen most of the time. - Air vehicles should take 2 hits from the skewer. This is to allow you to have a response to being hit instead of instant dead from nowhere. - Air Vehicles should be more common drops while tanks can stay rare. This is just to embrace more of that beautiful chaos and have air battles with other players more frequently. Having them feeling just as rare as tanks doesn’t feel right. - Score limit for Total Control and Slayer should increase to account for 24 players. - Shock Rifle arc should do a bit more damage. - Drop Walls need more resistance. Not too much but just a bit more. - Total Control could use with a holding period for all zones captured. Too many times can it be rushed. - AR range should be decreased or have a damage drop off. I love the fact that the AR is useful now I just want it to be tweaked. - Jeff should still announce medals in this mode.Again this is amazing and Im really looking forward to playing more.

I’ve only managed to squeeze a couple of games in so far but my main comments are:

  • the warthog seems very fragile and a bit underpowered. Certainly compared to the ghost which seems to take far more hits.
    -matches conclude fast
    -unclear on what the fireteams do, and have only come across loot caves in the comments here
  • dead teammates markers are unclear
  • unclear where ordinance drops are despite them being announced

Looking forwards to playing more over the weekend!

Mission Report on 10am to 2pm BTB

Played on Xbox Series S

Issues:

  • Crashing after every BTB match
  • Crashing at customization menu
  • Stuck on black loading sometimes
  • Players popping in and out from the ground but it was very rare
  • Player stutter
  • Running animation becomes stuck at times
  • Gun will not show after picking it up
  • Feels like there is an input delay with my controller, but that honestly could just be my controller
  • Aim assist was off when it come to try to hit multiple people, like it was stuck on the one behind the guy I was trying to shoot
  • Some frames issues
  • Stability issues
  • The outlines personally im okay with spartans, but with vehicles is abit too much. The outline from spartans plus the vehicle outline is pretty much too noticeable
  • Sounds issues when it come to AR, BR, and Commando
  • Customization is still locked from battlepass even though I completed the level for that armor piece
  • Random Stutter from movements

Seconded! I kept running towards dead teammates

Played for 3 hours without a break. Fragmentation is such a great map. First connection attempts were horrible. Joined a match and could stare at a wall while floating in the air, but never spawned. Had to quit that one. FPS and responsiveness were very stable. I’m very sensitive to input lag, but have not noticed it ( Playing on Series X).

One annoying bug. At the first blue flag spawn (on Fragmentation), I was able to sprint into a pillar (1 of 3 surrounding the flag) and was stuck inside. I could not get out and had to kill myself with nades.

Pros

  • Really feels like Halo
  • Great visuals and map design
  • Weapons feel balanced

Cons

  • Ghost seems to be a bit overpowered. Quite hard to destroy
  • Music stutters during loading screens, quite annoying

I would like to be able to communicate with more than 3 of my 11 Teammates.
Halo 2 Style Proximity Chat needs to be implemented. It was more fun and as long as there is an option to turn it on or off, everyone should be happy.
No Traning Mode to explore the Big Map?

First BTB no issues… 2nd dropped at start of game and 3rd entire game shut down and I got banned… If your testing a product that’s has issues to cause a crash the banning on btb needs to be lifted… I understand the reasoning for arena play having it so people don’t game jump looking for a specific map or game type. But seriously btb is 1 map with 3 game type, everyone that was playing just wants to play it…

By far the most fun I’ve ever had from a halo game however I did experience a few bugs for example every time I did a slide I see the inside of my body and sometimes when you reload it makes you reload twice before being able to fire. (my friend was experiencing this to) the new map fragmentation if phenomenal the balancing is perfect if not close to perfect. I personally don’t mind the battle pass system or the challenge system I quite like it. Same goes for the armor coating system. I don’t know if I like the vehicles speed yet they feel really fast and the warthogs sound design makes me feel like a driving a golf cart or Honda Civic. The warthogs turret reticle is not my favorite either it’s too small and and the turret itself feels like an absolute laser whether that’s a bad thing I don’t know. Other than that my experience with halo infinite was amazing hats Off. A few little tweaks here and there and halo infinite might just be the best game of the year.

-Constant static noise during a couple of big team battle matches

-Brief moments with loss of audio and chat while in combat

-Concentrate the position and spread of the bulldog weapon

-Make assault rifle slightly stronger to stand some ground in combat. There are times when the enemy or me have to empty a clip and a half or more to get the kill. It feels nerfed as a base weapon, while the pistol feels about right.

-Vehicle drops barely drop the most powerful vehicles. They also need to spawn some more during a match.

-Please have a reliable ban system that punishes players that are afk the entire time or quit immediately in the middle of a match. This usually happens after realizing they are losing the match. It is annoying and ruins the flow of combat on both sides.

there’s also another issue going on for some of us, we are not able to play cuz in the menu it says we are offline for some reason and it won’t let us access any of the multiplayer modes.

For the warthog chain gun visuals it would be good to be able to see the lines for the bullets rather than just the end point you are shooting at, as it can be difficult to see where you are shooting.
