Infinite Tech Preview – Big Team Battle

Ok so, BTB intro needs to change! There should just be a picture of all 12 players walking up or something like this…OR Don’t even have an intro and the winning team has a screenshot of their team with all their Spartans doing different poses or whatever (standing up with their gun, sitting down, pointing at you, so forth and so forth) The current BTB intro is just stupid. That works fine for four on four but not for BTB

… Now, right off the bat, why no Jeff’s voice!!! What the hell!!! He NEEDS to be in BTB!! This is ridiculous!!! I can’t even emphasize this enough.

The flag should have to be at your base to score. Am I understanding this right as soon as I get into a vehicle my position is revealed??? Why is this??? I kind of like the idea of your flag is at one spot and you have to cap it another. That’s interesting.

For the control mode or territories or whatever you want to call it I really think it should be the more people you have in there the quicker you capture it or defend it.

I know these aren’t just a BTB issue but…

There REALLY needs to be an option for “red vs blue” mode or something

This whole no friendly fire and being able to walk threw players is total garbage!!! No more standing on your buddies head??? Come on!! Why would we change these things from previous halos that NO ONE (At least that I’ve ever heard of) complained about. By the Gods 343I!!! Would you please stop changing things for the sake of change already. It’s getting old.

The PP is pretty useless now. If you’re not going to have the EMP overload on a vehicle then It needs to track more like Halo 5 because like I said it’s an utterly useless weapon in its current state!

I still feel aiming on controllers is pretty bad. Shouldn’t have to monkey with settings for a half an hour just to get them semi-decent and even then, That’s only decent. I don’t know if it’s aim assist or what but the aiming needs to feel better on controllers.

I like the whole unlocking the power room thing. Cool idea. I like vehicles getting dropped in and what not I think that’s cool. I don’t know if it’s just me but when they say ordinance incoming I have no idea where they are ever…

Radar needs to be better. It’s also utterly useless in BTB.

Overall, BTB not too bad But there needs to be quite a few changes I feel and more than not it’s not limited to just BTB as it’s more the game overall.

… Oh and I still want an option to turn off the AI voice. I find them bloody annoying as hell. I don’t mind it if they speak a little bit say in BTB when you’re unlocking the power room door that’s fine but everything else I should just be able to can it!!!

Explosions need a major upgrade visually. They actually look pathetic compared to Halo 3’s from a visual standpoint. Even then after a ghost explodes it still looks usable.

In addition vehicles seem very weak at points, tanks especially should be able to withstand more damage.

Audio damage indicators also seem inconsistent. Can’t tell alot what killed me.

Weapon pickups need to be mirrored. The randomness is not balanced at all.

The sniper rifle also needs more bullet magnetism for controller users atleast. I have missed so many shots that would have hit in all previous Halo titles. This is simply not an acceptable sniper rifle in a Halo game.

Those are some of my rough thoughts so far.

Vehicle drop rate - I feel vehicles just don’t spawn enough, seem to spend too much time running to objectives, get the flag and no warthog/mongoose to begin the chaotic rush back takes away a lot of the fun for me. I’ve had around 5-6 games of BTB this weekend and only managed to see one “heavy” vehicle which was the wasp. Got it with 15 seconds of the game to spare… surely these need to be dropping sooner and let’s say every 5 minutes or so.

Vehicle balancing - the warthog feels too weak Imo. It gets shredded by small arms fire whilst the ghost just laughs in your face then splatters you across the map. I love the ghost btw, handles great and feels like a mini tank

Vehicle handling - I love the handling of the warthog, feels light and the speed is good. The ghost doesn’t feel quite as nimble but the design looks like it has more armour to it so that makes sense! Wasp… well it’s amazing!

Radar - please bring back the motion sensor from the first flight! Honestly worked so much better in infinite than the classic design. 18m isn’t enough too, think 25 would be better.

overall another really enjoyable flight 343! Absolutely love the game and I can’t wait for December now. Just hoping for a few more tweaks :crossed_fingers:

  • By the time a scorpion drops, there’s usually 1 minute left on the clock which isn’t much fun. - Dynamo nades and shock rifle are very readily available EMP that make vehicles a little weaker than they should be, the skewer on top makes vehicles even weaker - I don’t really feel the pulse carbine. Picked it up a few times and tried to make it work but there’s really only one sweet spot with its slight tracking projectiles. Too close and the fire rate is too low and too far the projectiles are too slow and don’t home in - Plasma pistol is kinda useless, its normal shots don’t even tickle and the charged one is too inconsistent - the games have been getting laggy the longer they went on, especially the last minute of a match was usually very choppy for some reason - When getting killed, it would be nice to see a small damage report and weapons used: who shot at you and whith what weapons. In BTB the kill feed can move so fast that you can’t see what/who killed you some time

Where is Jeff Steitzer?, doesn’t feel right without his iconic voice.

I really don’t like how in Capture the Flag after one capture, the flag goes inside the enemy team’s main base… On Friday it would do this after two captures, which I support. But after one, that is too much - it encourages very passive play, and it devolves the game into a bunch of BS camping around the flags. I liked how it was originally released, with the first two flags on the outer flag spawn points of Fragmentation, and then the final flag in the center base. I feel like this approach encourages more enjoyable gameplay, because I had a hell of a lot of fun Friday playing this mode before it was changed.

There’s a visual bug in the interior of the bases on fragmentation. On some of the doorways on the inside, there’s a missing texture and you can see under the rocky walls of the map, and to the void below

for me the game has been absolutely mind blowing and very well done, the only thing that I find a bit a downside is the vault, don’t understand me wrong, I love the idea behind it and the stuff you get in it but it is quiet annoying in the sense that you open it up and if I understood well this is for you and not your entire team to wait next to you and steal/take everything without you even having anything good from it.

Vehicle damage on Ghosts could be improved. On occasion hard to tell if a Ghost is usable/destroyed.

Game is very good overall, loving it more than I thought I would.

Pulse Carbine is awfully underpowered. I tried for 2 hours using only that weapon and not a single one v one could I win, nor could I take down people I got the first drop on despite all the shots landing before they turned around and more -Yoink- landing thereafter and failing to execute.

Alien Pistol (forget name) feels less useful than it used to in past games. Literally never see anyone bothering with it, nor was I able to find any real value with it even over regular pistol. Perhaps I’m missing something.

Overall I’ve really enjoyed all the multiplayer so far. The map design is great, gameplay is fun, I like how the vehicles get damaged based on where they’re hit. I’ve had a lot of fun throwing fusion coils and grappling enemies. I only have a few complaints:

  • if you kill an enemy by throwing a fusion coil at then it gets counted as a suicide. Not sure if this is a regular thing or was just a glitch, but it should definitely get counted as a kill.
  • ttk should be longer
  • Warthog should not flip so -Yoinking!- easily! I get it if your on a steep hill it makes sense, but half the time I go around a sharp curve in a Warthog it will -Yoinking!- flip. A 5000+ lb vehicle should not flip that easily!

:fire::fire::fire: Game is great can’t wait until it comes out in December!

I would like to just spawn with a BR, every time I spawn I have to spend the minute or so just hunting for a weapon with decent range. Also, personally I feel like the gravity hammer weapon drops are kinda useless on such a large map. Skewer can feel a bit inconsistent as well. The game-mode is an absolute blast though.

Even though I’m having a lot of fun there’s so much that needs work. Vehicles are waaayyy too quick and are way too weak. Please go back to the sandbox in halo ce where if you die in a vehicle it doesn’t blow up. The vehicles should be stronger and you should die inside, leaving the vehicle up for grabs. The dooms day mechanic is a horrible feature and needs to be removed. A vehicle that is smoking or on fire should be a more of an indcation that it might blow up and its up to you to know when. Every vehicle should not have a hand holding mechanic when it’s going to explode and keep players in a safe place. The radar needs to have a wider range in BTB at the moment its useless and have no idea why it was like this SMH. I’m playing on xbox one and it’s a terrible experience. Every time I finish a game I have to dashboard quit and restart the game to continue playing. The lag from the servers are terrible and it’s awful just to try and play the game. Shields are way too weak and take way too long to recharge. STOP TRYING TO HAVE A QUICK TTK in halo. I cant explain how I cant get a kill but I can be killed way too easy and this is not because of more than one player shooting at me. One bullet from across the map will leave my shields at 10%…one bullet! This game seriously needs improvement. There was so many times I died and from out of nowhere and no way of knowing. The aim on console is very poor I cant believe you let the game be this way on console but it works perfectly fine on PC. Because of the zero aim assist it makes me not like most of the guns, sniper, Commando, sidekick are all terrible weapons with their aiming. I really want to game to be good and it better have LOCAL PLAY because if its doesn’t and all you have is crossplay which doesn’t work and punishes the player with longer load times if they don’t like crossplay and SBMM being a horrible feature this game will be only for the Competitive players and PC players. Please take everything i said as feedback not an angry rant. I want this game to be fun to play but most of all fair and at the moment if you don’t have the right set up or a good connection it’s unfair.

BTB is a lot fun and the new map is pretty good. I think it’s just a little too busy there’s too much terrain to go over. the vehicle look great but they drive a little clunky and could have better handling. my biggest issue is that plasma doesn’t disable vehicles anymore?? like seriously wtf. who thought that was a good idea that’s only been in halo for forever why remove that and throw everyone off trying to disable them with plasma pistol only to realize it doesn’t work and then makes the plasma pistol basically useless now. I really didn’t like that. I also think it’s a little too easy to hijack vehicles now and the vehicles need to be a lot more durable they get destroyed way to easily. also I know it’s just a beta but I hope these things get fixed as there is a lot of balancing issues and tuning needed for the weapons. I also hope that in the final game for BTB you will be able to select if you want to do slayer or ctf or whatever. I don’t want to join and then randomly get put in so I hope they break down the modes more specifically like they have done previously. overall impressed it was a lot of fun. but I’m also pretty concerned this game doesn’t seen like it’s ready to be released in December. I feel it needs a bit more work for example no teammate player collision is stupid and will ruin forge and custom game types and another thing that was long standing in the franchise and removed for seemingly no reason… and i also feel a big issue is the ttk needs to be fixed you die way too quickly and I hope they add in more weapons and surprise us and add new weapons the commando rifle is just so generic and boring and I don’t know why replace the classic shotgun with the bulldog which is also boring and stupid to replace just like with plasma not working to emp vehicles just such stupid decisions they need better devs working on this and they really need to improve a lot before Dec or this is not gonna do well, but I will keep my fingers crossed as I love halo and it’s my favorite fps and been playing since halo ce so I’m only critical because I want it to be the best game it can be and as of right now it’s falling pretty short of that.

Here is some more feedback that didn’t belong on the “UI” thread:

  • I would like to have an option to lock FPS at 60 instead of 72 - The intro animation is waaaaay too long, it should be shortened by at least 2 or 3 seconds - The shotgun’s range is underwhelming; it basically only works if the enemy is 20cm away from you. - Pulse carbine is kinda useless, it should get some buffs to be more useful. - You should either turn on player collision, or completely disable it (i.e. allies should not be able to run you over with a vehicle). Enabling it again woulld be preferred, personally. - The repulsor’s effect on vehicles is too strong, and should be toned down. - I hope there’ll be a lore reason to justify the plasma pistol being able to pick up ammo. - And on the subject of the plasma pistol, it really needs to be buffed; I’m guessing that the fact that it doesn’t work on vehicles anymore is a bug (it must be!), but it also barely works on enemy players (even after a fully charged shots, it takes multiple headshots to kill someone…) - When you hijack a ghost, your reticle cannot move for a couple of seconds, making it so that enemies can annihilate you while you wait to get control of it.

I’ve made a thread about this but I wanted to make sure this gets heard. When you ping a location or an enemy in BTB, does the whole 12 man team see my ping or does my starting “4 man fireteam” only see it? Because if I ping something I want my whole team to see it, not just 4 people. If this is not the case, please change it, you’ll be breaking up the communication that could be helpful for the whole team. A team should work as a team, not break up into multiple isolated squads.

The random ordnance drops really need to go. This is even worse than the halo 4 ordnance.

Also what’s the point of the random scoring numbers? They don’t actually count for anything so why not just remove that visual clutter from beside your reticle and having scoring just be what actual scores points in the game. If the scoring would count towards battlepass progression then maybe it would be okay but as it is now it’s just a useless visual distraction.

While I find your game to be serviceable, I would like to kindly submit for your consideration that vehicle spawn rate in Big Team Battle is currently too low. I do not feel that the current Big Team Battle is sufficiently capturing the Combined Arms vibe of the mode in previous titles. I would like to see this addressed in the final version.

A big part of why people play Big Team Battle is for the thrill of vehicular chaos and I do not feel the variant of this mode we tested is hitting the mark.

BTB is great for me but sometimes it glitches and I stay on the screen that introduces the teams but I can still control my character
