I’ll point your attention in the opposite direction also, take a look at Bioware, EA, and a little game named Anthem. Apologies are empty platitudes designed to get you to shut up.
Anthem is a terrible example though, they were actually putting in work completely overhauling it and it only got scrapped before anything sizable got done because they’d already destroyed the playerbase
Apologize for outright lying on promises for almost everything to be free and earnable, lack of basic playlists, awful progression etc. The gameplay is pretty good (has issues still) but that doesn’t excuse everything else
If 343 would get off their high horse and be open with the community about everything it wouldnt be so bad. Just look at dice with the dumpster fire of bf2042. We can all agree that the game is not what it should be and they have been open from the start with everything they are doing and where the game is going. Those forums and sub reddits arnt nearly as bad as halos. All we get from 343 is why are you guys mad at us just buy our skins and play the game.
In response to Sketch I will say, nobody from our community wanted F2P so he can bugger off with saying it’s just how it is. They made it that way, so they can deal with the crap storm they created while pretending to be on our side. He even says they willingly locked armour behind paywalls to make money. Screw that, don’t be scumbags.
Don’t send personal insults and death threats though, that’s just way over the line.
there is no excuse they knew what they were doing with the shop and they knew what they were doing launching this bare bones multiplayer especially after what Halo5 pulled. The monetization is disgusting and don’t even begin to tell me they didn’t know what they were doing. F2P was and is just an excuse for them to be able to monetize the game without receiving as much backlash as they would have if it was a fully priced $60 game. “trying to make the best halo game possible” yeah sure that’s why you monetized one of the most important features in halo, customization. They knew what they were doing and there is no excuse for the state that the game is in I am sick and tired of getting half-baked games on launch and having to wait over 9-months to have everything fleshed out because its some “live service” game. what happened to paying for a game and getting what you payed for and then some without microtransactions and disgusting business tactics constantly being thrown in your face. No one wanted infinites multiplayer to be free they decided to make it free as a way to make money.
The game’s pretty good. So why would they need to apologize?
I’m up there with you for being mad about the lack of customization support, but demanding an apology?
They didn’t really hurt my feelings or anything. If anything I’m disappointed.
This is an exceptionally well-worded thread that is considerate of everything that’s happened to date.
We all love the gameplay, we all despise the predatory monetisation in its current form.
We’re all tired of half baked responses from 343i. We just want an apology and a clearly defined explanation as to what is to come for Halo Infinite.
It’s that simple.
They’ve already said there will be game types to choose from down the road. They are able to test the core game types and how people react to them better by forcing less popular game types be played.
It literally can be, and this is proof that people just roll with what everyone is complaining about without actually trying to do things themselves. You can turn off cross play and will have a two separate ranks. One for cross play and one without cross play.
Yes, but “valid reasons” are so vaguest lot of the time and people don’t even actually pay attention to questions that have already been answered. This game, for me, is just slightly better than reach simply cuz the gameplay is faster. And 4 and 5 weren’t even close. People say they “haven’t stuck the landing” but the game literally hasn’t even landed yet.
End result is directly related to making promises about the game before launch they couldn’t keep. The devs at Bioware dropped a half finished game with a pretty crappy monetization schemes baked into it, players revolted due to this and abandoned ship in droves. Once EA realized they wouldn’t be able to re-monetize the game to suit their income hopes, they scrapped it.
Do you not understand what the word censorship means? How old are you?
What a pathetic straw man, try again
What does racism have to do with anything? This was such a terrible analogy
They can make whatever excuses they like, but the MP is barebones.
There are 20 different things for sale in their store (25 if you count the individual credit bundles) with items that change daily. Loads more stuff in the pipeline, so they were able to get the store functioning perfectly, but everything else will get fixed “eventually”. Nice.
We need to be patient, we need to be understanding, this all just happened to be poorly implemented accidentally!
Poorly made UI has “complex and not-ideal progression and challenge systems intertwined in playlists and modes that are not necessarily trivial to de-couple and change”
Take his word for it everyone, they aren’t/weren’t trying to pressure anyone into buying challenge swaps. After all, they generously put 40 of them in the free battle pass for everyone’s enjoyment. That’s more swaps than cosmetic unlockables. We need to be grateful.
PLEASE stop complaining about no dedicated slayer. Sket7ch rightly points out “Historically, a Slayer only playlist and an Objective only playlist has always resulted in the Obj playlist quickly becoming unhealthy”
They already have that problem because people drop objectives in favor of completing challenges, why would we want them to double down on it?
I’m 20.
Yes I know what censorship is. Do you not know what censorship is?

Summary
Go back to COD please.
Not to mention I honestly just find Pokémon more enjoyable, at least when it comes to playing Halo Infinite or playing other games. And before the arguments start flooding in; no I’m not comparing Halo to Pokemon, I just don’t find Infinite’s gameplay to be as enjoyable as previous Halo games.
No, quick play, btb, and ranked are free to play. There is mothing else in this multiplayer. Custom games is broke, and we won’t get any other playlists until after the campaign.
Also, not many people have actually gotten their hands on the campagn, and even fewer have seen it as a whole. I would love to see what makes you think it’s great.
It is disappointing to see infinite launch the way it did. They finally nailed the gameplay (aside from a few light tweaks) which is, in my opinion, the hardest part. I’ve been waiting years for a Halo game that feels this good. Kudos for them on that. On top of that, the maps play pretty great, I’ve had minimal issues on that front. Again, good work there. The visuals and sounds are also to notch. Everything looks and sounds just like Halo is supposed to. Plus, the soundtrack, don’t get me started, fantastic.
Unfortunately, there was a lot of bad and the comments ske7ch made weren’t entirely helpful. No, he and the team do not deserve death threats and all that crap, that’s entirely unacceptable, it’s a game at the end of the day, breathe and test people with some sense of dignity. However, the monetization is nothing but predatory and saying it isn’t while you are charging $10 for some pineapples is, well, hilarious considering you can own appx 6 actual pineapples for the same price. But to me, honestly, that’s an issue but not the biggest. The largest issue is the content. Playlists should never have been an issue. Not being able to customize your Spartan at all until you reach battlepass lvl 81 (unless you fork out more cash) should never have been a thing. The fact that the community, the Halo community, needs to ask for slayer, the staple game mode of the franchise is embarrassing. This game is launching with a new Battlefield, a new Warzone map, and a new season of Fortnight. That’s some tough competition and 3 pvp playlists won’t cut it. Getting playlists out there should be priority #1 (along with fixing desync issues and general stability). Let people play what they want to play, it’ll keep them around longer. Second, work on the store and battlepass. Yes, it is here to stay and they need to make money, that’s fine. Move armor process that were in previous games to the battlepass and, really, just add some to the pool for anyone to use. The store should be new stuff. Like the AI’s, give me a Jarvis AI, or Arnold, or Dr. Disrespect, or Ron Swanson, or Hank Hill…I don’t know, get creative. I (and I’m sure others) would gladly pay money for that and other stuff in that vein.
Okay, so what Ske7ch said. Yes, he provided some info which was good. However, as many have said here, there is no list of issues they’ve heard, no timeline, not much of anything in the way of specifics. Also, saying things like “we owe you no explanation of what we’ve been up to for six years” and “it’s your prerogative if you play or not,” though accurate, was not the right thing to say because it comes off as dismissive of the community you are trying to win. No, none of your potential paying customers are owed an apology or an explanation or a roadmap, but, if you want to build good will those should have been done. Again, none of the hate mail, death threats, doxing, etc are acceptable in any circumstance, but if you want to keep the bulk of your community you need to respond to their concerns directly. Great, FFA, Swat, and whatever the third playlist by the end of the year, social Slayer next year. Why so long? Give a real answer, because it was in a flight, why is it suddenly so hard to implement? If you give the community’s concerns real answers, whether they like it or not, the majority will at least accept it (some won’t and will continue to scream but that’s within any community unfortunately).
343 did build a solid foundation, gameplay wise, to build from. But they need to try and keep this community around and but some good will. Throw some freebies at the community as a holiday gift and an I’m sorry, please be patient while we work. I want this game to succeed and I want the community to come back together. Fingers crossed that the actual issues are addressed, and it is not too late for the game to recover.
I haven’t purchased anything yet.
I thought about buying the Battle Pass, but when I saw there wasn’t much on it, all of the problems in the game and all of the overpriced items on the store, I decided to wait until all of those things were fixed and improved.
