You don’t understand. Designing a UI is hard. It’s not like there was another company that made Halo games that got this right in every game they made. Also six years isn’t that long. It’s like the blink of an eye. This totally isn’t the result of the continued incomptiance of a company that has yet to make a good game.
let’s keep asking for what we want in a game, but don’t speak for the entire community.
good for you if U dipped, and if U are going to, great as well.
there are great, good, bad, and dreadful things in the game, it will never be what everyone wants, but they´ll try, maybe you don’t get what you need from 343i but another will
So do you expect them to not accept money being offered to them?
Really? Because that’s offered to them. A game has to make money somehow. Not that this is the only way to do it but you can’t expect them to implement changes at the snap of a finger.
You want to get all conspiratorial? Fine but please don’t get so bent out of shape over a few missteps. They got majority of the game right on track. Can you say that for Halo 4 or 5?
Censoring your reddit (as funny as it is) isn’t the correct option.
They’ve had a gold mine staring them in the face and they -Yoink!- it time and time again with microtransactions.
Just make whatever halo game they want and SHIP IT with the Campaign, forge, custom games, multiplayer, spartan ops, and a file share. You cannot capture the fortnite market, give up on it already.
Couldn’t agree more. I felt like that post was a half hearted attempt at trying to relate/agree with the community, when all I heard was that they new they made bad decisions but moved forward with them anyway and is tired of being called out.
343i isn’t really active enough on these forums. We have no idea what they are paying attention to or what they agree is problematic. For all we know, what people are complaining about is on their “oh well” list.
All we can do is yell into the void. The more people doing it, the more likely it is that they determine there’s a problem. Nothing is going to change if we say something once and hope for the best, the only way things will change is if there’s a PR disaster and their bottom line suffers.
They really need at least one person whose entire job is to engage with the community, on these forums and on reddit, and be fully transparent. That would keep the people somewhat mollified. But, instead they choose radio silence, meaningless platitudes, and crocodile tears, increasing the frustration of fans and honestly bringing this on themselves.
Run your game however you like, but actions (including inaction) have consequences and sometimes those will make you feel bad. Well, the fans feel bad too, and they’re reacting emotionally. It’s a bit aggressive but, hey, at least we haven’t destroyed their property (looking at you Boston Tea Party), fans have only hurt their feelings.
Thing is, people nowadays have more of a voice than ever and feel less heard than ever, because everyone’s voice is drowned out in the cacophony. So they devolve into the most base things they can think of in order to be heard, which means things like death threats.
If they actually felt heard instead of being told “we hear you”, these things would severely diminish. But 343i has once again doubled down on being right over actually listening to fans, so. The results are unsurprising.
Is this a sob story? I’m sorry I didn’t know did that here. You’re exactly right. You have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes, and yet you still choose to fling around accusations and vitrol.
What I found the most troubling out of everything he said in this “response” was that he floated “UI limitations” as one of the reasons why adding a Slayer playlist is taking forever. That means that the UI was never designed to be able to display much more than the current meagre fare, and thus that they never had any intention to actually add more playlists in the first place.
That, or whoever is in charge of that particular part of the game is staggeringly incompetent and somehow literally nobody in the entire development team at any point raised their hand and said “uh guys the UI we have is going to make implementing our future content plan basically impossible, maybe we should change it?” And that particular scenario is so utterly outlandish to me that I can’t believe that would be true, and therefore the complete lack of being able to choose what you want to play was intended to be permanent.
I agree with most of this post and think it’s a thoughtful analysis. Their “transparency” definitely seems almost nonexistant, and so many promises were walked back on. I find it hard to buy into any more of their “player first” “we hear you” rhetoric until more communication can be made clearly from 343 about what is wrong, why these things happened, and how they will fix them.
There were ways to monetize this game and still make profit, without this progression system, and without paywalling standard expected, promised features.
The user end is obviously not really designed with a “player first” mentality, it’s designed with a “money first” mentality. I hate that, and it’s so dissapointing that it happened, that anyone would think we wouldn’t notice, and that they seem to aim to take advantage of those who don’t.
The first thing you started off with is how you felt abandoned by 343. I found that funny considering nobody wanted to give 343 the time of day when their “sob story” came out.
That’s the issue I have with this community. As soon as things seem the bit slightest bit bad, it’s time to just fly off the handle.
And 343 has to listen to that day in and day out. No constructive criticism in sight. Y’all just call them greedy or quote “extremely” common arguments about corporate greed we’ve all heard before.
