Infinite team still not listening, and Ske7ch343's response is evidence of that

Well, not exactly a disagreement as, by definition, constructive criticism is honest and helpful, not necessarily nice. It should be given in a friendly and positive way which CAN involve saying something they did right, but only if that is true. Starting with what they did right as a rule often leads to meaningless platitudes that aren’t really helpful, and may give the person or company a misrepresented idea of the state of their product. Saying “that was great!” has never helped anyone, because the only way to get better is to identify weaknesses and improve those.

Saying “that was great!” does, however, soften the blow of the criticisms. But it is not a necessary part of constructive criticism.

I’m just speaking in raw definitions here, if you want to begin every criticism with praise then you do you. But I find that, while it may make criticisms easier to digest, it also allows people to bury their heads in the sand and believe their product is “good enough” when in fact it is not.

I will agree Infinite is good. I enjoy it. But I will not agree that it is good enough and I don’t think anyone should allow 343i to become complacent by allowing them to believe so either, until it actually IS good enough, and all of our remaining criticisms are minor nitpicks.

You’re response about having halo evolve is nothing but assumptions and no real substance. You sound like a member from the r/halo echo chamber, You don’t seem to understand that classic halo sales made more than anything 343 has produced. The more they make these games like call of duty and give the middle finger to classic halo fans the worse they will do. This game may very well be the final nail on the coffin.

Oh I’m going to talk down to you, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. I have no interest in changing your point of view as you already labeled me with your toxic buzzword. Frankly the labeling of people on this forum as toxic is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. You’re allowing 343 a clean getaway, they’re the ones responsible for this disaster, not me. I have nothing to do with the dev cycle, apart from voicing my concerns with all the flights for H:I, which were completely ignored.

Lol.

Having to use 20 characters to respond to this feels like a waste.

And I’ll take the high road and say have a nice day, I hope you can work through whatever you’re going through.

Ske7ch’s response was basically “sorry you feel that way but go **** yourself.”

For a summary of Anthem: devs both overpromised and had to redo a bunch of stuff because of an executive demanding flight in the game after it was set up for primarily ground traversal. EA pulled its usual bs and forced a lot of monetization, badly, and when the devs decided to put in the effort to completely revive the game and make it worthwhile (think NMS or Destiny TTK) they had driven away so much of their playerbase that it was deemed a lost cause and it was scrapped.

You’re definitely right that it’s harder to scrap a new IP, but like Rethal said above you, 343 seems to be putting in less effort than even them.

Summary

You’re so incredibly toxic.

I think 343 has earned 100% of the negativity, minus of course personal attacks at devs that are never OK.

They inherited a franchise people had loved for 10 years. Then they hired a bunch of people who didn’t like Halo. Then they took multiplayer out back and executed it in 2012 with halo 4. They launched a fan service product in the MCC in the most hilariously and inexcusable broken state this industry has ever seen in 2014 and took years to fix it. And then for good measure they took the campaign, story, and lore out back and executed that too in 2015 with Halo 5.

And now with Infinite, they are doubling down on one of Halo 5’s biggest multiplayer weaknesses of having no content at launch, all while using a business model that suggests they are trying to make EA and Activision look like generous and player friendly businesses. To cap it all off, their PR response is essentially to blame the community for being disappointed.

Infinite has some serious potential. This game has the potential to be the best multiplayer halo game, full stop. But 343 has demonstrated that they have the potential to take an easy and obvious win, tie their shoe laces together, trip over themselves, and land flat on their face.

I think the community needs to clearly and consistently criticize Halo Infinite’s problems so that, hopefully, 343 will listen and stop acting as if they are their own worst enemy as far as how they handle Halo games. 343 clearly think the world of their decisions. They don’t need the community praising everything just so there’s less negativity.

That’s a whole lotta words, too bad I’m not gonna read it

Stop with the toxicity. 343 have created the best Halo games ever. So what if they don’t have Slayer at launch, it’s a crappy game type anyway. Real Halo fans play objective games til their fingers bleed, just the way 343 intended.

Real Halo players only care about gameplay. So what if they make the UI only navigable by beating your controller into the wall??? The only thing that matters for a video game is gameplay, remember?

Except you used way more than twenty characters mr mathematician.

This comment made me laugh. Hard.

Isn’t this literally true? Does anyone have the source for this. I’ve heard it before,

This whole thing of hiring people who hate Halo came about since Halo 4.

Thank you very much. I was sure I’d heard that somewhere.

We cannot the defend the dev’s when it comes to their business practices. Does everyone remember when Cyberpunk came out and the complete hell that followed it?

When it comes to the way 343i has treated the players I would say it borders on false advertising. We have video footage, forum posts, etc of them saying stupid things like. “The body of customization we have one day one ensures that there will be millions of customization on the battlefield.” - “We are coming at this from a PLAYER FIRST MENTALITY.” - “A lot of our stuff is unlocked through PLAYING THE GAME.” I will not defend a company that has straight up lied to it’s community. Player first mentality. Pfffff. You mean MONEY FIRST mentality.

Ske7ch’s reply on reddit was 343i upset that they are in too deep to correct their mistakes. The fact they are saying that they can’t just make a slayer playlist because of the challenges should tell you that they have long since abandon the player and instead care about the bottom line. The fact challenge swaps exist shows that they knew they’d design the challenges to feel impossible so you would be digging into your wallet.

We cannot defend companies like this anymore. They took a much beloved franchise, gutted it and gave us the bare minimum. We as consumers/fans/gamers DESERVE BETTER!
