I don’t know about everyone else, but a big red flag popped up when I heard about the new Perk that allows a player to sprint
indefinitely. It seems like it will affect the gameplay more than anything else in the game.
I am slightly against the sprint capability as a standard (rather than being some kind of bonus pickup) because it allows players to
quickly escape around corners when they are about to die, and I think this is a bad event that happens often in the combat of halo
reach.
With infinite sprint, wont things simply be too fast? The only way I think it would make sense would be for players to take more damage if they are shot while sprinting, because otherwise it will be very easy for players to avoid death regularly.
I think that the reason that spartans didn’t have the ability to sprint in the first three halo games was because it takes a lot of damage to kill a spartan.
(It takes like 16 bullets in the head/chest from an assault rifle or 4 headshots from a BR to kill one guy!!)
The amount of damage a spartan can take combined with unlimited sprinting would just be to much power to have from a perk!
Does anyone else see this as a problem? If you don’t please explain why this would work well in halo.
just start shooting the sprinter and they will be put into a slow crawl. Problem solved =)
> just start shooting the sprinter and they will be put into a slow crawl. Problem solved =)
Lol seriously though!
(However I would vote for a perk to be implemented that allows you to stop players from sprinting when you shoot them or that allows you to do more damage to players that are sprinting)
It actually isn’t as big of a deal that everyone seems to make it out to be. I used it once at PAX and found it unnecessary, as I was constantly stopping to shoot. Sure, it enables one to quickly run around the map, but it doesn’t do much good when you’re slowed down when shot at.
Looking at the size of some maps infinite sprint is welcomed!
I like the idea of sprint as a standard. A spartan should be able to run. And fast. Not quite sure how it’ll affect the gameplay, though. I liked how reach felt; sprint was the only ability I ever bothered to use. I’m not sure what I think about infinite sprinting yet, though.

This^^
Yes is can be unlimited but if you watch some gameplay you will see that when a sprinting player is shot at he slows down almost to a full stop…besides the maps are big it seems to me it will be very handy on maps like vortex and meltdown. All that being said it seems even more useless compared to other perks you can pick from, it all depends of your style of play.
Infinite sprint will only encourage noobs to run around, sure sprint around a corner with your gun down and let me get the first 2 shots on you… not unbalanced at all
Look at the other options in that catagory. 2 primaries. Shield regen. AA regen. Grenade spam. Infinite sprint is easily balanced against these more combat friendly options, it only -Yoink!- in running very long distances, and on most maps we’ve seen, the default sprint would probably be more than enough. Infinite sprint won’t help much in the short term, whether sprinting around with a sword or running from a horde of enemies. Most of the time when you’d use sprint to get away, you’d only be running down a hallway or something, infinite sprint would only be helpful if you plan on having them chase you across the whole map.
Increased sprint, compared to unlimited sprint, would probably be underpowered compared to the other more powerful options, because increased sprint would still limit when you can use sprint; it’d still have to recharge after each use. The main reason why its unlimited is so that you can ignore this recharge and sprint whenever you want. Increased sprint would not give this benefit, unless it also had increased recharge or something.

Exactly, people don’t know to use sprint properly. It can get you killed real easily if you sprint recklessly.
When sprinting you sprint until you get to a corner and stop right before you turn so you can shoot if necessary.
I just hope infinite sprint doesn’t play a huge factor in the start of the game where there are dead center power weapons.

Pretty much this.
I’m a cautious sprinter myself, I don’t do it for very long at all because I hate having my gun lowered.
Useful in BTB though to get to a warthog but that’s pretty much it for me.
I feel like ALL the perks are a risk.
-
Resistance to explosives AND larger/stronger grenades?
-
infinite sprint.
-
Fast/instant reload.
These things may not SEEM like a big deal- but I know there are already some good combos that I’ll be using, and knowing others will do the same sours the thought of perks in general to me.

I do not, repeat DO NOT, understand how the resistance to explosives and larger/stronger grenades is a fair perk. It seems like a necessary perk for regular slayer/objective. I’m not sure if this can be paired with the Grenadier perk, where you start with 3 grenades, but could you imagine that? People complain of a grenade spam-fest… that would be borderline enough to make me turn into one of those complainers, and I personally consider grenade usage paramount in Halo and never complain of grenade spamming. Infinite Sprint doesn’t seem like it’ll affect gameplay that much and Dexterity is another one of those ‘vital’ perks that will be a loadout in 90% of good players’ loadouts.
