Infinite should have been delayed again

Knowing what you know now about the state of Halo Infinite, would you have preferred 343 delayed the game again? Perhaps by another year? Or is getting to play the game as it is worth the negativity?

Definitely would have delayed this game another year to get the full game and it working correctly.

If I was the lead of 343 back in 2020, I would have advocated persistently to Microsoft execs, please just let us work on the Multiplayer part during this delay, we’ll release the F2P Multiplayer in Dec then after another year or two we will release a full and completed Campaign with a story that doesn’t feel so desperately rushed and doesn’t require erasing the other established lore of the previous games/books.

IMO Halo Infinite now has a multiverse - one where the OG lore remains unsullied and another where the lore is thrown through the ringer of replaceable writers looking for a prestigious job title to slap on their CV.

As far as I’m concerned, Master Chief is still in cryo-sleep waiting on Cortana to wake him up at the end of Halo 3. Everything that 343 has done after H3, could really just be a nightmare that John has been having for the last 10 years now.

Not a bad angle, honestly. Prolonged cryo-sleep leading to cryo-nightmares/psychological damage? Would it really be out of the realm of possibility given the swerves and curves of 343’s story telling?

Delay 1 to 2 years without question. Most potential since Halo CE.

No, because I wanted to play it and while Forge/Co-op would have been nice, I’ve gotten plenty of gaming out of Halo Infinite.

The quote is from before post release patches were conceivable, but “release now, patch later” business strategy ended up proving him right, redemption stories are few and far between.

Or maybe his extended exposure to Cortana and her knowledge of the Forerunners, made him have nightmares/visions while in cryo.

Without a doubt in my mind, halo would have been the most :fire: winter release in history. Too bad the chance is gone now

No. I think the game risked being obsolete if they delayed further and it was the best time to release due to poor showing by Battlefield and CoD. They had already went through a major series of public delays and clearly felt that they had to release on the back of the Flights to avoid becoming being labelled.

The issue is it’s not a solid foundation and they haven’t been able to follow up with additional content. Compared to say, Destiny 2 or CoD.

The plan was a three month season and for Co-Op at launch. That clearly was the intent. It’s not that 343 didn’t get that or had a different plan. So the issues with the game engine are so deep and difficult to solve that they’re not going away.

Some takeaways i had from the March update they just put out;

2 - Completing Season 2 and delivering it as promised on May 3rd.
“Completing” ??? IMO, shouldnt it be pretty much done? Sure feels like they don’t know what they’re doing in Season 1 now and they just make it up as they go along, or so it seems.

3 - Continuing work on Campaign Co-Op, Forge, and Season 3.
Well it’s good to know that we are still getting co-op at all (of course its delayed again) but the fact that they arent pretty much finished with this either is kinda embarrassing.

I would have preferred it be delayed as well. Its just a shame that Halo, (what was once(?)) the flagship Xbox series, was put out in this state.

Piss poor leadership. How do you not know that there are deep issues with the game engine before promising dates and scheduling a release?

How did no one at 343i see the pre-delay footage and say “we should probably have a chat with our developers”? Where was Bonnie Ross during all of that? I don’t remember her saying jack.

When was the last time George gave an update on Winds of Winter?

Either you look foolish for over promising or incompetent for not being able to give an answer at all.

I didn’t see that much Bonnie Ross and particularly Frank O Connor this time around with release. So I am not sure if they’re stepping back from the game side of things.

Honestly this game definitely needed another Delay & I would’ve waited another year for it, this current state & handing is just poor effort

the only thing that need a delay hard was the multiplayer more and not the campaign.

multiplayer is more a big mess right now.
sure there fix it now here and there but with a other delay for the multiplayer was better then we see now more.

We probly would’ve got more content, but the present issues plaguing mp would likely still be there. Majority of the stuff happened after the game went live.

Needed another delay.
