Infinite’s impact on the playerbase?

I was just looking at steam charts and it seems that the release of infinite has not diminished the playerbase of mcc which is a great sign.

Although it may have had more impact on console we dont know since we cant see that. But hopefully this game will keep going strong because it is way better than infinite in its current state

Is the playerbase still about the same as pre infinite or am i missing something?

Speaking from my own experience, I have still been finding games consistently in the MCC since Infinite released. I have a very limited search range too so that’s a big positive if I’m still able to find games so fast. I have seen others around here saying the same thing too.

I have played little MCC since Infinite came out, but I can tell you that the competitive playlists are completely dead

I still find matches just as quickly. My job is remote and I even hop on at lunch (EST) easily. There was a couple of days last week it seemed slower but it’s back to normal as far as I can tell. Been running a stop watch while waiting and noted nothing unusual. Even got in H3 Comp over the weekend.

I have noticed the wait times are a little bit higher than before infinite but nothing too long in social. Sometimes it takes more time to find matches but other than that things have been normal.

I don’t really have issues finding matches. Infinite is awful, players are going to flock back to the MCC after they get fed up dealing with the multiplayer.

I’m not sure about absolute metrics, but I have no issue finding matches for Halo 2 (Classic) and Halo 3. Reach takes a wee bit longer though. Have yet to actually get into a CE match for a long while now.

That’s odd. I find matches very consistently in Reach. Maybe we search at different times though.

Weird I can find CE games well but might depend on what modes/search restrictions you have.

Are you really surprised? Given how disliked Infinite’s store front is and how little actual “free” content Infinite offers, MCC is STILL the better Halo experience.

I had a problem finding matches for CE even before the CGB came out but maybe it’s just my region, but I was always able to usually find a match of it in action sack though. I do find though with CE now, a lot of those players I think just stick to the CGB for the most part. It’s mostly just CTF, Fiesta and Slayer though. I could be wrong but that’s just what I see.

steam stats show
infinite is heaviliy decreasing player population
mcc acctually gaining slowly players in the last few days but its still around the same average. i guess the launch of infinite has caused interest in halo again. those who were waiting for infintie and got disapointed either left or got to mcc. some of those who enjoy infinite maybe wanted to find out about the older games and decided to stay with mcc who knows.
my assumption towards xbox is that majority of players play mcc over gamepass pc or xbox ( personal assumption taking into account sales and that i was finding matches in evry playlist fast since mcc broken realses back then even in ranked up to today ) and not steam and evry population development that happens on steam is mirrored across the rest of the communitys ( thats generally in most games so except when a particular version of a game is highly inferior , or the game has a traditional platform , as a example if we look at multiplayer populations of for example lost planet series wich traditionaly is japanese platform game and thus didnt drop dead when xbox and pc did . ) honestly i wouldnt worry to much about mcc population. some games will always be played , and i think classic halo has earned its right to be one. look at classic counter strike , team fortress etc.

INF’s meager amount of content and awful controller settings I just can’t get used to made me come back to MCC. I played INF until I did my challenges and logged off afterwards, but MCC I just kept playing without really caring about anything else and I had way more fun. MCC is just Halo.
