I’m not buying this story at all. We’ve already had multiple voice actors (including Steve Downes) say ‘November’. While that’s absolutely not definitive as they may have been assuming from last year’s date it also supports other evidence available:

  • Halo: Divine Wind releases on 19 October. Releasing a book within a month after the game makes no sense to me as only the most die-hard lore fans are likely to prioritise it over playing the new game. Releasing a book before the game when hype is highest and people are desperate for any info makes more sense. You can see the same thing with Shadows of Reach releasing September/October last year ahead of Infinite in November. - E3 is at best only 3.5 months ahead of a late September release date. Most places don’t even have preorders up yet. November seems more likely. - Console shortages remain an issue - there’s some supply chain evidence this may be less of a problem later in the year. - Advertising: the primo US TV advertising spots are often during NFL games. The NFL season kicks off in the second week of September which doesn’t give it long. November, however, is midseason. - We seem to know there’s a new promotional tie-in coming, but it’s still not been officially announced. Again we’re starting to run out of road for that for a September release - November 15 is the franchise’s 20th anniversary. Having release shortly after that just makes too much sense

I think that giving them the time to release in November is best. The longer they have to develop the game then the better it will perform and look. It also prevents more crunch and increases the QoL of those working there.

Another good point. Worst case scenario, it’s ready sooner and they have time to get a head start on future content releases

Generally yes.

But in Infinite’s case the ‘crunch’ was heading into November last year. And the general gist of the interviews has been that it was pretty close to being released.

So you would imagine that 9+ months is plenty of time to buff and polish.

At some stage you have got to stop polishing the hubcaps and get out on the open road.

The quality of Halo Infinite’s launch will define it’s longevity most likely to the masses. Unfortunately the metacritic score could be the determining factor for a casual player trying Halo. I would rather they add details, and optimization throughout that time. Launching of the anniversary is easy PR as well.

I think it’s too early for Halo Infinite to come out on September 2021. I still think that November 2021 is the perfect release date for the new Halo video game. And, it is also the perfect day for 343 Industries to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Halo Franchise.

I’m with the other people here; I’m not buying this at all. November is the perfect release date for multiple reasons, chief among them it being the franchise’s 20th anniversary, but also it will be near the holidays. Parents would buy copies of the game for their children as Christmas presents.
