Infinite no longer in Steam top 100, falls behind Roblox in Xbox store

I always see people posting a mix of positive and negative topics on these forums and while Halo has some shining moments I think its still important to let 343 know they are failing right now. I would like to see what everyone has to say on if this launch is enough to cripple infinite for years to come. I understand the game probably (fingers crossed) won’t die, but this is Microsoft’s ace, the flag ship exclusive game, and in 3 months they have lost, apparently, 19.9995 million out of 20 million players. We all know 343 messed this up, but can they survive a 3rd failed game?

20mil describes unique logins, not peak concurrent player counts.

I think the key takeaway isn’t that the game’s overall population is down (apparently still strong on Xbox), but that almost the entirety of the Steam userbase has given up on the game. It exemplifies an issue with the game on PC, but not necessarily an issue with the game overall - in terms of population anyway. As a PC Steam user, I can 100% say that the game’s PC issues are off putting, but couple that with weak content and poor KBM/controller balancing, you’ve got a big reason for that particular population’s decline.

Yeah which is even more concerning, Halo’s real fan base (the people here on forums and reddit) has been dwindling since 343 took over and Infinite was literally made to bring in new fans, a “spiritual reboot that anyone can jump into”. They brought in 20 million new people…no one stayed.

“Spiritual reboot”

has Sprint.

Lol.

I’ll never let this go.

Thank you for this. It’s not all about sprint of course, but to me it seems the issue is (once again) that they changed/added things that ruin the classic experience that hardcore fans would kill for, but that don’t actually keep new players around. Making a game more generic doesn’t equal bigger playerbase. Why are people who played/are playing this series for decades sitting out yet another new Halo title?

Roblox is actually a huge game, it’s literally one of the most profitable games on the Xbox platform, makes millions upon millions a year. If that’s your way of trying to shame Infinite it’s not really a good one.

New games have come out since Infinite too, the player base is going to drop after the initial launch - that happens with literally every game.

I feel like you’re putting too much stock into a couple of ratings boards.
Is the game perfect? No.
BUT progress will be made over time, let infinite find its footing before we try out it up on the chopping block.

Sit back, enjoy the game for what it is.
Stressing yourself out over meta data really isn’t worth your time. It’s none of our jobs to really be massively concerned over it.

man 343 has controlled halo for 10 years now.
Worked for 6 years to create the foundation for a TEN YEAR GAME.
FIVE HUNDRED MILLION, SIX YEARS!
I COULD GET A TEAM TOGETHER AND GET THE GAME DONE IN HALF THE TIME AT HALF THE COST!
I know how to use linked in :sunglasses:

But for real, this whole “it will get better” doesn’t do much in the eyes of a person with standards.

Exactly. Ive been waiting for 343 to do something good for their entire existence. Hell, MCC was launched broken and fixed by ANOTHER studio. 343 has yet to actually accomplish anything besides failure.

500 Million is pure speculation & isn’t confirmed. Let’s not pull out unofficial numbers for the sake of trying to prove a point.
Let’s be real, you couldn’t have made a better game could you.
343 had to make a new engine, make a game that went through Dev hell, a global pandemic, change of leadership, meet expectations of fans & upper management whilst also supporting the game’s live service model & worldwide server support whilst Waldo supporting MCC.

End of the day, what we have is what we have. For the game to get better we all need to wait.

I want Halo Infinite to be better too but guess what? We can’t change its current state, we have to wait for it to get better over time.

I’m so tired of the spoiled child mentality online, sure we all expected a better game but it’s not going to come instantly. Have a ounce of patience.

It’s a game.
Everyone getting massively outraged over a video game is so ridiculous.
It’s okay to be disappointed in the product but it’s not the end of the world. Have some appreciation that you’ve even got the game in the first place smh

Irregardless of your opponent’s argument(s), this is such a cop-out statement. You don’t have to be an artist to critique art. Does extra qualifications lend credibility to your own arguments? Perhaps. But that’s not the end-all-be-all to an argument.

And you’ll apparently never leave the forums after repeatedly suggesting you should just go back to playing MCC.

No proof it’s a new engine. Just 343s talking points

I laughed so hard when I seen the multitude of articles

  • Im just waiting for all the nay sayers to come to the forums and say the numbers are fake or that the steam numbers don’t count to “ wHo CaReS, i pLaY iNfInItE fOr fUn aNyWaYs “

lol no matter what anyone says or how high the population number is just for XBOX ; Halo Infinite is “ dying “ < ( THAT IS IN QOUTES )

The game lacks so much content, horrible event designs and no roadmap to 343 Industries even stating on Twitter that they botched the launch by not having a roadmap in place and choosing to put all there resources into “ HCS “ - This was stated by Joe Staten too, On Twitter and the Halo Discord channel.

As I say many times on the forums…

Defend the game as you will, just don’t get mad at 343 Industries or anyone calling out the problems with 343 and Infinite when the game doesnt meet your expectations.

For now Halo 5 and Halo MCC are the games to be playing if you want the Classic feel or competitive feel.

Ignroing issues specific to Infinite, FTP games in general have a transient playerbase. That there is no financial point of entry or return means you can play, drop out when something new comes along, and come right back when you want to play again, all with no penalty to your wallet.

You’re going to see these numbers change at the launch of every new season, event launch, and major title updates just as we do with several other games in this particular marketplace.

In the next 10 years the New Elder Scrolls game will be release and Infinite will be consider a dead game to me ; HeII, it already is, I only play it when my friends are feeling the space genre.

They can survive, if big daddy Microsoft gives them more allowance money.

The percentages of players lost is almost on par with Battlefield 2042 (ouch). The daily average is maybe 10k more than BF 2042 on most days. Don’t let anybody give you “Xbox numbers” because there is no official data, just desperate hope for a console with the smallest platform amongst its peers.

Its launched with a busted foundation and the basic stuff isn’t even functional at launch. It’s already failed imo, I’m more interested to see what MS and 343 do about it. Throw even more money and time at it?

News flash, they don’t care that they are falling because the BS launch was planned to be a disaster. Bungie pulled this same BS with Destiny 2 launch so they could manipulate the game and the player base to get what they want.

When a company can’t get their act together after a decade, yeah, the company is literally the problem with the game.

Halo can survive as a franchise, but I dont know that 343 can, or at least its leadership.

Why are we so damn obsessed with player counts?

Seriously. What is the point other than to drive people mad?

If y’all don’t have issues connecting to matches, what’s the problem?

Just give feedback and get on with it.
