Infinite needs to end forced crosplay. Its killing the matchmaking fun

since it has become the best exemple there is if a good game name make’s things F2P like the multiplayer what for hell effect you get.
and most off all if you also add force crossplay to it.
thats why its the best source there is how worse the Force crossplay system with F2P can become.

and hallo a lot off us have warn 343 all for it back then in 2020 how worse it become’s with there F2P idea for the multiplayer that you lure only more cheaters in it.

its the same type off warning we have give then when cyberpunk was release in the worst state that we ask then to delay the release from halo infinite since it was not looking good at all.

Darwi: “Cheating’s rare”
You: “Look, old game banned HALF A MILLION cheaters, is that rare?”
Me: “It took over a year and accounted for half a percent of all accounts”
You: “But the old game you now did math on that I specifically mentioned is OLD NEWS”

How can it be the best example if you instantly dismiss it as the numbers and timeframe gets crunched?

I’ve maybe run into no more than 5 cheaters in Halo infinite since launch. And like you said earlier the ranked system would just put them in matches with better players anyway.

Yes I am tired of forced crossplay

I agree, it was possible before to select if you wanted to play against players that use a mouse/keyboard or a controller. Now you can’t anymore and it is frustrating if you are playing with a controller…

343 must absolutely deactivate forced crossplay for season 3 in addition to correcting server problems forcing crossplay is an aberration only pc players want to play against console players not the other way around and we all know why the advantage of the platform and the cheating which is very present contrary to the misinformation that the pc players try to make believe

Interesting I haven’t messed with the dome stick. Was afraid thumb would just slip off. I’ll give we a whirl. Just for kicks I tried a regular Xbox controller and holy crap what a clunky piece compared to an elite. Controls felt so bad it wasn’t even funny

From what I can see here and on other threads.

Two players of equal rank go head to head.

One wins.

If it was PC beating Xbox then they cheated.

If it was Xbox beating PC then it was too much aim assist.

If was the same system - then it had to be lag. Or their better set up.

Seems nobody can just be out gunned any more.

But why?

If you are performing at Rank ‘x’ on a controller… and they are performing at Rank ‘x’ on a keyboard…

What’s the problem?

Both platforms have their pros and cons. And some players will be better suited to one or the other.

But in the end you perform at a certain skill level.

And the match maker brings you in… as a team mate or as an opponent to perform at that skill level.

So why does it matter?

I don’t see this cheating.

Most of the videos or game details people put up as “proof” aren’t cheating.

And no. I’m not on PC. Xbox plus controller for the win (or apparently not).

You don’t win by being better or hacking. You win by buying a better gaming chair.

Youre exactly RIGHT!

I just remember a time where none of that fancy stuff mattered in Halo when now, almost everyone in the community wants the feel and the vibes of the old days… I guess maybe there is no hope?

Ok,

Lets say we have a high level player on an Xbox One VS a mid level player on the most spiffy PC.

Then lets take a mid level player on an Xbox Series VS a high level player on Xbox One.

Who wins most of the gun fights in those two match ups?

You make it simple by ignoring their setup and looking at their skill rank.

The Onyx player on the Xbox One will beat the Gold player on the spiffy PC.

Because the Onyx player is performing at Onyx level. And the Gold player is performing at Gold level.

What you are trying to do is create a bunch of what ifs. What if the high level player was on the PC and the low level player was on the Xbox one.

It doesn’t matter.

The player performs with what they have at their disposal.

I mean, what if, God forbid, they swapped gaming chairs?

Again. They will perform at a skill level with the tools they have.

Who wins will depend on their TrueSkill2 rank.

Depends on their rank.

And what’s interesting is that there isn’t as big a gap in skill as most people assume.

A Diamond player should beat an Onyx player in 25% of their match ups. But people see that 1:4 and assume that the Diamond player cheated. Or that the Onyx player doesn’t deserve their rank.

Sigh.

Nice! I can agree with you on mostly everything you said. && no, I wasn’t trying to “create” anything but I do want to see different takes on this topic. You broke it down pretty good but there is still a grey area in my opinion.

I guess there will always be a little grey.

And it’s human nature to be frustrated with any degree of unfairness. Real or perceived.

How much better would that cyclist be if they had a fancier bike? Would that swimming team be as good if they didn’t have an wizz bang training pool? That hockey team if they didn’t have to travel 8 hours to get to a match?

And I’m not saying we shouldn’t keep an eye on the two groups here.

Hopefully 343 are looking at the two population curves; keyboard and controller - and making sure they both have the same shape and a similar distribution of skill ranks. Adjusting assist and magnetism et al to keep them both as close as possible.

But it’s also up to the player to “let go”.

That opponent has a rank. eg. Diamond 3. And as long as they perform at that rank then the game itself is “fair”. It doesn’t matter what input they use - as long as they play as a D3. Same for yourself, or any of your team mates.

The fact that said player may have only been Diamond 2 using the same set up as you is a frustration. But in the scheme of things it’s a background noise. We’re not playing a LAN tournament on the big stage here.

I think 343 have some work to do. On the PR side of things.

Maybe they need to take away the ability to see who was on / using what?

Change up the type of stats they show post game?

Tricky. The biases are strong here.

Yes. They should make it equal for everybody. Simple software opdate regardless of controller.

No its not. Its straight up rapid fire. Pull trigger goes crazy. Not sensitivity

Then, as what the thread os about - separate the platforms. Put console players agains console players, so nobody will complain that they’ve been outgunned but someone with M+K and/or cheater, and put PC players against PC players, so nobody will complain that they’ve been outgunned but aim-assist. It’s really a quick, very simple solution, to a very simple problem, which should have never exist in the first place.

If you have a Diamond 3 player taking on a Diamond 3 player… what does it matter?

Regardless of input they are both performing at Diamond 3 level.

That’s why they are Diamond 3.

Taking each other on will be a 50:50 contest.

What problem?

what does it matter?
It matters because Xbox players don’t want to play with pc players. It’s not that complicated to understand really. Why does Halo force us to play with PC? The only answer I get is because of low population, which speaks for itself.
