F2P is cool and all but I really hope the importance of unlockable cosmetics is recognized by 343. For me personally I have no interest in buying cosmetics as it’s unrewarding and whilst playing dress up is cool it’s not as cool when it costs 20 bucks for an outfit. If I end up playing the game I’ll get the battlepass but otherwise the cosmetics I’ll mostly be repping will be challenge based. And not lame ones like get 500 hunter kills or whatever. Cool -Yoink- like beat the campaign on LASO. 30 killstreak. Get a steaktacular. Get a killionare. And ofc grind based ones like hitting a certain level. I know this stuff is obvious but I’m just putting it out there so there’s more talk about this cause I don’t see people bringing it up much. Everyone just seems happy as can be about spending 20 dollars an outfit to customize your spartan and that’s concerning.
Edit to give more light as to what I’m concerned with…

Honestly not sure if I’d want them cause I kinda dig them in cod but still. These are all unanswered questions. Least till we get the game. They said on the vid yesterday that the majority of unlocks are earned in-game through challenges.
You don’t have to buy anything. Everything is unlockable through challenges.

I suspect that the MCC is a testing bed for how progress in Infinite is going to work. Levelling up will probably get you season unlock points, that you spend on whatever season you want.
It seems the big point of difference is going to be that you’ll have to pay for each season (battlepass), rather than getting it for free like you do in MCC. Rather than paying $20 for a single outfit, you’ll probably pay a similar amount to gain access to a bunch of challenges, and a progression line that allows you to unlock many outfits and weapon skins.
If this monetisation was part of a full priced game I’d call it scummy, but since base multiplayer is going to be free I might be able to forgive it. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I doubt that. Maybe at the start when they only have a handful of cosmetics but 6 months down the line that surely won’t be the case. Also they didn’t say most of them would be unlockable I’m pretty sure. Pretty sure they a lot of them. Big big difference.

F2P or not there’s no excuse for terrible MTX. You can still make billions on reasonably priced skins mixed in with unlock based ones. Also I’m pretty sure the way it’ll be is like every other game with the storefront and paying for outfits because they used the term “store” and they added a store in game for you to purchase stuff with unlock coins on mcc. Reminds me of something like COD points.
You buy the battlepasses and grind them those are how you unlock cosmetics, as well as other challenges and premium cosmetics.
‘Halo Infinite’ will include “premium cosmetics” but no loot boxes To what extent we don’t know
I think their model is better than the majority of games that use microtransactions. Of course there are things they will have to prove throughout time with them.

Yea I think it’s way too early for everyone to start praising them. Their MTX should be met with skepticism. Not universal praise over something we barely know anything about.

They announced more consumer friendly systems though. They explained the system pretty clearly for me.

Yes… But many factors still yet be known will determine whether or not they do a good fair job with MTX. Lots of questions. Is the battlepass worth it?..Does it take forever to grind? How many in-game unlocks are there?..are they good or bad?..are there challenge based ones or are they all grind fests to get you to stay on the game?..Will they continue adding in-game unlocks after launch or stop when they deem there’s enough? How expensive will the in-store MTX be?..20? that’s too much. 10?..more reasonable but not optimal…Will they end up only focusing or giving an overwhelming majority of time to premium cosmetics?..will they start adding in anime skins and random crap? Honestly not sure if I’d want them cause I kinda dig them in cod but still. These are all unanswered questions. Least till we get the game. So the universal praise and people kissing at the feet for a MTX system they barely know about is concerning. People forget quick how predatory the H5 MTX were.

I’m quoting a previous reply to show what I mean.

I think all of those are pretty solid valid questions. They announced they will have seasons which seem like they are themed around Halo’s lore possibly. We do not know what exactly part of a season and if you have to pay for it I believe. Lots of questions however they are starting off pretty good and I will be critical if that changes.
I’d recommend hitting up twitter and try using the #ask343, But than really getting the same circle jerky answer that you will here, As all of us are really just speculating with what little info has been given out. Aslong as there aren’t any lootboxes(that they confirmed there isn’t) I’m happy.

Same. I’m not saying hate on them but the whole fear of “MTX fears have been silenced” is silly. As far as we can tell they’re doing the exact same system as every other game these days and I wouldn’t expect anything less. I’m just saying for everyone to be skeptical. Praise them on what we know is good (which honestly even after E3 doesn’t feel like a lot as the game has barely been shown) and remain skeptical or neutral on more uncertain aspects.

If microtransactions have a more prominent role than we think then they will need to deliver constant quality content at a high enough frequency to show where those funds are going.

From whatching the multiplayer overview, at 7:22 it seems that the battlepass unlocks are tied to leveling it up and not bying tiers with season points.

This is pretty normal. My concerns are more in what I’ve described in the second half of original post.
