Infinite MP is just bland

I have played every FPS Halo they’ve made. I’ve also played many other fps games on console and PC. Infinite isn’t a bad game per se. It’s just that the map design, weapon balance, and movement don’t work well together to create what I think of as a true Halo gameplay loop. Most of the pickup weapons and items are virtually useless and even if they were useful, the maps don’t reward good positioning and map control like OG halo games.

Basically, Infinite MP isn’t particularly good or bad. It’s just meh. I’ll play it occasionally since it’s still better than COD, but this game could have been so much more and it’s pretty disappointing tbh.

We need BR start playlists, that would help loads. Everything is freaking AR even BTB lmao… which is boring. Only thing we have is SWAT and 1 ranked playlist.

Yeah the AR is basically just an auto laser right now. Couple it with a decent tactical awareness and generous melee attacks and you’re dominating in most social games.

Agreed. I’ve played maybe 2 games a week in the last month. Not even playlists made me want to play, the gameplay just lacks so much. It’s very samey, kills aren’t THAT satisfying, the controls feel like you’re trying to wrestle a bear, and once you’ve seen the grappling hook gimmicks once its like… Ok.

Maps are boring and uninspired, physics are bland, everything is just… mediocre at best. Coupled with the most frustrating desync, hitreg, audio cues, and general player experience it’s so much more frustrating than it is fun.

Booting into a map and gametype in h3 feels like such a fresh experience each time, even if you’ve played the map 100 times before. Infinite I’m like oh… okay, guess I’ll play this.

I play on a Series S, Controller, on a 4k tv so maybe that has something to do with it, but I found the controls to be pretty nice. Then again, that was after I switched to the call of duty button layout (default I think) and that has worked the best for me so far in creating a smooth experience. Bumper jumper is what I would use on a classic halo and that did not work very well in infinite. Bumper Jumper definitely gave me that “wrestling with a bear” experience as you put it.

Personally though, I’m fine with halo having sprint/slide/clamber. I’m most disappointed in the maps and weapons. The maps don’t really punish bad positioning (a lot of people attribute lack of punishment to sprint and I get where they’re coming from but it’s actually map design) and don’t reward good positioning/power weapon control nearly enough imo. Getting a lot of halo 1-3 inspired maps might fix the issue though. We’ll have to see what 343 does.
