I actually enjoyed the reveal demo, but there’s 2 things I really didn’t enjoy.
1- Blood didn’t show on the environment. It’s not the biggest deal, but with the classic Halo feel I really want blood decals to show up on the environment and such. There’s already blood in the demo, but it doesn’t show up on the ground/walls. Hopefully it’s because it’s a WIP, but it just looks wrong.
2 - Some of the new UNSC weapons look really generic. That new Automatic rifle looks straight out of a modern shooter. Likewise with the shotgun. Nothing like the classic artstyle.
I agree about the art style. I love how outlandish the Halo weapons can look sometimes and I hope they return to more of that in the time they have left.
I was disappointed with the lack of classic weapons shown in the demo. I of course expect 343 to show off new weapons and I expect a plethora of new weapons since this is a new faction in the FPS Halo games where you can really see their weaponry in action, but the only classic weapon we saw was the AR. The Magnum isn’t even the Magnum, it’s the Sidekick, the new auto rifle is like the DMR but not semi-auto (did it replace the DMR?), and there were no returning classics like the SPNKR Rocket Launcher, the Sniper, or anything else. I’m sure they’re all in the game, I was just hoping to see more of them and it makes me wonder how much of the weapon sandbox is familiar versus new
Also I’m thinking that maybe that shotgun we saw is not the normal Halo Shotgun but a Banished shotgun. It’s black and red like the other two Banished weapons we saw so I don’t think that’s the new Shotgun

That could be the case, but even in Halo 5 there was blood splatter for at least grunts (the rest of the races had little while the humans had none). I really am just hoping it’s unfinished.

The game page lists Infinite as T so I assume that’s the reason for the lack of blood.
Look good to me. I am going to wait till i see the final version before I make a judgement on the style and renderings. I’m a programmer and know these things are done this far out. Gonna look different then we saw today as they tweak lighting and every aspect.

Thank you for saying this. I’m not a programmer, but I was making the assumption there is more work to be done to make this thing a final product. So thanks for confirming that assumption for me.

That’s disappointing. It says violence but there is obviously blood coming out of the characters that get shot. Wonder what constitutes that.

There is a lot more work to be done. I never assume its close to being done till i hear its gone gold. I know some of the projects i am working on are not finished till an hr before launching them. Not because of procrastination or anything but sheer volume of finding something new to fix.
My son is in 3rd year of video game design at university and i see some of the behind the scenes action from him. It’s nuts. After my job choice and seeing him work on things for game dev showcases I never judge a game till its in my hands and playing it. Even then games do get better. Diablo 3 was a hot mess on pc in the beginning but the console version led to corrections on pc and now i can’t stop playing it.

Sounds a lot like the crunch time we got during H2’s notorious development. I suspect we will see the same thing with Infinite.
The problem is it looks like your playing in an artificial movie set rather than that feeling of a living game world, its the same -Yoink!- flat textures that Halo 4 and 5 had, just no depth at all, everything looks so plastic.

Yeah, I really think they might need to delay and scrap Xbox one compatability.
I don’t care much for blood, but I agree with the second point. I hope we see more interesting weapons in the future. I wonder if the open world design led to the desire to add a ton of weapons. That could result in a lot weapons with generic play styles.
