Infinite is the worst campaign in the IP's history. Not worth $60

Oh god the last 3 hours of the game were just “run to this area and kill a bunch of enemies guarding the button, push the button, go to another” why did they feel the need to have MULTIPLE missions where you had to go to multiple spots and do the same exact thing, good god I just wanted to finish the game lol

there is achievement for beating the “main questline” in 8 hours my first speed run was 3 hours 58 mins. it would have almost an hour shorter but the last 1/4 of the game glitched out and i got stuck in several rooms for like 5+mins each because the doors wouldn’t unlock, and my game audio broke so badly from skipping cutscenes i had to restart my xbox

my friend did I call you out specifically, no i was referring game magazines and youtubers who are paid by gaming companies to hype up their games. that said I glad you enjoyed the game, but I didn’t.

why couldn’t 343 have done it like the older games from CE to halo 4 we push a button and then defended it against waves and waves of enemies

I wouldn’t know, I can’t play because my save file randomly became corrupted, which is a widespread issue for WEEKS and 343 haven’t said anything. But MFers on social media be crying that the cat ears accessory is the “biggest” issue in the game.

Great game and great community! :+1: :+1:

Up until you meet the Harbinger the first time is probably the best part of the campaign. Past that point its a sea of sameness.

The monitor boss is kinda neat I suppose.

Escharum suffers heavily from ‘video game badguy syndrome’ where he talks about honorable duels and stuff but kidnaps you friend and has an invuln shield that transfers his pain to your friend (such honor), after subjecting you to multiple fight arenas and a stealth assassin.

The final level suffers the same problem Skyrim has where the first and last dungeon are effecitvely the same. Neither get a proper intro cutscene (srs, why don’t we get a good look at the auditorium?). And its just a slog until you fight monologueing space lady who’s queen of the braindead squid monkeys.

Honestly the last level was just painful. I only did it that evening because if I knew if i stopped I wouldn’t pick up the game again.

Heck one of my friends literally hasn’t picked it up since because he had to stop and doesn’t feel like there’s any reason to continue the campaign.

Ignoring the Power Seeds, I think I can understand 343’s approach to the campaign.
Every OG Halo title had one or two “open ended” levels. The open world was meant to emulate that.

So the layout will be :
Mission, Open Ended, Mission, Open Ended, Mission, Open Ended and finally three Missions back to back at the end. It’s a short game if you don’t bother to explore or take advantage of the open ended nature of the open world to experiment with sandbox elements.

I’m just gonna say, 60 bucks for base price, I can close one eye. But they had better not be charging each Campaign expansion for the same price, especially if it’s gonna be similar to the base Campaign.

Just wait till forge releases, I bet they will release half of Forge content and monetize the other half

I think for many of us the open ended portions just don’t feel as enjoyable as the open areas in past titles.

Not only do they look the same, but they feel the same. You effectively have the same handfull of activities in the same looking areas.

Doesn’t help the environment is really hostile to vehicles and vehicles themselves largely feel useless.

And it might sound funny, but the FoB’s and HVT’s who camp out in the middle of nowhere for some reason feel particularly immersion breaking. I don’t feel like i’m on an ancient halo ring. Wide as an ocean, shallow as a puddle.

Meanwhile I loved exploring the maps in halo titles to see weapons and vehicles that were stashed places. Infinite just lets you spawn whatever out of an FOB and the audio logs are really inferior to some nice terminals.

I get the idea of using the open world, but I feel like the game doesn’t do it well. I had fun for 10-20 min with it and was done with it. It doesn’t help that there isn’t much in the way of new toys.

I blame this entirely on the fugging terrain. My favourite thing to do in Halo open ended missions is ride around in the Hog. I can’t do that without flipping 10 times and getting stuck.

The activities is whatever to me, because my way of enjoying open world is look for nice scenic views and proceed to snipe whatever I can find, like hunting.

The only thing which they have done badly in the open world is severe lack of biomes. It’s all the same biome across the islands. Totally boring.

Yeah. I had fun in the first island to be honest, though the terrain being vehicle unfriendly put a dampener on things.

…then I went to the next island and it was the same as the first.

Honestly each island needed something to make it feel unique from the others. Even if the biome was the same, it needed something that could make you look at it and go “Oh thats island x!”.

But its just the same loot caves, banished bases with fuel tanks to explode, the beamy tower things from halo CE, over, and over.

you play more chief in h2 than the arbiter.
but in 5 he is sidelined for a generic and boring locke.

Barely, and chief barely does anything of import in h2. He just chases prophets all game.

While he certainly gets less screentime, I don’t think sidelined is the best term.

Halo 5 is still a chief and cortana story. Locke and co are boring because they have nothing to do with the plot. They’re just chasing chief.

Exactly. Osiris could be cut out of the writing entirely, and you can focus on just Chief and Blue team and STILL have a good H5 story.

And when Chief goes Awol, you could actually send Blue Team to accompany Locke to bring him back. Blue Team will obviously have their turmoil on confronting Chief, but they also want to bring him back home.

Such a wasted story. It makes me mad how bad H5’s writing was.

Actually just let me expand on this even more.
After Blue Team + Locke finds Chief, Blue Team learns of Chief’s reason for Awol and sides with him, and Locke then has to chase them solo. NOW you can introduce Osiris if they really wanted the Fireteam mechanic running, but it would be more dramatic if Locke was soloing it.

I miss alien daddy this much.
O

The joke here being there’s no end to the distance it just loops.

whatever anyone says. im glad the atleast tried ti sideline 5’s story in infinite. like h5 did with the h4;s amazing story. i mean its only fair now. Also 5 doesnt even have that good of a story to have a sequel. the banished literally are more interesting than all of the created arc. cortana dies in 4 and magically she survived(dont lore bs me as if this wasnt a retcon it would have been in 4) gets cured and tries to control the galaxy.

this actually would have made more sense.

For sure, havn’t seen hype so big and such disappointment since H3.

Playing on Legendary at the moment and completely stuck on the third wave of enemies before finally beating the harbinger. This scene really just shows how rushed and half -Yoink!- this game was. It’s honestly worse than H2 legendary, this isn’t a challenge, it’s 14 enemies that can one shot me spawn in a circle around me and laugh at me as I scramble for the cover that doesn’t exist. But it’s all ok cuz the art student said the arena looked “aesthetic af bro”

I was super meh about 3 after seeing it’s huge hype and then lackluster story and balance, But this game has made me mad, the playtesters must have been asleep or only played about 15 minutes of the game.
Im done with Halo
