Infinite is the worst campaign in the IP's history. Not worth $60

If you want to blame the narrative disjoint, blame it on Halo 5.
Halo 4 was Force Awakening the series and Halo 5 basically Last Jedi’d it.

Infinite basically had to soft reset the entire franchise by killing off the major plot drivers in order to establish a new story. Thanks Halo 5.

Well… For starters we don’t know that Chief’s missing time is necessarily time travel, but time manipulation on some level isn’t new to the series. Slipspace and forerunner technologies have been known to bend time to some extent, causing Master Chief to return to Reach after CE only a couple of weeks after he left despite it being over a month for him for example.

The Legendary cutscene with Atriox and the voiceover aren’t necessarily happening simultaneously either. We are either seeing something he did before he died, or we are seeing that he isn’t dead but was actually the one the Harbinger was talking to when she told someone they had everything they needed to bring back the Endless, and that’s just what we see him doing.

At no point in the story was anything we can hard confirm as time travel.

And honestly, I’m really, really happing with how they chose to resolve Halo 5. Nobody wanted to go where it was going, and having it all resolve before the start of the game while we pick up the pieces and learn about what went on not only between 5 and Infinite, but also during the 6 months between the opening and the rest of the game was pretty awesome. We basically got to experience everything alongside The Weapon as she learned all the secrets Master Chief and the UNSC kept from her.

Highly agree. Many people don’t like 4 and 5 but you don’t cut off the last part to the reclaimer saga.

Like comon man I wanted to see blue team in action

  1. So do I.

  2. Was there any guarantee they had a part to play going forward? Their part of the story may have been done with H5.

  3. I don’t see why we can’t catch up with them again going forward.

Actually no. Halo 5 was the Halo 2 of it’s time. Cheif wasn’t suppose to be the focus. In the third game just like Halo 3 he was suppose to be the focus again

It’s clear that blue team would’ve had more of a role in the next game that would be Halo 6

This.

The worst part of Halo 5 was the cringy dialogue between Chief to and about Cortana.

It would have only been ramped up going forward. Chief was never going to win a shoot out with Cortana so it would have been all about the emotional fight.

Urgh.

It just wouldn’t have worked… and would have been a very tough sell to a new (PC) market.

The way they did gave Cortana a redemption arc (not much of a redemption - but at least she got a chance to apologise, say good bye, and save the Galaxy). It bypassed all the emotional stuff that wouldn’t have worked. And gave us nu-Cortana.

Win-win.

This is the straight up worst take period.
Halo 2’s Arbiter story arc sees actual growth and change in his belief as well as his actions over the course of the campaign and was essential to solidify the partnership between Sanghili and Humans.

H5’s Osiris were just arrogant bunch of Spartan IVs running around being exposition moutpieces and stuck to their same dumb mission which they actually came close to accepting was not as important as helping Chief find Cortana. OH NO HE’S AWOL OH NOOOOOOOO

Halo 2 is a better story.

I know this.

What I’m saying is the setup was the same. You play as two characters in the game like Halo 2. It was the same layout with blue team and fire team.

I have found the campaign to very much mimic Destiny 2’s story. Destiny 2 set up a new enemy that is a side faction of an old enemy, which invades Humanity’s last stand aka the last city, from there the hero we have come to know the Guardian is defeated. The hero is saved or welcomed by a normal person, Hawthorne, her character acts as a different perspective of the Guardian who is a solider with mission, she represents a common human and their struggles. After fighting bosses and connecting with this new characters who influences the Guardian or their purpose the Vanguard, the main character defeats the main boss, which leads to the reveals that a new threat, Darkness will arrive at some point.

Now this may be a broad comparison but,
Master Chief = Guardian
Banish leaders/Harbinger = Destiny 2 baddie (IDK his name anymore)
Hawthorne = Pilot
Darkness = Endless
Filler missions of defeating “tough” foes in Destiny 2 = Filler missions defeating “tough” foes in Halo Infinite

I am as well very annoyed their removal of every character 343 has created besides some banish, like some have stated this is Halo 7 not the sequel to Halo 5.

I love HALO Infinite

Because the Master Chief is cool …
Very cool
He is the hope of mankind …

Because Atriox is cool …
I’m a member of Banished, so I want to betray humanity as much as possible …

But it would have been better if there was an arbiter
With him he wouldn’t betray humanity …

I’m already
Spartan, Spartan, Spartan & Spartan, Spartan, Spartan & Spartan I don’t want to see the story
I hate the setting and existence of Spartan 4
It is a blasphemy of Spartan 2, and the fact that he tried to use Spartan 4 as a substitute for the Master Chief is the work of Psychopath, which causes nausea.

Since you are Banished, why did Atriox not end Master Chief? Was the monkey not aware of the Spartan’s ability to survive in space? Has he not played Halo Reach?

some of us call her a genius, btw nice word salad

Atriox doesn’t always do it to the end …
So we don’t know the Spartans who died in his hands …
Douglas is fine too …

HALO infinite agrees that the story is subtle.
However, compared to playing with the hero who can not sympathize with the meaningless story at all with HALO5
Somewhat better.
I hope Spartan 4 will continue to disappear.

I would say the campaign was nothing more than decent, definitely not worth 60 bucks. I’m assuming they knew that after 4 and 5 and threw me that 1 dollar game pass trial lol.

After reading all the “10/10 best halo ever!!!” Reviews I expected much more and don’t know why. That made the sting even worse, story was uninteresting and left on a cliffhanger but not in the same good way halo 3 did, just in a way to sell more games or dlc

Wow there’s actually people who unironically think this campaign is garbage.

I’ll be honest, 343 made a mistake trying to cater to the older fans. It’s clear they won’t be happy with what is, in the eyes of most people one of the best halo campaigns to date. Going forth they really should just ignore everything the older fans try to tell them and just focus on the newer demographic because as of now the older fans of the series are being an anchor.

Like y’all really thought Halo 5’s campaign was better than Infinite’s… this has to be a troll post.

Who said halo 5s campaign was better? And how is this the best halo campaign, plz explain

I’d rate the campaign as good. Not amazing, not terrible. My main issue is that I’m not impressed by the open world aspect at all. I like Halo because it’s an arena shooter with tightly designed combat arenas. The open world naturally infringes on that tight game design.
