yeah and I would argue we saw too much of him. Dude is over-the-top wannabe villain guy. Everything makes sense (seems as though he’s dying from old age or something?) but honestly Eschar is a really boring main villain. I’d argue that Jega would’ve made for a superior main villain honestly, though probably wouldn’t have made as much sense why an Elite is #2 in command.
The only thing that irked me was Playing as MC only to discover that MC knew what was happening the entire time…
Playing the game to discover major events in the past that I was already apparently involved in…
Seemed like it was obviously meant to sell a later DLC in my eyes.
yepp, pretty much. attempting to retcon everything in order to rehash the same trash…
What else does he have to fight for? He doesn’t want to die. Most people, don’t want to die, Most people don’t want to throw themselves at death.
He doesn’t want to die. That’s like, most of his early arc.
I don’t think the quantity of Escharum was the problem but I do think 343 could have written him better and done more with him.
Initially I was really excited to see the story from a different angle but that quickly fell apart to be replaced by shouty holograms.
I don’t think though that’s an argument that he was over exposed, just that he wasn’t written or shown off well. I think you can showcase other characters, even antagonists, to a greater degree and make it work, I just don’t know if 343 have that ability.
I thought the campaign was great personally
Don’t worry, he’s very much not dead. Check various Youtube Videos. He cloaks as he falls “dead”.
I don’t necessarily agree he’s a stud, since no Elite will ever measure up to Rtas’ sheer amount of absolute DADDY but there’s appeal in Jega I guess.
Boy did he get me hyped up when I saw him tho
okay i’ll give you that, we could have at least seen him at some point like the bob elite in reach.
That really wouldn’t surprise me and honestly, I shouldn’t say this, but I wouldn’t mind that if they did a better job of selling me on that.
Just focusing on the 343 games, after Halo 4 I was eager for Halo 5, after Halo 5 I was eager for Halo 6 [Infinite] because I was invested in the story and wanted to know what happened next but after Infinite I don’t feel like 343 has given me a reason to care “yeah yeah I know the Endless they’re worse than the Flood because reasons and yeah I heard they’re back but why do I care it’s probably just going to be me shooting a different colour pallet of baddies”
I do wonder how many people after completing Infinite were excited to get to see/face the Endless.
he just wasn’t intimidating honestly. Its because his voice acting was so ridiculous. The hammer wielding Brute that surprises you is far far more scary in my opinion.
Eschar just wasn’t cut out for the role honestly. The kind of villain that likes to monologue for 15 minutes before they kill you… Basically a Marvel villain or something.

Who dat? I only know Arby, shipmaster, and Jega off the top of my head. I don’t know all elites by name, I’m not that much of a lore nerd.
Jega is just… irreplaceable
I’m excited to see what the endless are and what new game mechanics and lore they’ll bring
well said 80% of this game seemed to be retcon plus bringing stuff form wars really didn’t mix very well with the FPS
Yeah Rtas is the shipmaster! TOTAL daddy!!
And yeah, Jega is irreplaceable. lmao I feel like we follow the same artist on twitter.
Shipmaster is Rtas, the half jaw
I will put my theories into spoiler bars so you can just relax if you don’t wanna hear anything more about them.
Spoilers/Speculations
The two theories as to what the Endless are that they are either Precursors in some form, or they are completely new and nothing we’ve seen before.
If they’re the former I imagine them being super cool boss battles, if they are the ladder, I imagine they could be anything, but realistically they’d have to have some interesting design choices and mechanics so nobody really knows.
The theory holds that they would have no central nervous system, so I imagine squidwards lol.
The last Precursor in this galaxy and all the left behind Precursor technology got smoked by the halo’s firing
I have also heard the lame theory that its just Flood 2.0, but I doubt that.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
I’m of the belief that Infinite will have DLC every 1 or 2 years. This DLC in particular is probably mostly finished.
95% betting on them being something new.
