Infinite is the worst campaign in the IP's history. Not worth $60

I get it. You dont like the campaign or you expected something else. Dont know, more cutscene, another story line. Thats alright, its your personal opinion, i respect it.
Honestly, like i said. I like the new campaign very much. My opinion.

  • Story (what little is there is) is laughably bad, convoluted and, AGAIN, you are telling instead of SHOWING.
    agree

  • Echo 216 is a walking downer. How did we go from characters like Johnson, Keys, Buck, Locke, Lasky to… this?
    agree

  • Why does Fauxtana (aka “The Weapon”) always have “derp” face? Even real Cortana looks a bit derpy. Halo 5 looks so much more professional in so many ways.
    ?

  • Why does this Halo ring have only ONE biome?
    absolutely agree

  • Why did you set this game on a ring that is brimming with lore and do NOTHING with it?
    absoulutely agree

  • Are the “Xalanyn” (lol really?) the Precursers? If so… why? Why aren’t they “dust” like the rest? Did you retcon the Precursors out because “Flood” characters will give the game a “M” rating? What the hell is going on?!
    yep agree

  • So no real conclusion to the “Reclimation saga”, now some Disney Star Wars looking alien is all about the “Reformation”? Please tell me you didn’t pay the writing staff.
    ABSOLULTELY AGREE

  • How are The Banished more capable than Cortana and her Guardians?
    ABSOLUTELY AGREE

  • Wheres the Spirit of Fire? Wheres Blue Team? Where Osiris? Wheres Arbi?
    ABSOLUTELY AGREE

  • No coop, no forge, no replaying campaign missions.
    ABSOLUTELY AGREE

  • Took the premise of an explorable Halo ring and just did a copy/paste Far Cry knockoff. With copy/paste Forerunner interiors. What were you doing for SIX YEARS?
    ABSOLUTELY AGREE

  • Time travel. FFS you guys are just out of ideas aren’t you?
well we got something new here and there but its all over the place

  • The gameplay is good.
depends on viewpoint . compared to halo ce ? not a chance , in my opinion the ce experience is the most refined campagin experience in halo almost perfectly balanced legendary difficulty, and each level had something new. compared to 4 and 5 for sure .

i cant wait until the charchge the next 30 to 60 € / $ whatever to get the next dlc where again nothing will be resolved. maybe they resell us coop in form of a seperate coop campaign or somehting who knows .

that is what gamepass is for.
I personally like it.

I already had my issues with Infinite’s campaign. All I am gonna say is, it is definitely not worth the hype. Just the sudden omission of Blue Team and the Arbiter immediately made me subtract a LOT of review points for the campaign. And then there’s the lack of co-op, forge, and replayable campaign missions. Plus, a lot of the new characters did not even interest me whatsoever. Another one of my biggest issues with Infinite is that it relies way too much on nostalgia, fanservice, and “overcorrecting” to appease the toxic fake Halo fans who hated Halo 4 and 5! It’s visible in the art style, soundtrack, and overall campaign direction. So this means a bad weapon sandbox, an outdated art style and soundtrack relying too much on fanservice and nostalgia, and overall the worst story in ANY Halo game hands down. Why do we need to get rid of Blue Team, Buck, Lasky, etc.? Is “overcorrecting” 343’s solution to their “mistakes” now? I’m sorry, but I can write way better and much more consistent fanfiction than this, and I’ve been doing that for years now. And as a side note, the Harbinger looks more like a mix of the Khan Maykr from DOOM Eternal and the Witch-Bride of Achriman from Serious Sam 3.

Overall, the only good thing about Infinite’s campaign is the gameplay, and that’s it. Nothing else. But everything else is just so subpar - mediocre at best and just flat out abysmal at worst. And please DO NOT even get me started on the multiplayer either!

I know this might not go well with everyone, and it won’t, but I have to say this: the franchise needs a complete reboot, and preferably not with Chief as the main character because otherwise the franchise will be even more stale than it already is. Fred-104 for Halo main protagonist please?!

Fernando, the pilot a walking downer? Alright… I dont know if you have wife, kids, want to go home, been in war etc.
But. Lets have you NEVER see family and kids again, getting yourself tortured, restless, fatigued by stress and such.
Lets see you being a tough guy!

Besides THAT, he is meant to be a character to relate to, not only those new and unfamiliar to the Halo Franchise but also one to give a perspective from someone else than a battle hardened veteran super soldier.

i am not even going to replay this garbage for the 2 skulls ive missed in the campaign for the 100% unless there is a level replay option.

Worse than your tag, doubt it. One of the best campaigns in series history. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

I’m not going to say it’s the best in the series, 2, 4, and ODST are still my top 3 favorite campaigns, but to claim it’s the worst? Did you play Halo 5’s campaign? Did you play Halo Reach’s campaign? I’d put Infinite’s campaign at above average. It was weighed down by having to recover from Halo 5’s story failings. I think they did probably the best they could to try and wrap up the poorly done Evil Cortana and her Guardians storyline and give us Not The Covenant to return to enemies and gameplay that most Halo fans love and have missed since Reach.

I agree with most of what you just said.

Tho… its not the worst but sure one of the most boring ones to me. Poorly executed idea imo. Open world its boring and hella repetitive. The enemiey variety is just lacking compared to previous games. Even in legendary the average banished are so easy and boring, except for those tanky fek bosses that cheese OHKO you. They are annoying, they are hard because but they kill you with two shots and your bullets do nothing unless you fully unload a weapon on them. Or if you cheese kill them with the abuse of the environment…

Also I really despise how the game loading and checkpoints works, in infinite, I miss being able to reload a checkpoint and continue my game exactly on the spot i left it. There were moments when I had a brand new vehicle with me in a very specific point where i felt i needed it, just to see it was gone when i decided to continue the save only because the game spawns me in a set area rather than where i left it. Same with the bases, my ghost disappearing after claiming it. It feels like everything was designed around the boring open world and i really dont like it.

Im not really expecting a detailed story halo games anymore, but i do love when campaigns have epic moments, with amazing vehicle fights with some epic music on the background. Infinites whole campaign lacks the epicity the previous games had within its levels. I love seen new environments that are all part of the same ring but halo infinite its locked to a single boring biome. Halo 4 campaign was barely decent, and Halo 5 story was utter trash, but both of those games had some campaign arcs that at least felt epic when playing them.

So HI is not bad, but rather disappointing, I was really expecting way more than what we got, specially because we waited 6 years for a new adventure. Def not “the best campaign ever” as all those paid youtubers were saying. It honestly feels like they used Halo CE second mission and expanded it to an 8 hours gameplay rather than a full “halo” campaign with different environments, fights and events.

Nah man I have to disagree with you and I think the majority of Halo fans do too. This campaign has some good stuff in it and fixes a lot of issues 343 made in the beginning. I do agree that more needs to be done with the lore of the ring and I though going towards this “endless” people instead of flood and precursors was a bit of a mistake. Keeping fans in mystery of who and what’s going on is not a guaranteed good story. Just use the depth that’s already there. Chief hasn’t discovered the Palace of Pane has he? He doesn’t know the flood are on the ring does he? He doesn’t know the Primordial was here and that MENDICANT BIAS IS ALSO HERE HELLO. That needs to be used and if its not, 343 made the biggest mistake of their lives. But don’t get me wrong, the campaign we got so far did wonders for the characters we have.

Yeah the open world took away from the variety Halo was known for. All the biomes were explored and now you are just playing one mission the whole time it seems. The expansions better make different parts of the ring and maybe a return to the Ark

Bro… You last posted back when Halo 4 came out… Crazy stuff.

I kinda just want to ask you what you think about Infinite honestly.

Almost this entire OP is utter nonsense. Who wanted a direct continuation of Halo 5’s awful storyline (rated by the vast majority of fans as the worst storyline of all Halo games)? The open world design is among the best I have ever seen. Echo 216 is fantastic, one of the best game characters of the year. The Weapon is cute as heck. The Endless don’t seem to be precursors but something else. The ring did a hyperspace jump outside the Galaxy after the Infinity survivors landed on it which is why Blue Team, Arbiter, etc. aren’t present. The campaign only has 1 biome because it takes place only on the destroyed section of the ring, we will get more biomes when the campaign expansions start releasing.

Nah I imagine it’ll just be the promethians all over again

the biggest complaint I have is how fractured Halo 4-Inifinite has been, I like books/comics as much as the next guy but to make it required to even understand half of what goes down is really annoying, it really feels like they are playing into the youtube demographic now with the EVENTS BETWEEN HALO 5 AND INFINITE EXPLAINED type stuff

I agree with so many points especially the lack of returning characters. Come on, I was extremely disappointed there was no Arby and even Lasky doesn’t make an appearance, he’s just there through audio logs. Also, I don’t really like how they’re trying to make the new Xalanyn scarier than the flood. The flood will always be the Halo series’ horror aspect.

I have not completed it yet but I am enjoying it much more than whatever abomination H5 was. I have a few complaints though. I had so much trouble defeating Chak Lok. Like seriously, what was that fight? I eventually defeated him but Jesus…

And also, the controls for the Scorpion are absolutely horrendous. Why couldn’t they just keep it like all the other Halos? I can hardly move anywhere with it.

I don’t agree that Halo 5’s campaign is better, but what the?

What in the campaign screams “listening to old fans”?

  • Story (what little is there is) is laughably bad, convoluted and, AGAIN, you are telling instead of SHOWING.

I was ok with the story. I thought it could have been better, and I agree 100% with you it would have been great to actually be there playing through the Created conflict.

…But then people would complain that Prometheans still exist in the game. And I think it was done the way it was using Escharem as the antagonist to highlght the story of the weary soldier. Let’s not forget, this is a campaign, but it’s the campaign at the start of a long-life Halo entry. I can’t help but think there will be future campaign content.

  • Echo 216 is a walking downer. How did we go from characters like Johnson, Keys, Buck, Locke, Lasky to… this?

I really liked “Pilot”. He is actually braver than most humans in modern times, helping fly vehicles into the FOBs for an uphill war for Chief. He survives multiple close calls. And seems to actually enjoy his new role after some time.

  • Why does Fauxtana (aka “The Weapon”) always have “derp” face? Even real Cortana looks a bit derpy. Halo 5 looks so much more professional in so many ways.

I like her derp face. It’s endearing.

  • Why does this Halo ring have only ONE biome?

It is only a few continents/islands on the ring. Yes, we probably could have stood more variety, but it’s fine. And you’re wrong, the second biome is dark, blue corridor stages.

  • Why did you set this game on a ring that is brimming with lore and do NOTHING with it?

Because there is likely more to come.

  • Are the “Xalanyn” (lol really?) the Precursers? If so… why? Why aren’t they “dust” like the rest? Did you retcon the Precursors out because “Flood” characters will give the game a “M” rating? What the hell is going on?!

No idea. I feel like we are certainly due to see Flood again, and finding out more about the Endless and the Precursora both would be nice.

  • So no real conclusion to the “Reclimation saga”, now some Disney Star Wars looking alien is all about the “Reformation”? Please tell me you didn’t pay the writing staff.

I think part of the saga was about Chief and Cortana. And at least that story gets some kind of resolution. But once again, I think we’re far from done. The game ends with pretty clear indication that at least two threats still exist.

  • How are The Banished more capable than Cortana and her Guardians?

I don’t think they are, but Weapon was used in the convoluted trap plot. That seems to be a big part of why she was defeated, not so much the Banished.

  • Wheres the Spirit of Fire? Wheres Blue Team? Where Osiris? Wheres Arbi?

Blue Team was mentioned in one of the audio logs. They are apparently alive and were instructed to do something? I think we could get answers to a lot of these things eventually.

  • No coop, no forge, no replaying campaign missions.

You can replay the campaign missions. Granted, I guess this one doesn’t lend itself to playthroughs in quite the same way as the other games, but there areachievements and things for the completionists. I wonder if maybe there is a story/update reason as to why there is no co-op.

From a practical standpoint…who else could Chief go through that campaign with other than a clone of himself? Maybe the co-op is an alternate telling of the story where Arby shows up, of you play as your Spartan or something.

Forge typically always comes later.

  • Took the premise of an explorable Halo ring and just did a copy/paste Far Cry knockoff. With copy/paste Forerunner interiors. What were you doing for SIX YEARS?

I can’t really argue, there were copy-pasted areas. Still, we don’t have a good idea of the full scope of this game as more features and modes will roll out eventually.

  • Time travel. FFS you guys are just out of ideas aren’t you?

Time travel? Did I miss something?

  • The gameplay is good.

I enjoyed it.

At the point of Halo 4, Didact was meant to be the trilogy’s antagonist. That changed at some point and we got the created, which came from nowhere.
Just like this new storyline comes from nowhere.

The ending of the “created” storyline is half there with the ending of Cortana. Then there’s half a beginning of the next storyline on top of it.
Hurried, is the only description I can think of.
There’s a hurry to get the old stuff out and smack something new in, with little concern on how either of the two function in that environment.

I don’t feel like Halo 5’s storyline got an even decent ending, and that this new thing got a good start.

After defeating the Harbinger and jumping through the portal / teleporter, you end up coming back three days later, but for Chief and Weapon, three days didn’t pass for them real time.
