Infinite HUD

During the gameplay demo we saw the new HUD, and it was disappointing as instead of honoring Halo’s legacy with the traditional HUD with weapons and ammo top right while grenades inhabit top left we saw a generic bland COD style HUD with everything slumped into the bottom corners. Why would 343 change something so basic yet still integral to Halo’s identity?

I don’t know, maybe because they Chan****ge the HUD every game?

No they haven’t, the weapons have always been top right and grenades top left

Halo 3 ODST

A spinoff without a mainline MP component, my point still stands.

I’m perfectly fine with the HUD. It’s actually my favorite so far in the series. I don’t want them to keep every single piece of the game like CE or 3. It gets repetitive. I’m loving the new designs they’re putting in infinite.

It’s a stupid and confusing change, the equipment and grenades are thrown together, and the ammo counter is directly on top of the actual ammo counter on, for example, the assault rifle. The Halo HUD has changed in pieces between games, but the ammo counter has stayed consistent and makes sense given that Halo always tended to have you looking at the upper portion of the screen, hence the lowered crosshair. It just feels like a natural spot for the ammo to go.

At the very least I’d like to have a customizable HUD

But why does this matter? Halo’s legacy is not in its HUD design. It is in its gameplay and story. 343 would do this as it allows to to more. Looking at a infinite HUD I can see much more than a Halo 3 HUD

Every element of Halo should be preserved, Halo was unique in it’s HUD that let it stand out amongst the crowd. How does this allow 343 to do more?

But atleast better than halo 2 shield indicator lol.
Yes, an idea that solves everything. Customizable hud-boom, done.

Wait no this is just being blown far out of proportion. This is a simple change that allows you to see more, not some major change that makes the game bad or something. This has almost no effect on anything

How does it let you see more, it can be the same size if it needs to be meanwhile CE-3 never had any issue with HUD clutter.

H3 had those visor line which were a pain in the corners and CE and 2 had solid icons that are much larger and in the way

Yet no one complained of clutter…where is the issue? you shouldn’t be looking at people through the corners anyhow since you can just turn your head to the entity in question

No one complained but no one cared did they? You can still see more and that is actually not debatable.

I wasn’t arguing you can’t see more, I was arguing it makes no sense to change something for the sake of change when there is zero reason or want from the community to.

But is it a bad thing or is it just a thing that happened?

I consider it a bad thing

They should have the hud change based on your helmet imo.

Regarding your issue, it makes sense that with the Gen 3 updates on MKVI came a Hud update. It’s like wondering why the dash of a JK and the dash of a JL are different.

Why? That just seems closed minded?
