Infinite had a flawed execution and 343 won't admit it

343, I think a lot of fans will agree with me… that most didn’t want a F2P Halo. Because of what a F2P game often brings. You overreached on what you wanted to do with both the campaign (as good as it was imo) and the MP. You overreached to what you could’ve gotten done had you delayed it a second time. Because now you don’t even have a date for a roadmap to give us which is disappointing.

Just have the courage to admit to your fans that you weren’t prepared to do a live service game. That the management shakeup in Infinite’s development crippled both the polish of the campaign launching with complete features as well as the MP being complete also. You were transparent with your fans during the games development and the INSIDER flight’s. But now you are radio silent, and where did that transparency go?

The team needs a serious overhaul and serious help. Fixes need to be communicated more frequently even if it’s not concrete. You have countless reminders of what fans are wanting fixed every time you tweet, so why are you not communicating that you are indeed working on it? Silence isn’t what the community needs. Transparency is what needs to be happening. Admitting you messed up and are committed to making Infinite what it was meant to be, or at least something to that regard.

Because let’s be completely honest here, the 343 that ported Halo MCC to PC is not the same 343 that developed infinite. The team might be but the energy sure as hell ain’t there.

It really feels like the devs (not management which are the ones who are mainly to blame) that made the content for the game we’re making things for a completely different product model, but someone in management either at 343 or Microsoft (I think 343 management) at the last minute changed gears so they could cash in on the F2P model which is why I think so much of this game doesn’t feel complete, at least that’s my hunch on partially what happened.

I’m honestly shocked, but at the same time not really, that there hasn’t been a statement from someone at 343 saying that they’re sorry for the state of the game on how it launched or even at the very least give something to the players for putting up with BTB being busted for 2 months (I still have issues personally with the mode randomly kicking me for no reason and really bad ping).

With the MCC launch 343 gave the ODST expansion free to players who played at launch as a sorry gift. Gears 5 gave a cool swarm skin to players for that games bad launch. Now with Infinite we technically have a playable game, but almost a debatably worse launch than both of those games (for different reasons) and we hardly get anything whether it’s a compensation gift or even s statement that they screwed up.

It would go a long way with fans if they just acknowledged this and just flat out say “We screwed up and we really want to earn the player bases respect back and we have a bit of a plan on how to fix the game and it is…so on and so on…” rather than just continuous cases of them playing dumb like them saying “We don’t like the xp/challenge swap system and never did” well then why did you do it if you didn’t like it? Oh right, you may not like it but you like the money it brings.

I know they’re trying to get a roadmap out but who knows when we’ll get that at this point.

They’re basically acting like they never even released a game.

Somebody needs to disable the snooze button.

I don’t think they had enough money left for a marketing department.

You could tell there was no hope or pride in the game with the way they just slipped it out.

Or or or. They did this intentionally. Giving you the least amount possible

“Flawed execution” is generous. Infinite has been a disaster and would already be dead if not for the other big FPS’s also being disasters. If Glassdoor reviews are anything to go by, management was doing anything but managing. We know that they like burn through contract (ie temps basically) workers because we can’t have a multi-billion dollar company giving out benefits or keeping skilled workers on who built the tech and know what they’re doing.

There are other factors you can’t talk about on here because Xbox is not a free speech platform “The Didact (Phil) made it sound like an imperial piece: Step out of line and suffer:joy: when giant corporations think they’re the good guys. Lets just say MS/343 value other “qualities” over talent. The quality of Infinite bears that out imo.

The management come clean? Lol, no, those type of people will double down on failure before admitting they were wrong. At this rate I’d bet they’re looking at numbers and trying to decide what, if anything, to support over “10 years” or to try and do a Halo Infinite 2 instead.

Its a numbers game now like Anthem before it, they’re going to have to decide whether or not its worthwhile to keep investing in a (currently) nearly-dead game. Should be interesting.

I keep saying stuff like this but people just keep saying I’m negative and what not. Which is funny so many people are praising this game yet it is still in shambles IMO. For a $60 game and a $10 BP they sure didn’t give us much more than a quick loose campaign and a flash for cash meager MP.
343 really needs to know that the commited fan base is not happy, even though most of the trend kids are blowing praise up 343s skirt.
Half a decade into ONE games’ development and this is how it released?! Not like 343 had anything else to focus on…

Funny you bring up Anthem because honestly, the analogy is a similar situation. Anthem was supposed to be a completely different game according to Bioware, but EA just said, whatever your going to do, do it and release it. Thus we got Anthem in the state it launched in. I honstly don’t think 343 was prepared whatever happened during that management shakeup, one wanted F2P, the other one didn’t and the one that didn’t said hell with it and left. I haven’t really read the Glassdoor reviews, don’t care to either. But I just have that feeling during that shakeup with management. There was a lot of quitting, or something worse internally that the community doesn’t know about. Thats why I compared MCC’s PC port to Infinites. They were pretty transparant during MCC’s seasons, and overally the response to MCC still I think is far more positive than Infinites. It’s like, where the hell is that energy that 343 put into MCC, where is it with Infinite? It’s like 343 knows they effed up with Infinite, and have either lost the energy or passion for the game or both. Like saying your going to have a roadmap, but after rectracting that statement with a we’re having difficulties with that too, like what?

Like 343 had a good rep with MCC’s PC port, but burned it all with Infinite.

Honestly if 343 said we are deeply sorry for the state of the game and how poor it is in the current state, I’d personally feel better about it. But the dev’s kinda just do the bare min when it comes to comms.

MCC got a little bit more slack, I think, because its still uncommon to get 4 games across generations and engine iterations to function as one, complete game. It’s still impressive actually. Plus most are beloved by the community already.

You’ll notice that all of the upper management that’s been around in every 343 screw up, is still there. They’re practically un-fireable. Rumors have it they planned to have a explorable ring, but were also constrained by an engine toolset so bad that they toyed with using UE4 (imagine what could have been lol)

Maybe it was artists/developers butting heads with corporate. One wanting a great game and the other wanting a cash machine and when corporate puts their foot down, people walk. It genuinely boggles the mind to see any studio so aimless and lost.

The more I think about it, the more Infinite makes no sense whatsoever. I have theories, but that’s all they are. Something catastrophic must have happened behind the scenes and corporate just pushed it out the door, ready or not. It’s all very Anthem-ish.

They could easily just give away the pre-order exclusive content considering many codes were bugged and the walmart pre-orders never received their items. Just give it to everyone and hit two birds with one stone.
