- Amazing maps. Felt balanced, unique, and just complex enough
- New weapons are quite good and fill unique spots in sandbox
- Scale and movement speed feel significantly more reasonable than H5 (though I do enjoy 5 quite a bit)
- Equipment generally feels really good to use, and the threat sensor and grapple in particular can lead to some very fun map interactions
- Grenades feel meaty and effective
- Sound design generally really good
- Xbox One gameplay did not feel well optimized. Frequent lagging, frame drops, and unresponsive/ overresponsive turning made aiming exceedingly difficult. Possible internet had a role to play, but unlikely
- Damage output of many weapons in-game felt off. Bulldog taking four shots at close range meant melee was more efficient, Heatwave never felt impactful (despite being really cool), Ravager secondary fire did little damage and took way too long to recharge (once again, despite being really cool), Commando had unbelievable recoil, Skewer impossible to ADS and actually hit target.
- Spartan chatter and AI combined was an overwhelming amount of unnecessary noise. Would prefer to cut almost all Spartan and AI chatter for more announcer feedback- multiple overlapping voices made intel difficult to understand
- Controller layout feels unintuitive compared to H4 and H5. Would prefer a H4 default similar to in MCC
- Menu layout looks good but feels sloppy to maneuver when compared to H5
- Clamber was not reliable
- Frequently dropped my gun when trying to switch grenades. Should have to hold down input button to drop
TL;DR- I enjoyed a lot of what Infinite had to show, but it was countered by unresponsive and unintuitive Xbox One gameplay. While I will be getting Infinite, I do not plan on playing it on Xbox and will instead play it on PC, where it seems to be more optimized. I also feel that my personal experience will be made or broken by the campaign and forge modes, as between this and Splitgate, Splitgate is the more polished and purely fun multiplayer experience to me.
