Firefight/Warzone has become a beloved addition to the Halo experience, and I actually can not wait to see what we get with Infinite’s iteration. One thing is certain though: I simple Horde Mode does not cut it anymore in 2021/22.
What I would love to see for firefight is:
some sort of permanent progression
customizable waves, enemies, loadouts
unique maps that are not just ripped out of SP
maybe objectives or lore-friendly “story/reason”
(controversial) light base building mechanics
events integration like Halloween or Christmas
What do you guys want to see? Let’s put together a wishlist for 343.
Firefight that switches maps after each set would be my biggest request, with the game ending once you’ve cleared every map. A tour de force, if you will.

I like the idea if backed up with a little story. Something similar to Battlefield 1’s Operations would be a great fit for Firefight.

Minimal story incorporation is fine, and probably a given seeing as how our MP Spartans are more involved with canon then ever. I just don’t want a repeat of Spartan Ops, with the same generic, repetitive missions/locations/encounters etc. in a lot of the missions.

Absolutely, Firefight needs to be part of progression, hopefully even have its own little system on top. I am thinking of maybe collecting cards through gameplay, building your deck with perks, buffs, and debuffs like in Back 4 Blood to increase replayability. Something to give the sense of gain even after the 100th firefight set has been crushed.
Events would really help to keep things fresh and relevant. If things are properly integrated into the lore, many possibilities open up to appease both casuals, pros, and lore scholars. Emile-A239’s helmet would be perfect for Halloween for example, as would be the Flood. Other IRL events would make a fine addition too. Keeping things fresh will be important to keep the F2P crowd coming back.
I want a mix between warzone firefight and classic firefight. Some rounds you have to survive the waves of the enemy and some rounds with mission goals. With customizable loadouts and weapons like Warzone. A lot like Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer. I love the multiplayer in that game. Could spend hours playing it. And Gears of War 5 fortification is great too.
I would love to have Customizable Firefight, Invasion, and so on.
But 343i focus for launch is battle passes, bots, and academy. With a “10 year” free-to-pay business model we may see some of what we want but a doubt it all will make it.
I think firefight will be included or added later on but if its at launch I think it will be nothing spectacular. I think it would be more akin to the original ODST firefight than halo Reach or 5.
I just finished my first actual game of Halo 3: ODST Firefight, and now I want it to return in Infinite, for sure.

Great ideas, but base building is too far outside the normal mechanics.
