The following is my feedback based on the experiences of the previous 2 flight weekends. For the most part I found playing very enjoyable and am very excited for the game to come out. I do have some things that I feel should be fixed do I’ll break down my thoughts into sections.
Menus and settings:
- A lot of times some settings would reset after I turn the game off. Specifically the wind trails for running would always come back on after i turn them off.
- When I would sort through the training settings the menu would flash every time I went down to the next one. It was quite annoying. Also for training it would never keep my set equipment. I would re-add it every time.
Battlepass Progression:
- The only daily challenge there ever was was to complete “x” amount of games. Just have there be experience for completing a match and the make daily challenges other things.
- More than once weekly challenges would not count the things I did in matches
Customization:
- While the flight was limited in things, I do like the amount of customization you can do to your spartan. That being said…
- Armor coatings are awful. Having to unlock color options is dumb. If we could unlock different patterns for the armor would be fine, but then let us choose what color to make it. Even in the flight there were coatings with and interesting pattern but with ugly choice of colors.
Maps and Physics:
- I enjoyed all the maps. So far there hasnt been one I dislike. They are all different and fun.
- I love the BTB map Fragmentation. All the inclusions of the loot caves and Pelican drops make the game fun. However there needs to be more variations in vehicles dropped. 90% of the games were just Warthogs or Ghosts. I rarely saw the air vehicles and only saw the Scorpion twice in the whole weekend. And those only came in the last 2 minutes of the match.
- Physics need to be a little better. Items dont go flying around when a grenade goes off or when hit by the hammer.
- Bring back player collision and friendly fire. Its weird to have allies move through you. It also helps people play smarted and be careful with grenades and power items.
Vehicles:
- Ghost: Super fun to drive. Fast, smooth, damage feels right. I would make the self destruct noise more noticeable. This goes for all the vehicles. There were many times it would just blow up and I didnt realize why.
- Warthog: Drives well, turret damage is good but I’d make the reticle bigger. Too much health. That thing can take 2 rocket hits and be fine.
- Mongoose: Feels fine.
- Scorpion: Never got the chance to drive.
-Wasp: Flies well, weapons felt like they did good damage. Too little health. You can fly for like a minute before your already on fire.
-Banshee: The banshee felt pretty bad. Flying felt janky, the weapons were weak, and it had no health. A fresh Banshee exploded from tapping against a tree.
Weapons:
- Assault Rifle: Amazing. Its refreshing to have a good AR.
- Sidekick: Feels great. Not overpowered like the Halo 5 pistol and not completely useless like Halo 2 and 3.
- Pulse Rifle: Good damage, doesnt feel like it always tracks correctly.
- Battle Rifle: Perfect
- Commando: The auto fire feels weird but it works great if you just do it single burst. I would just get rid of the auto mode and just have it fire as fast as the trigger is pulled.
- Plasma Pistol. Worthless now that it doesn’t EMP vehicles. You can still noob combo but even that doesnt feel worth it. If your getting rid of the EMP effect at least make the shots do more damage to make it worth picking up.
-Bulldog. Fires fast but feels weak. Doesnt do a 1 hit kill at point blank range. Unless there is stronger shotgun also in the game this needs to do more damage.
-Heatwave: Love this one. Very satisfying.
-Needler: Perfect. My go to gun. I would say that the sound for the super combine could be a little better. - Ravager: The standard burst shot is great. The fire from the charged shot needs to deal more damage. It feels like it does nothing.
-Shock Rifle: Feels clunky. Cant always tell if you get a hit. Its too slow and only shoots 4 times before reloading. Doesnt feel right.
-Skewer. Hard to aim. Two levels of zoom feels weird. Needs to be more force and ragdoll when a Spartan gets hit.
Sniper: I’m bad with the sniper so I cant give it a fair review. - Rocket Launcher: Feels a little weak. Radius needs to be increased. Ghosts and Warthogs can take 2 direct hits from it and be fine.
- Gravity Hammer: Terrible. Swinging is too slow. Hits don’t always register. No kickback and it doesn’t send objects and bodies flying. Needs much fixing.
-Grenades: All the grenades feel fine.
