I think this is sort of a vague issue, but the mechanics of aiming and getting in a firefight on M&K feel very unnatural and frustrating. It just doesn’t feel good. I know the typical response to that is “well you just suck at the game”, which I do believe is probably a valid criticism in many cases. But from what I have heard from my pears (they agree with me that the aiming mechanics feel off) and my performance as a gamer on other games, MCC included, I would disagree with said assumption. I can’t say as to exactly why this game feels wrong, perhaps it is just latency, poor net code, or poor performance / high latency on my given hardware, though I run a usually adequate system, ryzen 5 3600, rx 580 rog strix 8gb, but something is certainly serving as an issue.
I played with the mouse magnetism on and off. I found personally it seems to cause me issues in close range battles as it would sort of confuse my muscle memory. This could perhaps be remedied by simply adjusting to it, but I think I personally would prefer not to. At longer ranges however, it could likely be more helpful. For me, the largest reason I would use it is if it were to give a gain in performance great enough to level the playing field against controller players. I realize this is a controversial topic, but I am under the impression, at least on MCCs halo 3 and (due to bloom characteristics specifically) halo reach that controller has a quite unfair advantage, especially at range. Controller players simply have a higher hit rate than M&K. Sure, its mostly anecdotal for me, but I feel I have played enough to come to a clear consensus that an overwhelming average of situations I find controller players being capable of more consistently laying down damage. For example, on halo 3 at ranges longer than what I would describe as 40 meters, I feel like I am shooting nerf darts out of my BR.
Anyway, I digress, Infinite feels off and I have to say were it to remain the way it is, I likely won’t be playing it very often. I personally just found it frustrating. Again, I am not really sure of the reasoning behind this opinion, but many of my friends feel the same way, something is just wrong. Maybe it will be fixed by performance optimizations both with respect to net code and or hardware, but if it doesn’t, if there is something else at play here, I would highly recommend it be sought out and fixed.
