I very likely will be updating this list with more items I think of, or of things you all mention that I feel are worth throwing in the OP, but I’m trying to think of things that could be added to Infinite. This list is different than most, where people discuss specific aesthetic looks or gameplay decisions or story directions. This list will have little to do with the actual gameplay, but will (IMO) add a very polished and thought-out experience.
customizable with unlocked items (cosmetic & functional)
Company War Simulator
AI spawns & routing from spawns to typical high-pressure areas (Sim leader can toggle spawn & route start/stop)
weapon, vehicle, and power-up spawns & timers
map tagging
Let me know what you guys think of this list. I can elaborate on what’s meant by anything here if needed. If you have any other “extra” ideas or how to better implement things I have listed, feel free to speak up! I’m just going to reiterate, this list is not about main gameplay. This is about other features that otherwise might enhance gameplay or immersion. The only exception I have listed might be the simulator and map tagging features.
Note: several of these items have more of an RPG type of feel. Rumors suggest that Infinite might be taking more of this approach, which is why I’ve included these here. If those rumors end up being false, or if you’re not a fan of Infinite implementing RPG elements, it goes without saying that some of these points above either aren’t accurate or aren’t to your liking.
Insted of sprint creating a “move or shoot” tradeof, i propose a version of sprint that creates a “speed vs. agility” tradeof:
sprint doesn’t lower your weapon
sprint reduces lateral k´movement acceleration and aiming speed ( similar to ghost boost)
if you fire your weapon you drop out of sprint (you can reenter at any time)
if you stop sprinting you have residual momentum and need a few steps to slow down to normal aim/movement/ lateral speed ( this removes stoping sprint for an instant to zip around corners)
this version of sprint eliminates the problems with sprinting in halo and gives it a realistic sense of momentum ( because you need a few steps to slow down and can only make bigger turns). sprinting would mostly only be usefull in open uncontested map areas and not in firefights or indoors.
clamber should give the same jump hight advantage as crouch jumping. crouch jumping and clambering should stack. this way skilled players could more often substitute clambers with crouch jumps and the vertical stretching is reduced.
spartan charge can be removed. sprint melee could create knockback and give both players a little damage (plus the normal melee damage). this creates a risk/reward system.
hover needs to reduce your lateral momentum, so the jump distance benefit is reduced. a carefully timed hover may still give extra jump height.
slide can stay in
hitting a certain falling velocity should create the same effect as sprinting concerning melee momentum.thrusters can stay in. they create only little residual momentum. crouch-jump + thrust creates a downward thrust.
sprint and thrust would use the same button. holding thi button and pushing the movement ministick forward starts sprinting/running (similar to a plasma pistol overcharge)
the one button that is now free can be used foor equipement:
this equipement behaves like halo 3 equipement, but can hold multiple charges and has a cooldown timer between uses. this way it can be used like armor abilities.
The equipement can be balanced by giving it different numbers of uses. this could even balace armor lock or power drain.
Because the equipement is placed on maps (except for custom games or certain gametypes) maps don’t need to be designed around its use.
the option to create multiple loadouts should stay for custom games and a few gametypes.

These are some pretty nice and thought out options. I like how you’ve considered what moveset and abilities we’ve most recently been left with in H5, while also trying to more accurately respect the legacy of typical Halo movesets (and equipment).
Your list is more centered around gameplay mechanics, which I’m sure many people have discussed to great length and debate across these and other forums. I appreciate your comment, but I’m actively trying to steer clear of the discussion of game mechanics, and attempting to only discuss items that are more centered around the smaller items such as UI and menus, Spartan & Spartan Company maintenance, out-of-game rewards, lore ties, etc.
If sprint dosnt lower your weapon, i think it would be odd on looks alone, therefore it should be a upgrade or pick up. It shouldnt be something everyone has access to right off the bat. Or maybe we could have no sprint and just a faster walking speed.
What would your spartan do while your offline? Work out? Look at diferent fighting strategies/tactics ?

Yeah, something like that. For the Spartan Quarters, they could just be resting or armor/weapon maintenance, reading, etc. For the Company Quarters, it could have the same stuff and also be opened up a bit more to looking at the Company message boards/stats, going into the War Room to watch the Fireteam viewer, etc. Just something to give the Company a living, breathing feel even if people aren’t online. This really is another of those RPG elements that may not have a need to exist, but would be awesome to see.
Side idea, if there is an app/site to access some of the same things (Map tagging, Company message boards, etc), it would be really awesome to have your in-game Spartan walk to those areas as if the Spartan was there, all while you were doing it on Waypoint or on an app. So you could be in the Company Quarters and see changes happen in real time, instead of them just magically appearing.

Ok, good to know
company fileshare
large fileshare space
fileshare search by name
armory positioning for custom games ( so you can select spawnpoints or capture spawnpoints in btb, invasion, infection or a swbf-II-OG gamettype)
repawn zones conected to armories in forge
option to force team colors and armor sets for custom games (maybe also species, if this is enabled)
team specific juggernauts for custom games ( every team can have a juggernaut, or three teams need to fight over two juggernaut positions)

I like the idea, but im afarid how the comunity will react. Becuase while the idea makes sense, may didnt like the banter of halo 5s spartans. Or how spartans have more of a vibriant personalty to them now. I wonder what they will do or say when a spartan is more of a person than a weapon.

the weapon would bob a little and would be pulled slightly closer to the spartan. similar to halo onlines sprint animation. the sprint i propose i geared to create realistic map traversal and “adaptive scaling” -> empty areas are faster to traverse, vehicles and man canons are preferable if reachable. it could create interesting cover gameplay too.
a faster bms is always welcomed
and a bigger FOV would be nice. this also creates the feeling of speed.

I’ve thought the same thing. Basically two things I think would help sell this/make this okay for those vocal ones opposed to what we’ve already gotten.
All main features/menus (Company features, gunsmith, etc) can be accessed via the main/sub menus. Players can also press a button to “board UNSC Infinity”, which is where they can go to the Quarters and such. I’ve really taken the concept of the Tower from Destiny and tried to scale it down to Halo while also ramping up its usefulness. - Spartans’ vocal tendencies (especially when Off-Duty) would be either customizable (0-5, with 5 being extremely vocal and 0 being silent), or you can just have them always be silent, and any voice communication would be made via players and their mics. I’m actually going to place in the OP list a new feature with both Spartan and Company Quarters to prompt a request to join in a party chat with the player(s) presently in the room.

This is what I had in mind for the Historia/Encyclopedia. There is an abundance of material that has been produced, between Terminals, Halo Mythos, etc. Being able to access nuggets of Halo facts is not only great for current lore fans, but I think would be a great way to help convert people who are intimidated or otherwise uninterested in the lore. Having the out-of-game (and previous game) facts archived in-game in an organized way would be a huge way to encourage further lore lovers (which theoretically would boost sales of things like books, comics, TV shows, and also boost hours spent in campaign).
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. A feature I would LOVE in the game is an idea I had for the UI in the armor selection. I think it’d be cool if your spartan were in one of the machines that attaches and detaches armor that we see in Halo 4. I think it’d just be cool aesthetically.
