Nothing. They had the solution to this problem figured out in MCC but somehow forgot it.

343’s memory of all prior experience is wiped clean with each Halo game they release.

There are no kb/m issues. Controllers are too good. Also none of those guys were going to play Halo for very long. They play whatever will get them views.

As I see it, there are 4 possible avenues:

  1. Continue going the way we’re going. Mouse and keyboard will essentially just die out on its own.

  2. Make Crossplay strictly optional between input types regardless of playlist. Perhaps the only truly fair solution for many, but comes with the added negative of potentially losing out on players who could be matched into lobbies otherwise. Mouse and keyboard likely still dies down to an incredibly niche few.

  3. Lessen sticky aim/rotational aim assist to the point that pure “left stick aiming” has to be supplemented with much more right stick input to properly track a target. Given the difficulty the casual playerbase already has securing kills at times, this is almost certainly never going to happen.

  4. Increase the hurtbox size of certain weapons for mouse and keyboard a tiny, tiny bit. This would not apply to weapons that thrive on “flick” style aiming like the Heatwave, S7 or Bulldog. Rather, this would only apply to weapons that need to be stringently tracked to have success. The BR, Commando, and Sentinel Beam immediately come to mind. Runs the risk of doing nothing. Also runs the risk of overtuning and making mouse and keyboard wildly dominant while also heavily compressing the skill gap for the input. But, if done properly, maybe the most ideal choice.

Good luck with that, you can’t have games that favor one side but in the Halo world it’s different… Halo fan boys will never let it be balanced for KBM. Even though this game is dying by 50% every month

As soon as they address some rather pressing issues that have been blowing up on just about every forum like site, I hope they then turn their attention to balancing out the m+kb players issues. While I may be a controller player and have no issues, I understand that m+kb may not be having as good an experience as I am. And of course I only wish for everyone to have fun on the game.

knm is not dominant. Its undrepowered you messed up the words in your title.

This doesn’t surprise me. As a massive Halo fan since the CE days, I played controller on every title up until PC MCC and now Infinite. Not sure exactly what the KBM issues are from a technical standpoint, but they do very much exist and severely diminish the game experience. It’s just not fun to play with that input. I chalked it up to they clearly have a controller and xbox first mindset when they made this game–which is completely fine. I will say though, it promptly led me to quit and deeply saddened me that as a KBM user Halo is basically a dead franchise to me now. It’s just a real shame because other titles under Microsoft don’t have as severe issues with KBM. I played Gears 5 on KBM with a similar background being 1-4 on controller. It was different, but I didn’t feel at a large disadvantage, and it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the game. I know these are two very different shooting games, but there has to be something said about that experience. By the time they make a change, if at all, surely most of the hype will have died down and most people will be playing something new.

In the flight the aim assist was different but due to controller player feedback not enjoying it then it was amended.
