Nothing against controller, I’m not asking for any nerf, they just have to address this issue so that also KBM is viable somehow in esports.
When the KBM streamers were playing: Myth, Summ1t, Xqc, Shourd, etc. this game was top of the charts any time of day. All stopped playing until they address the KBM issues.
Maybe a separate tournament or some extra bullet magnetism.
Unfortunately, the best answer right now (and probably the one you’re going to hear a lot in this post) is to buy a controller. I do agree that they should have spent more time balancing the two inputs so that one is not inherently better than the other, but they are such vastly different inputs that it is tough to do so. In most crossplay games, KBM is the dominant input and they absolutely smash anyone who dares to play with a controller. Since Halo is first and foremost an Xbox franchise, I’m glad they flipped that script and kept controller a viable option, but it shouldn’t be the only viable option if they also marketed this as a PC game. I certainly don’t want them to nerf the controller, so buffing the KBM ever so slightly is probably the best option at the moment. I’m not opposed to that at all.
Look how well Apex/Fortnite is doing with pro’s split on all inputs.
I just wanna see this game thrive, I would HATE it for KBM to be the dominant input, controller can still be the dominant one, but give us a chance to compete at least at a KBM only HCS tournament if you’re not willing to ballance it.
I’m not going in to the whole M&K vs controller debate again for the 1000th time (it’s very very very boring), but I would have to ask if implementing changes to make it viable specifically for eSports would really impact that much on the population playing on PC?
If you’d said for the benefit of the whole PC player population regardless of skill level then I could see that side of the argument, but does eSports or these select few streamers really have that much impact upon the general population?
For the record, I’m very well versed on the merits and influence of eSports but don’t know much about the PC gaming scene so I’m not saying that they don’t or wouldn’t…it’s a genuine question.
I’ll try it another way…if the request is for a separate M&K input based eSport tournaments (so they aren’t playing against controller) then why would changes need to be made as all PC players playing on M&K would be on the same level playing field?
Also my question about the influence of these streamers and eSports upon the general PC population still stands.
I would be more inclined to advocate separate tournaments and also full input based playlists (ie disable crossplay) so the M&K population can strive…and it would also put an end to these ongoing M&K vs controller debates.
There is absolutely no doubt about the validity of PC eSports and these players deserve as much a platform as their controller based counterparts…but there is a good reason why crossplay (in this case input based) has never been a thing in eSports for the simple fact that it’s not a balanced or level playing field. As such, M&K players should have their own input based playlists and eSports tournaments.
I still question whether or not this would resolve the declining population though particularly if the specific input based playlists aren’t implemented.
Well think about it like this, yea it might be too late to bring back the whole 95% kbm users that left, but for example yesterday the last MKB competitive team disbanded and won’t be playing in HCS qualifiers again. How long till those guys who were willing to stick around for years will also move on to a game in which KBM is viable?
If you ever expect to bring back the people that left or keep the competitive KBM players around you must give them a chance to feel relevant. Also the tv show is droping in march, how many new people will wanna try the game and how many people won’t stick around cause of the fact that KBM is underwhelming?
We’ll never know I guess, but adding some extra bullet magnetism is a 20 dollar fix to a 500 mil dollar game which might be enough. It won’t hurt, it’ll only help.
I feel bad for the KBM users. The only team that was full KBM separated after last night’s Anaheim qualifier and they were doomed from the start considering the KBM support on Xbox is nowhere close to where it needs to be (HCS is using Xboxes only on LAN because the custom games crash/switch teams too much on PC).
Pretty sure he is saying that most people in EU are pc M&K players and the game sucks for these players so they are quitting thus the game is now dead.
OR his english is a bit off and he is saying that they are dominated* not dominant.
