Infinite doesn’t have to look like a F2P game

I know it is, but it doesn’t have to, and it shouldn’t in my opinion.

When Halo Infinite released, one aspect that was widely praised was the game’s art direction and how it was more faithful to the way Halo looked.

As Halo Infinite’s seasons progressed however, more and more items were added to the game that don’t “butter” with Halo’s art style like flashy neon kill effects and wearable holograms on the Spartans. Add to that the overly busy HUD, the colored outlines and the cartoonish FX and it quickly starts to resemble something more like Valorant than Halo.

I just find it counterproductive (and a huge waste) that 343’s art team spent considerable time and effort into crafting a great visual design for Halo Infinite only to have it run down by the typical F2P store cosmetics.

Goofy items have always been in Halo, but they were few and far between, which made them genuinely funny and stand out. What we have in Halo Infinite is just sad and unworthy of Halo. There are so many cool ideas and designs for cosmetics that would totally fit the art style and not look like Fortnite’s leftover cosmetics that 343 repurposed for a quick buck.

Did you skip over the “stop complaining” thread? The game looks and plays like a AAA title.

I mean it looks like one graphically. I don’t know if I’d say it plays like one though. Ever since release I’ve never been able to shake the feeling while playing it that there’s something “cheap” about how it feels to control. Especially with the networking issues but also with physics and quirks.

This is more about the art design and I do at least agree that the new fracture armor coming next season does NOT look like the rest of Infinite.

And yeah, I also think there are way too many gimmick/joke cosmetics and would like to see those limited to only one or two per season. Especially since outside of fractures, and armor/kill effects we are supposed to consider it canon. Bungie’s joke/gimmick armor was very clearly trying not to be canon, Hayabusa being a crossove, EOB and armor effects, and Haunted actually having a skull where your head would be.

Eh if that was the case it play like a AAA title then why is there A. A ton of damn issues that still not being fixed like Heavy dsync in multiplayer? B. Can’t Access custom games or Forge in Offline mode? C. No Split screen in the campaign but only have splitscreen on multiplayer side? D. Lack of content that was core feature in nearly every halo like infection, fire fight etc? E. Lack of Customizations like all banish weapons and vehicles not being in the Weapon and vehicle hall to customize like how mcc did with Covenant Weapons and vehicles. F. No Playable elites which should have been in infinite to be honest for only custom game use. G. Vehicles are weak as hell. H. No assassations. ETC ETC

I did like the idea of infinite MP Being F2P until you know 343 not fixing all the stuff and them not really following the live service trend of having infinite Store not being flexible at all of when you have a item unlock and it part of the bundle to then prevent you from buying the rest. And if this tatanka mode being as A battle royale comes out in legit actual truth they shouid remove the whole multiplayer side and put that in the paid side. And have mode itself as a free to play game.

my good sir, thats most AAA titles nowadays. their games are just made just functional enough to run , but packaged with a store that’s loaded with items. Tho i say most, as I feel Sea of Theives falls under AAA

nowadays Indie games are more consumer friendly, like Deep Rock Galactic or Darktide

agreed. on paper, F2P sounds like an amazing idea. but in doing so, it gives 343 the “well we have to get money back somehow, so everything non-essential will have a price tag on it”. tho i would argue making Tatanka the only thing free would just harm the MP at this point. (tho i bet most of infinite’s player base would just move there anyways lol)

Agreed. They finally got closer to the original aesthetic and I was stoked, but I wont touch MP with a 20 foot pole with all the rabbit ears and cyber mohawks.

Well I mention the tatanka mode should be it own f2p as Cod done this method alot. Having it campaign and it full multiplayer side on paid scenario and there warzone Battle royale mode as F2P.

In the old days alot of game developers had made demos of their games so people would check them out to decided weather or not to buy their game or not. Yes Even Halo Combat Evolved had a game demo.

Here is proof

Halo Infinite could be considered a demo :grinning:

It does not look like a modern AAA game in the slightest. For one modern AAA releases have Ray Tracing.

It’s the least of this games worries but it’s graphics are not on par with equally high budget games on PC and PS5.

Though in the game’s defense. they had to incorporate the Xbox One’s decade old hardware? kind of a flimsy defense, since most games have to nowadays

Honestly I think the game shouldn’t have been F2P at all. To me it feels like 343 just looked at other games (Fortnite, Apex) and jumped into the live service bandwagon thinking it will surely make money or something, without putting care into other aspects first. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve conceived the live service idea and how to set up the store before everything else was even a concept on a drawing board.

Not everything needs to be a live service.

I wouldnt say it totally LOOKS like a F2P game but with no Player Collision and Desync issues, it currently plays like one… Hopefully things change in the near future!
