(XSX) Console aim assist feels nonexistent. Especially compared to PCs believe it or not. On console it just feels way too slippery MCC I barely miss head shots and thats due to the brilliant aim assist of previoud games. Infinite I cant find the sweet spot, Ive changed sensitivity and deadzones multiple times but my accuracy just isnt there. Im constantly slipping too far in one direction or another. Mean while on pc Im seeing people snap on to targets like classic aim assist. Please address this issue on console.
I think it takes time to get use to it. The old Halo games had a ton of aim assist (the games were meant for console when they came out). Infinite definitely does feel like the aim assist was toned down but it’s viable for sure. I think most people will get use to it with time.
From what I can tell, the most impactful change to the aiming from previous titles is severely reduced auto aim. Bullet magnetism still seems to be there, but not to the degree of other Halo titles. –
Using your movement joystick while aiming seems to be more important in Infinite than in previous titles from my first impressions. Hope this comment helps someone. –
My understanding of the term definitions I’m using
- Auto aim - the game will assist your aim slightly, by either by actively pulling the reticule towards the enemy player, or slowing your sensitivity down to keep the reticule on an enemy. - Bullet magnetism - when you have a red-reticule, bullets you fire get pulled towards the enemy player. This can slightly change the angle of a bullet’s path from your weapon to the enemy player, as the projectile angle is altered from hitting dead center of your crosshair, and instead angles towards the enemy player.<ul class=“post-actions-list”>
I don’t think it has to do with Aim assist. Maybe it does…It just seems in general controller inputs are just poorly optimized. Feels completely janky. I wanted to play on PC but got a XBOX invite so I’m forced to play controller. Its fine for now because its just a tech preview but they should really enable mouse and keyboard input on xbox.
One factor might be that the sidekick is balanced for close to medium range, and as a result, has a low red reticule range. If we take the BR, for example, the aiming feels fine (since it’s a medium range weapon), but since we start with the sidekick, that’s probably why gunfights, especially ones at long range can feel awkward.
Also, the reticules themselves seem to be on the smaller side this time around, so you have to use more manual aim anyway.

I agree. I think people will adjust and learn to play well with practice. Personally, I like how it is now
That’s because it is pretty much nonexistent. Halo infinite now seems to be more catered to pc then it is Xbox. Forced crossplay once halo infinite multiplayer comes out, and barely any aim assist for controllers. PC players now have bullet magnetism aswell which is unheard of in any game really. The aim assist in this tech preview for controller seems to be less than any other shooter I’ve played. I really hope they change it, it’s been proven that mouse and keyboard has a significant advantage over controller whether aim assist is enabled or not. Don’t know why they would they change the norm.
So as a 20 year halo player I’m really in the middle here.
I’ve been noticing a severe change to aim assist and I’m not sure if it needs to be increased or if I just need to get better.
HI is now a pc game rather than a console game. If the game continues to do like this,I will go back to play Mcc
After playing some more I feel like I am getting more adjusted to it
As a 80,000+ halo kills player, aim assist needs to go, no modern games have it and the community is way better now than it was back then. Time to grow up and get actual skills

With all due respect many of us here have 80,000+ kills across each title combined especially if you factor in people having multiple accounts. While I appreciate your valid opinion of not wanting aim assist, the pretentious and derogatory comment to those who dont share the same opinion is unnecessary.
I have gotten a little better with time, but nowhere near how easy it is to play fps games with mouse and keyboard

What a -Yoink- opinion games going free to play, this a chance for halo to go back to being mainstream. Halo could be the most popular game on Xbox, aim assist needs to be there for all the new players. Especially with cross play, you’re gonna have some PC elitists trying to drive off new players game play needs to be balanced and as of right now it’s not.

What are you talking about? All console fps games more or less have aim assist, some even have auto aim, and both.
Bungie created aim assist because fps games were considered by many unplayable on console at the time, it’s especially important to get it right if there is crossplay, remember that on a joystick it’s millimetres precision, while on mouse it’s centimetres. It’s a necessity to have a smooth experience.

With all due respect as well, It wasn’t pretentious. I was highlighting experience with the game. While I appreciate your opinion you’re assumptions have left you to post an incorrect statement about my post being pretentious, it also added nothing of value to the conversation, other than a public personal attack that could have been a private message. Thanks!
I suggest you start learning how to survive without aim assist, because 343 has confirmed its not coming back as strong.

Correction, I truly mean less aim assist. Not completely gone. It’s my opinion that halo has more aim assist than any game I’ve played in recent time.

Amen to that brother. Try telling a KB&M player that and they’ll have an aneurysm though.
For those that agree with I urge you to make your own posts about the aim assist issue. The more posts about it the more likely they are to tweak it.

I think it needs to be increased more, Ive played a lot of Siege on console which has no aim assist, but Halo is not Siege. Not to the levels of old Halos I agree, but more than this. In the current state a lot of people arent even going to have fun in campaign with how bad it is, and thats just terrible if they did it for the sake of the sweats.
