Do you think there will be an announcement about the Halo Infinite beta at The Game Awards on December 12?
Presumably there will be a beta at some point in early 2020 (if 343i wants it to occur early enough before release that it can meaningfully incorporate feedback into the final product) but we still haven’t heard anything about it.
For reference, the Halo 5 beta occurred in January 2015 but was announced in August 2014. The game released in October 2015.
If there isn’t any information at The Game Awards, I’m not sure when the next event occurs that would be suitable for the beta announcement. We know that E3 2020 is going to be “big” for Infinite, but that’s far too close to release to announce a beta.
What do ya’ll think?
I don’t think 343 is gonna make an appearance at the Game Awards. Not really the place for a Halo announcement.
But assuming the massive scope and vision of Infinite, they should realistically have a beta by March. Considering they’re gonna have multiple flights…any later than March is cutting it too close I think. Halo 5 had a beta almost a year prior launch.
Also it is worth noting Bonnie Ross said about avoiding Crunch im late development. She’s didn’t want the studio to build up massive undertakings close to launch date.
But for now Halo reach on PC/Xbox is gonna have the spotlight.

If 343 wants to hold the beta by March, what venue is available for 343 to announce it? There aren’t really any gaming conventions I’m aware of in January-February and I’d imagine that 343 wants decent limelight for the beta announcement.
I guess 343 could simply release an announcement video on Youtube but I’d be curious to compare Infinte beta participation with Halo 5’s if 343 goes that route.
I was also under the impression that the Halo MCC efforts on PC were being handled by an entirely separate team than the Infinite team.

I think the internet and gaming outlets can take care of publicity. Given the timeline, if I were 343 I wouldn’t be too worried about the absence of an event. MCC PC was announced in a live stream and a portion of the internet lost its -Yoink-. It’s safe to say word will spread pretty quick for an infinite beta. And remember it’s not just one beta. It’s a series of flights. And the first flight will only have a limited number of players.
Yeah there’s a separate team for MCC. What I meant was 343 won’t risk overshadowing Reach on PC by announcing an Infinite beta. They would want maximum attention on reach so it could sell on steam.
I feel like they won’t do it at the awards because XO19 was only a month earlier and they didn’t do it there, I think they’re gonna announce it on their own early next year, no event. Maybe via a stream.
I think it’s a lot to assume they intend to stage a beta early enough to incorporate “meaningful” or at least substantial changes based on player feedback. This is what they ought to do, certainly. But I’m not at all convinced it’s the intention. I think we’ll get a beta shortly after an E3 2020 announcement and that it’ll be primarily meant as a load test for the matchmaking infrastructure rather than a forum for constructive criticism. They may change a small handful of nitpicks from beta players in the roughly six months they’ll have before release, but I think that’ll unfortunately be the extent of it.
Lmfao hell no. Absolutely not. I’d be SO surprised if they did

Yeh think you might be right about that.
It’s kind of weird that they’ve left it far too late into the year for a proper ‘flight’ test since I don’t feel like there going to have enough time to make ‘big’ changes if there are concerns with the games design and will lead to further ‘crunchs’ unless there not going to do a proper test to help get Halo back on the right direction because if they don’t I’ll be concerned since doubt they’ll delay the game to 2021 even if people are unhappy with certain game design changes.
I was kind of expecting the tests to happen sometime early this month or late last month but nothing happened, I think dev’s don’t want to get too stuck into over-working so late to the holidays. If there going to do anything at the event then it’ll probably be a date for possible announcement or a small game-play teaser trailer for Halo Infinite running on the next Xbox to get people talking about it over the holidays to get people looking forward to 2020 with a reminder about E3 2020.

Yeah this doesn’t make sense for a 2020 release.
Buuuuut…there was rumor (from the same guy who predicted the title of halo infinite) that halo infinite is gonna have two launches. First for story and then later for multiplayer.

Really? I hope he gets that wrong… I can’t imagine a good reason to do something like that. With Reach coming to MCC, the split with MP and Campaign makes sense since it’s an old game being redone and re-released on a new platform. But for a brand new title, that would be kinda odd imo.

I’m pretty sure they denied the dual launch rumour a while ago. I couldn’t find a source, I think it was a tweet.
That rumour doesn’t even make sense anyway, since it is supposed to be a launch title with scarlet.

They did?
Regardless its not too far fetched though. Cyberpunk 2077 is having a staggered launch. 1st single player and then multiplayer, so it’s not completely unheard of. Infinite story could launch with scarlet maybe.?

Fair point. RDR2, GTA V, No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk all have done it so it’s not crazy unusual. But those are all single-player focused games.
Ill edit this comment if I find a source.
Edit: Found it, it was right here in this forum sections FAQ
Edit 2: Here’s the tweet. That was hard to find but I knew it was out there

Wow don’t know how I missed that.
But yeah…hope the beta/flights come early next year. Lack of info on anything is hard to take.

Here’s hoping we see some gameplay soon. It would be absolutely awesome if something does happen at The Game Awards but I reckon it will just be CEA on PC if anything at all.
I know it seems nearly impossible but I think it would be cool if when reach launches for mcc they could do a teaser for infinite. Like how they did a teaser for halo 5 when halo 2 anniversary can out, with a small cutscene before the campaign starts and after you finish it.

as much as i would love this i doubt it
Given the fact its not just a new Halo but also the killer launch title for the next Xbox I’d be surprised if we see anything before E3. Unless they pull another Forza Horizon and Fable IV out of their hats.
Let’s face it: MS needs a stellar launch for this next Xbox so showing the game on non-new Xbox consoles or well before we even know more about the final Xbox design etc is not going to happen. Just wait until E3 for some news.

With the flights and beta, I doubt we’ll have to wait until E3 to get anything. No way will 343 and MS wait that long

Well… Here me out! What if they did this:

And I cannot believe I remembered saying this in April! But I still feel it would be a fantastic way to announce it. Probably would not happen. But this way, we are hit with the sudden news and almost like a shock, we get over hyped. Imagine being at The Game Awards and a video with this comes up. Thinl about what in the world is going to go through your mind! It would be awesome!
