Infection what can be added

what the title said

They could add Alpha Zombies back. Infection is rather boring after a match or two anyway though. I think the best thing for it would to add it as one of the rotational playlists rather than a permanent one.

FYI:

> Hey all - I just wanted to jump in and let you know that Alpha Zombies will be returning to Infection. Unfortunately because of how our systems are setup, the Overtime update had to launch the Infection playlist as it was before it included Alpha Zombies. As you’re aware, we’ve been working to address many matters since the update dropped, including the return of Alpha Zombies. While I can’t provide an ETA yet, I did want to say that Alpha Zombies will be back - and when it does return - it will be a permanent addition the to Infection playlist.

Well that’s good to see. There were a lot of people complaining about it’s removal so I’m glad to see that it wasn’t something they wanted to remove.

What about an Infector blob? Basically, it’s a green sticky grenade that can turn people if it sticks them, but it doesn’t do any damage if it misses. You only get one and it would only be a temporary feature that would go away once a certain amount of Spartans were infected to prevent mass blob spamming once there’s only a few Spartans left.

In my opinion infection is the worst gamemode in halo 5. So for me they would have to do a huge change to appeal to me. But that’s just me.

Worse than Grifball? Also any suggestions on how they could make it better?

I don’t see how grifball is bad, but yes. If i were to list everything i want changed then we would be here all day, i guess i could start with actually giving you a decent amount of ammo that would be a start.

I just find grifball to be the most boring playlist. Not much variability in game modes or maps. Also the point of Infection is that you run out of ammo eventually. It’s not supposed to be too easy to survive.

Reach gave you a good amount of ammo and that infection was perfect.

Maybe they could add more weapon options that you can find in the maps, maybe the map depends on the weapons that would be the most resourceful. Or change up the load outs every once in a while too.

I can tell you what needs to be removed and added
Removed:

  • Active camo on alpha zombies (I can not tell you how many times I come around a corner and hit an alpha at point blank range just to get killed - Hyrda launcher. Now tell me how annoyed you get when someone camping in a tiny little room with one door just sits there and sprays Hydra?Added:

  • More game modes. bring back alpha zombies and add some infection mini games like toilet infection or fatkid funhouse - Replace active camo with vorpal talon - Bring in more maps (especially trypals new map enshround or seasick) - Some glitch spots are still there after that one update that was supposed to remove them all BUT these are nowhere near as annoying as the ones that got removed

I disagree in reach the energy sword range was terrible they could kill you with shotgun before you could get in range to even swing the energy sword aside from that it was pretty good

This may seem like a stretch, but I wonder how “BTB Infection” would play out…

  • There are more starting infected players, and they have increased speed to close the gap in bigger maps and surround the survivors. A shotgun blast or a headshot will still put them down. - Vehicles are accessible to the survivors, but only the Scout Warthog and Mongoose are available to maintain balance. - Every hiding spot has multiple entry points (like a hole in the wall or ceiling), forcing survivors to stay alert. - Smaller BTB maps are preferred; any map with high vantage points will make things frustrating for the infected on the ground. What do you guys think?

Yeah that made you have to think in reach, unlike halo 5 where you can just charge in and have a pretty good chance of infecting that person with no thinking required. That is one other big issue with halo 5’s infection, it requires 0 thinking. While in halo reach you have to strategize and find a different way to get to that person, therefore resulting in the better player becoming victorious (Kind of strange that a casual game like reach takes more thinking and strategy compared to a competitive game like halo 5 isn’t it?).

I guarantee you if you just charge in to a room or power position full of survivors there is not a good chance you will infect somebody unless everybody in there is not very good at the game you have to think if there are any secret routes, which way to thruster, which person has the best power weapon that you want to take out reach was more “strength in numbers” whereas halo 5 is more balanced toward both sides and reach was just one sided towards survivors these are just my opinions I couldn’t stand halo reach because no matter how close I got the energy sword was not in range and lag was the absolute worst of any game I have ever played

How about we just agree to disagree

Remove:

  • Remove active camo from the infected. This needs to be done NOW. There is no aim assist on invisible infected and if they crouch move around you cannot get a direct hit 99% of the time… 343 has this obsession with adding in active camo to infected and the community straight up HATES it. When 343 took over Halo Reach they added Zombie Ghosts as the dominant playlist and there was huge public outcry to get rid of it due to invisible infected as it was completely and utterly broken, hard to see, nigh on impossible to shoot. Nothing was done. For years now (even up til today) everybody knows not to vote for that gametype in infection and if the votes run out and you’re stuck with 3 options of zombie ghosts, everybody dashboards it. It’s hilarious to watch.
  • Reduce the sword lunge distance. I get a minimum of 5-10, sometimes 15 infections in a game. I infect people way too easily and it’s not fair.
  • Reduce infected base movement speed by 20% if you insist on keeping active camo.
  • Remove the map Boarding Pass. It is garbage and has no viable hold out locations. Rounds last 1 -2 minutes. Horrible and no fun.
  • Stop designing maps with this ridiculous idea that every single room, hold out point or location needs a minimum of 3 entry points. It takes away from what Infection is all about and it’s not fun to have to jack my sensitivity up all the way to 8 just so I can look left, middle, right, left, middle, right, left etc etc etc in quick succession to the point where i go cross eyed. it’s -Yoink- tiring. Halo Reach did this perfectly. There were many locations that had one or two entry points but they weren’t overpowered. Infected just had to fein left or right and be a tad creative to fool the spartan and then lunge. Ever wonder why most people agree Halo Reach infection is the all time greatest? Mainly because of this one point.

Still not convinced? go to customs browser at any point in the day and you’ll see that any infection games happening will either be on RIPtide or Malignant. This is because these maps have at least some fair hold out locations for the humans that don’t have 3-4 entrances per room. People don’t find any other infection maps fun.

Add:

  • More maps (no brainer, the playlist gets old fast)
  • Increase radar distance to 25 metres. Reduced radar + active camo + thrust pack is ridiculously unbalanced in the infected favour. On top of reduced radar, there is also a small delay between when you move at radar detection speed, and when you show up on enemies radar. Eg, if you’re standing still then all of a sudden sprint towards an enemy, you’ll only appear on their radar a half second after you start to sprint. You should appear on enemy radar instantly. There should not be a delay or weird ‘phase in’ time that it gives.
  • Make it impossible for an infected and a spartan to kill each other at the same time. Due to lag, I kill infected metres away from me but then I die a second later but I still get a bulltrue medal. What even? Find some work around for this somehow.
  • Have malignant and RIPtide in the rotation more.

This playlist could be so much better. It really could.

AKA… Put Alpha zombies as the dominant playlist and get rid of the current garbage settings.

Sure everybody has opinions

It would be cool if they brought back how the infected looked in Halo 4. That and have some better maps to play on, better weapons variety, and take off invisibility for alpha zombies.
