INfection Update SUCKS!

Removing Team killing and Sword Base from Infection = Worst idea ever! Some of us like to play for fun, and not be those people that take it way to seriously, the team killing update is good for slayer type matches, but no one plays Infection to be the highest scorer or the best player, we play it to have fun. At the very least 343, can you make an infection gametype in Action Sack or something that has the old rules? I am very opposed to this update.

> but no one plays Infection to be the highest scorer or the best player, we play it to have fun.

Wrong.

Also if you don’t care about score then why do you want sword base back? Also what are your qualms with the removal of friendly fire?

Removing team killing = best idea ever. No Sword Base = meh.

Personally, I liked the title update. It made the game play much more fairly, took out the two most camped maps (sword base and the cage), and also removed team killing (With the two most camped maps gone, I don’t need to team kill any more! :D)

I hope that one day we can get a 16 player infection match going. I loved it when the 12 player update happened.

That’s what custom games are for.

Whenever I get a 16 player custom game going, and everybody wants to play infection, half the people leave or lag out. It makes me quite sad.

Boo hoo.

What a shame, you can’t betray anyone.

Get over it.

The fact that there are actually players that angry about this change really proves that there is a major problem with team killing. Maybe taking friendly fire out of the rest of the game types would force those players to play properly. There is no “I” in team, yet most players play like it.

Wouldn’t work in normal gametypes. No one would be conservative with grenades/rockets.

That true. So far that reason is the ONLY reason many are against this. Unfortunately, the betrayal system is so badly out of whack that many feel as though it’s perfectly ok to kill a teammate for their sniper, or the fact that someone got to the wraith first, so they either betray the person, or stand on the thing until the player gets betrayed. I certainly feel that the pro’s definitely outweigh the con’s. I will say that if the betrayal system actually worked right, there would be no need to turn off friendly fire in the first place. It may be fun for others to team kill, but for the players getting team killed, it’s not.

As for not being conservitave with the grenades, players already let them fly without thinking. I would be willing to adapt to suicide bombers over being on a running riot and having a teammate decide he wants my sniper. I’ve also had many perfections taken away because a teammate feels he can decide if I should get one. We all know that’s not right.

And people like you are the reason I’m grateful they finally turned off friendly fire.

Removing Team Killing = No replinishes of ammo by friends or spawing in the middle of Zombies and getting infected thanks to Trolls that think its funny

Removing Default Sword Base = No camping in Red Lift

Adding Spooky Base = Gets rid of camping

i don’t see any problems at all. i wish all the campers would quit complaining. and dont say “i dont camp in Sword Base or the Red Lift”. that a yoinking! lie and you know it. Spooky Base gets rid of campy and adds an infection feeling into it. Sword Base has campers in Red Lift and thats it! Spooky Base adds fairness for Zombies. sorry for ruining your No-Camping-In-Red-Lift-Anymore-In-Infection-And-Im-Going-To-Complain-About-It day

Here’s what I wrote in another thread and why getting rid of betrayals in Living Dead:

When you have a team of two people, where team member 1 (a spartan) runs around and kills all the zombies while team member 2 (a zombie) betrays all the zombies so that team member 1 gets all the kills and lives and wins because of it, that’s cheating like a d-bag.

Metaphor time!

Why don’t we play a game of soccer? We can both be on the same team, and I can kick the ball directly into your crotch repeatedly over and over and over and over and over. And then you can tell me how “fun” it is to screw over people who are supposed to be your allies, now that I’ve done it to you.

If you can’t handle not screwing over people on your own team, then don’t play a team game. Go to Rumble Pit or something. It really is that simple.

Perfectly said. You rule.

Wait, the update got rid of Sword Base? That’s a bummer, I loved that map.

When were there teams in infection?

Humans and Zombies. The teams are implemented using Megalo scripting added to an FFA base, because the standard team engine doesn’t appear to support automatically forcing players to change teams in the middle of a round.

(Use a glitch to set “TEAMS” to “ENABLED” in Infection, and you’ll find that the standard team engine conflicts with, and breaks, the Megalo-based Infection team system. Infect a Human player, and they will infinitely spawn and die so quickly that within five seconds, at least one corpse will cover every respawn point on the map! It’ll continue until they manually swap their standard-team to match their (Megalo) pseudo-team. It seems like the script can’t force a change to their standard-team, so if standard teams are enabled, Infection just “blocks” an infected player by killing them every frame tick until they do it themselves.

(Bungie decided – correctly – that it’d be better in every way possible to use just the Megalo-based teams overtop an FFA game. It’s still a team game, though – just one with a different system.)
