I’ve been playing a lot of Infection recently, and no matter what I do, it always seems like the infected lunge faster than I can shoot, or I lunge slower that everyone else. So I’m asking if anyone has any good tips for playing Infection. It’s my favorite game type, and I want to get really good at it.
Camp. It’s terribly annoying as an infected, but infection has always been a campy mode.get a wall to your back then spray and pray.
As a survivor: Be wary of any common areas that zombies will appear most of the time. Pay close attention to your surroundings, and try to stay above ground level. Staying in a group helps too. Always keep your shotgun with you as the OHK properties will save you many times. Stock up on as much ammo and grenades if possible. Splinter grenades are especially valuable, due to their area-denial properties and longevity. Use any environmental explosives if necessary.
As an infected: At the start of a match, immediately rush towards a high-traffic area (for example, head over to the Plaza in Nerve Center / Malignant) and wait behind cover. If someone is alone, attack them and get back to cover. If they’re with a buddy or two, let them pass and go after the last guy in the line first. If you hear a grenade, jump away to at least avoid the brunt of the blast.
Stealth is your best friend in getting your kills, alongside clambering. Using these traits carefully can create some interesting routes and can result in many ambushes and escape routes. Don’t make too much noise or your position will be given away.
For both: Having a headset will give you a tactical edge in detecting enemies via sound. You can guess their approximate position from yours by carefully listening for their footsteps. This way, you can prepare your attack ahead of time.
Biggest suggestion is that you familiarize yourself with the maps.
As a survivor, I’d advise you try to rely less on your Shotgun. I find it frustratingly inconsistent. Couple of other tips:
-SMG absolutely shreds the Infected. Not as quickly as the SAW, but I find the quicker reload time to be a worthy trade. Grab one if you can.
-DMR is pretty easy to get headshots with. Again, pick up if you can.
-Assault Rifle isn’t bad either.
-Larger power weapons, such as the Sniper and Rocket Launcher, may seem tempting to use, but I think you’d be better off going with something smaller.
-Always keep an eye on your motion tracker. However, remember not to rely on it too much.
Being an Infected player has always been a little frustrating for me, but I’ll try.
-Try to crouch walk most of the time.
-Try to stay in a group. You may not be durable individually, but rushing survivors in a group is pretty effective. Remember how pressing up on the D-pad will bring up a marker over your head? Use it to alert teammates so you can rush survivors.
-Go for areas with valuable power weapons and camp there. Someone’s bound to run for it eventually, and when they get there, well, swish, swish, stab.
That’s all I can think of for now.
Survivor:
Be conservative with your ammo
Group up (this also goes for infected)
Try to avoid high traffic areas
The standard loadout is pretty decent, you can pick up dead teammates ammo
Power weapons can be a big help, but they tend to have low ammo, so pick the right tool for the spot you’re camping
Infected:
Go straight for the high traffic areas. Example; power weapons
Be sneaky, hide in bushes
Use your camo, sure you got an armour effect but some people won’t notice. I being one of those
As I mentioned above, stay with your team. A distraction can be great for your team to get kills
Try not to use the smart link, it’s slow
Save ammo, watch you surroundings, also…
…Never chase the infected, cause I’ve seen people do that to end up getting themselves killed
Hide, attract attention to human allies, survive until end of round, then choose map spots where you have options of escape (don’t camp against wall, will be overwhelmed) and let the zombies come to you as you have infinite ammo.
